One-Hundred Thirty-Eight: Council
Dustin
When I got home that night from the office, Brighton was standing by the door. I wasn’t worried, but it
was also not normal. We really should stop using that word around here. There is not anything normal
about this pack or what happens around here. He pulled out a large envelope and handed it to me. I
looked at it, and I became nervous.
“When did it come?” I asked.
“It was delivered earlier this afternoon by a member of the council.” He tells me.
“I guess I should open it,” I say.
He gives me a nod and says he will gather everyone. Everybody knew what I was trying to do. We still
have no idea who sent the paper trail on Darrius to the council. We all had our suspicion but now proof.
I hadn’t heard anything from the council for a month or more. I honestly thought that they let him off and
would do nothing. I went and changed out of my suit and headed back down to the rec room. Everyone
was there when I arrived, including all of our parents. I actually handed the envelope to dad. I was too
worked up to open it myself.
“Chickenshit,” Mykenzie mumbled.
“Oh shut up,” I told her.
I heard Kylani laugh at the two of us. I should have known they would say something. I had half a mind
to tell Kaleb to control his women, but I also didn’t want to wake up and find myself with coloured hair
or turned into something. There were still pranks being played, but there always are. This house is full
of guys; of course, pranks will be played on each other. However, the girls give just as well as we do.
Maybe even better, but I will never tell them that.
“Well, what does it say?” Kaleb asked.
“They have stripped Darrius of his alpha title and the council will be here in a week to formally turn his
pack over to you,” Dad says.
Well, shit, I let out a breath I didn’t even know I was holding. The letter went on to say that they were
going to take Darrius and Thomas into custody. There was another letter in there telling us that those
two had abandoned the pack and ran.
The council has no idea where those two are. I am not surprised that they ran. I am sure they are with
Asmoday wherever he is.
Bryn
I sat there with the biggest smile on my face. I already knew what that letter said. The council hated
Darrius, so we already knew they would be more than happy to strip his alpha title. They had been
watching him for years now. The information that just happened to surface was the icing on the cake. I
knew the process was going to take a while. The council had a specific way they had to proceed. I was
expecting it to happen a bit faster than this. The whole process has taken two months. I was somewhat
surprised that Darrius and Thomas ran. I really thought he would try and fight this more. I know he
hated this pack. I really feel sorry for his pack now though they will see how a pack should be run. © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
“You know we are gonna have to keep an eye on the newbies,” I say.
“Yeah, I know,” Kylani says.
We are in the nursery with the kids. Well, basically, just my twins and her twins. The other three are
running around, followed by Satyira, who is followed by Draydon.
“I know those two are with Asmoday. I wouldn’t put it past them to try and get a few of the members
that might be loyal to him to spy.” Mykenzie comments.
She has Dimitrus sleeping against her chest. That boy loves his aunt. Kaycen was crawling around on
the floor. My two were also on the floor. They are starting to walk. Great, two more to add to the trouble
that goes on around here. All I know is that Leah and Nymyra better have girls.
“Have we gotten anywhere after we sent out that signal with Einyn?” I ask.
“So far all we have gotten back is rumors,” Mykenzie says.
“Should we try with her and Trent together?” I ask.
“I don’t think it will work. Paula is tied to the underworld. I don’t think that even using Alexis will work.”
Kylani says.
Well, now what? I am just glad they have turned the pack over to Dustin. In one week, his pack will
double in size again. I know Darrius would try and get his pack back. However, there is no chance that
we will let that happen in hell. We know the four of them are together. No, we just have to figure out
where they are.
Darrius
Well, Dustin should be happy. I know for a fact that he got the letter today from the council. I have been
talking to a few of the pack members that are loyal to me. They said that a few members of the council
came to the pack a few days ago to let everyone know what is going on. They let them know that the
pack will be absorbed into Silver Moon in one week. They let everyone know that whoever is against
that is welcome to leave and join neighbouring packs or go rogue. I know a few members have already
left to join other packs. I believe I have at least three that are willing to stay in the pack and play nice so
they can spy. They want assurance that if shit goes wrong, they can come here. I don’t think Asmoday
will have any issues with them. I let them know that I would talk with Asmoday and get back to them
soon.
“So we have some on the inside now?” Thomas asks.
“Yes, we do. Three to four.” I tell him.
“Good.” He replies.
I know we are going to have to sit down and make up some type of plan. I know if my guys get caught,
the pack's ranking members are the least of the problems. With the girls being as suspicious as they
are, I hope we can pull this off. I gave Asmoday a call. He is not on site right now. He is visiting Vepar
right now. She is in a secret location. He doesn’t want her in any of the main locations in case
something happens and they get found. He wants her safe just in case shit hits the fan. I know that he
wants to get a hold of the unicorn. He also wants to get his hands on the Luna. His real goal is
Mykenzie and Kylani, but that is impossible. I also don’t think he will get the other two as well. I am sure
as soon as anyone grabs them that, Mykenzie and Kylani will know. Something tells me that that would
be bad.
“When is Asmoday coming back?” Thomas asks.
“Tomorrow. That’s when I’ll tell him that we have some spies on the inside.” I reply
Thomas nods his head, and we just sit there. I am starting to get a very ominous feeling, and I just
have a feeling losing my pack is the least of my worries.
