The Alpha's Mate Is A Spy

Chapter 13: She's My Prey!

Chapter 13: She's My Prey!

~*~*~

DEREK's POV

I stayed at the base camp, to my office to see what was happening.

Since there were surveillance orbs all around the forest, and it was only me who could see everything. I

saw everything that happened when Venus and Seff continued to fight for no reason.

If only it had a sound function.

Seff was on complete defense while Venus fought to kill. It wasn't entertaining since my chest felt

heavy while Seff threw her off the tree. Of course, it didn't end there. Their little duel finally ends when

she finally thinks she killed him by stabbing his heart, and she gets out of the portal.

If only she knew that his heart was no longer in the center of his chest. Not that she should know either,

since I am the sole person who knows that fact.

I sighed. "Just what is that idiot doing?"

Thankfully, I knew this would happen, so I sent Easton to fetch Seff at the gate. Knowing him, he's

probably out of the forest now.

['He refused alpha']

I sighed. There's no stopping him.

After waiting a bit for them, their scent reached me, and I turned in their direction. Easton wore a

worried expression as Seff was walking casually while a knife was stabbed into his chest.

Even I can't get used to this.

"Ah, I never thought your event would be so fun!" He claps as he walks up to me. "Especially that

purple eyed-woman we met at the festival, who knew she was around the area because of Crescent

Moon Pack?"

I let out a frustrated breath, "Get treated first, Seff, you're getting blood all over my floor."

"Ayah, don't be smug. I just came here to talk a bit. Just small talk."

I arched an eyebrow, "What do you want?"

"I want her, don't take her in." He says straightforwardly.

I scoffed, "You're my friend. But there are some things that even I can't control. Our elders are watching

the whole event, I can't just mess up the justice system just because you want Venus."

He frowns. He looks at the orbs surveillance monitor on my desk. Upon looking at it, his eyes started to

darken. "She's my prey. Can't you overlook it for the sake of our friendship?"

This was the first time Seff used a stern voice in front of me. The eagerness and desire in his eyes

were so evident that it made me uncomfortable whenever I thought about Venus being played by him.

My stomach turned at the thought of it.

"No," I growled. "Don't test me, Seff. You know we're both different. I prioritize my pack more than

personal matters. I don't care if you want her. There are only two options she has right now. Whether

she dies or becomes one of us today depends on her ability to impress us."

I stood up. The atmosphere around us screamed hostility, but both of us were unbothered by it. I

walked up to him and pushed him, my veins popping from anger as I saw how he still had the nerve to

laugh at the situation.

"If I hear you demanding useless things in my territory again, see how I'll handle you," I growled.

*VENUS's POV*

After killing the psychopath, I sniffed the fresh breeze of air that passed by as I landed softly at the

portal. It was then that I realized that I wasn't the first person to arrive. Two guys were already there,

one blonde and a black-haired guy who looked Asian.

The blonde one eyes me up and down, but I just ignore it. I strode towards a space away from them

and waited for the system to announce the end of the level 1 time limit.

After a few tens exited the portal, the portal finally closed.

We're fewer than I thought. From thousands of participants, were cut down to 457? Talk about legal

mass murder. Anyway, they were the same faces I saw when I entered Arndon woods, so most people

already died at the entrance. Yet I knew for a fact that if someone hadn't cleared a pathway for us, then

maybe we could've been fewer.

The admin started to instruct us about Level 2. Since he already gave us a brief discussion before, he

only told us a specific warning.

"You'll be tested how good you can handle yourself during the worst of times, under a time limit. It'll put

you in a traumatizing situation if you don't break through the illusion and become swallowed by it. You

won't die, but you'll lose yourself and get stuck in the illusion forever."

Well, same as dying. I shrugged it off.

Level 2 testing site wasn't from the Arndon Woods. Since it's about illusions, I already expected where

it would be conducted.

White Mist Blues.

It is another forbidden place to enter for living creatures since it entraps people, only this time you get

trapped by choice.

If Arndon Woods was called the 'Lost World.' Then White Mist Blues was named the 'Home of

Deceptive creatures.' Why? Because behind the thick mist that covered the area, a hungry group of

spirits waits to catch lost souls, to entrap their collected souls to nourish their life spans even further.

I was so confident in myself that I was the first one to step inside the mist. I mean, shouldn't I be? this

was a test for managing emotions.

And technically, I don't have those.
