The Agent’s Badboy

Chapter 23 The day Yegor was held responsible

Karla was soaking up the morning sun, lounging while enjoying the vineyard view from his beautiful poolside when Yegor joins her with two glasses of ice tea in his hands.

He gave one to her and sits on the lounger next to his sexy lover. She smiled and thanked him, but then gave a questioning look when she knows that he was about to drop the bomb.

“I need to get back, Darko called. There’s been an attempt on The Kuznetsova.”

“You mean you’re going back for her?”

She knows it has to be something important for him to go back so suddenly, and issues with Kuznetsova mean it has to be Zasha.

“Karla, you know I’d do anything for you. But they’re a member of my cartel. And an attempt towards any family member of my cartel is an attempt towards me…”

“I get it, don’t worry. I also need to get back. I have my work.”

“Stay here? I’ll be back before you know it. Quit your job…”

It was a very tempting offer, but she knows she didn’t stand a chance with Zasha. She would probably end up dead on some ditch, killed off by one of her dad’s men.

Karla knows the Kuznetsova, and they’re as bad as the Voloshin brothers. At least by still working at the agency, the mob would think twice if they want to put a bounty on her head.

“Someday, maybe…” she gets up from the pool lounger and went inside to pack up her stuff, leaving Yegor as he finishes off on his drink.

The Sokolov cartel boss cursed on the inside, his thoughts were to his sexy agent. With all the money he has, he still couldn’t convince her to stay with him. And at that time he was back to thinking maybe he should just back down and let Darko runs the cartel.

He was at a point where sometimes he feels like he has had enough with all the killings and power. Every time he was with her he had been content and happy as if she was all he needed and nothing else mattered when they’re together.

Karla arrived at her apartment building just before night falls, Nail helped her with her stuff while she took Gus’ carrier. Yegor and Darko were busy back at his mansion and she rejected him when Yegor offered to drive her back. She was telling him to finish off his work.Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

The sexy agent was annoyed and Darko could see how Karla hated the fact that Yegor was coming back to his fiance’s rescue.

“I know you missed your posh flooring at the mansion, but you have to deal with our standard yet very durable tile. Come, baby, I got your fresh canned food…” Karla was talking to her fat Gus as she gave him his last meal of the day before she took her relaxing bath. Gus purred on her feet just like he always does making her smile and rubbed his neck as his tail caresses her calf happily.

She was just finished with her bath and was about to go to sleep when there was a knock on her door. Karla puts on her robe thinking it might be one of her neighbors, but she took her gun to her back just as a precaution thinking she should really put on a CCTV camera outside her door for extra security.

“Ardian?”

“Hey, I hope it’s not too late.”

Karla smiled at the handsome architect and opens her door, she moved quietly and put her handgun in her console drawer.

“Apparently, I have been working too hard and seemed to forget to buy coffee for my coffee.” He laughed at his dry joke.

“Come in, I just got back. But I think I have lots of those.”

“Yeah? busy with work?”

“More like escaping from my work.” Karla laughed and decided to make his coffee while she poured herself a glass of wine to help her sleep better.

“Hey, you don’t have to make me one, it’s late already. I don’t want to bother your resting time.”

“We’re neighbors, my boss told me to polish my social skill.”

He laughed at her words, telling her that he’s glad that he doesn’t have a boss.

“Why do you think I work from home, alone?” Ardian pointed out as he sipped on the newly brewed cup of coffee.

Karla spent the next hour talking and laughing with the geeky handsome neighbor.

What the sexy agent didn’t realize was that at that same time, her mob lover was being blamed by the Kuznetsova. The old man, Nestor, was pushing him to move forward with the wedding.

“If you marry her sooner she wouldn’t run away, and no one would try to kill her!”

Nestor was pacing back and forth while Yegor sits back in his big boss chair looking at one of the oldest members of his cartel, while Darko stands to his side to show the other family that he was behind his boss’s decision.

Zasha’s dad was there with his underboss, he insisted on a meeting with Yegor and he didn’t give a damn about him being out of the country hours earlier.

“I should’ve forced you to marry her while your dad was still alive. This is not how our pact should be tainted, you know I always have the cartel’s back and this is how you repay me?”

Nestor finally took his seat, whole his underboss stand to his side.

“I’m in love with someone else. I can’t marry your daughter and treat her less. This is exactly how I repay you, by treating your daughter with respect. I’m giving her time to break the pack and marry someone else.”

Nestor looked at him in furry, but Yegor just looks at Zasha’s dad like he hasn’t done anything wrong.

“You will pay for this.” The old man threatened.

Yegor finally got up and slammed his hand to the deep dark wood table.

“Do that, and I will burn you to the ground. And Nestor, don’t try anything stupid I know you’re behind the shooting. Your incapable gunman is now being held by my men for hurting Darko in the process.”

Darko could see the old man clenches his jaw, he curses on the inside and was ready to jump him, but his common sense and great self-control were holding him back and staying behind his boss’s decision.

“I’m giving you an out, as a thank you for being with us the longest. We have our differences, now you are free to…”

“You’re fucking booting me out of the cartel? you ungrateful insolent bastard!”

Nestor got up and was reaching for his gun, but Darko was quick to draw his guns and pointed them at the older mob boss and his underboss.

“Go, now!” Darko speaks for his boss’ while pointing his guns at the men in front of him.

Nestor put his gun back to its strap and curse but decided to walk away from Yegor and Darko. Being with the cartel the longest he knows when he needed to go back and strategize his next move.

The room was quiet when Nestor and his underboss left and that’s when Yegor asked Darko.

“Do you think Zasha is safe there? will Nestor do her harm?”

“Honestly, I think he’ll beat the crap out of her. But I can’t move without your permission, this will surely make some ripples in our cartel. And Nestor is one of the oldest members, a trusted one by your dad…”

Darko keeps on talking as he poured his half-brother his favorite drink. Yegor thanked him as he sipped the six-year-old malt, he was puffing out his cigar when Darko continues his words.

“I don’t know if it’s wise for us to get involved with their situation. I dropped off Zasha at her dad’s and she looked bored, I think we should keep our contact there just in case. But leave them to handle the situation as is. We still have the Albanians to worry about.”

Yegor groaned at his words when he remembered about the Albanians.

“This is going to be a long night. Go get Nail and the rest of the guys, I want to hear everything about the Albanians.”

He took another drag of his cigar and rest back in his chair while he waited on his men.

His mind was thinking about his beautiful agent knowing that he will be sleeping alone tonight. And after her little jealousy fit with Zasha, the mob boss decided to leave her be and decided to take his mob business meeting up to speed.
