Chapter 52 I Love You and Goodnight
When she returned to the hotel, Amanda went to the reception counter to check out.
From when the Sean house moved out to the end of the lawsuit, she had been living here for three months. The cost was not low. Although she was rich now, it still made her heart ache.
“Hello, I’ll check out at noon tomorrow and pay the bill.”
“What’s your room number?”
“1204.”
“Miss Jewell, right? You don’t have to pay for the room you’re staying in.”
Amanda was taken aback. “Have you been paid?”
The lobby manager smiled. “Mr. Byran is a shareholder of our hotel.”
Only then did Amanda come back to her senses.
After returning to her room, she leaned against the sofa and heaved a long sigh.
She now owed Iverson another favor.
What she was most afraid of were owing favors. Most things in the world that could be solved with money should never be owed by others because it is difficult to repay.
After hesitating, she composed a message to express her gratitude. “Mr. Byran, I’ve found a place to stay. I’ll move out of the hotel tomorrow. Thank you for your help during this period.”
Looking at the editing of the message, she felt it was too formal. Iverson might have fallen asleep at this time, so Amanda typed two words again. “Good night.”
Before she could send out any of her messages, a message from Iverson appeared in the chat box.
“Let’s have lunch together tomorrow at noon.”
Amanda’s hand trembled, and she accidentally sent a message that she had not finished editing.
As soon as she sent the message, Amanda suddenly saw the words of the message and bounced up from the sofa.
“I love you? Why did I send ‘I love you’?”
Why did I type ‘I love you’?
She was clearly typing ‘good night.’
This damned input method!
Amanda was flustered. She was so flustered that she wanted to cancel the message, but she accidentally deleted the message.
“Ahhh!”
This was a huge misunderstanding.
“Don’t panic, don’t panic!”
Amanda made a prompt decision and dialed the number, anxiously waiting for Iverson to pick up the phone.
“Hey!”
A flat male voice came from the other end of the phone. It sounded calm.
“Did you see the message I just sent?”
“I see it.”
Amanda closed her eyes in despair and braced herself to explain. “It’s a misunderstanding. For the input method, I typed the wrong words.”
“What mistake?”
“I love you.”
The other end of the line fell silent.
Amanda’s face instantly turned bright red. “I mean, I type the wrong words. I’m not going to say that. Please don’t misunderstand.”
After a long, incoherent explanation, Iverson finally responded. “Then what were you going to tell me?”
Amanda was taken aback.
For some reason, when she heard Iverson’s voice, she felt inexplicably at ease.
After sorting out her flustered emotions, she took a deep breath and said slowly,
“I wanted to tell you good night.”
“Let’s have lunch together at noon tomorrow. Don’t forget to sleep early. good night.”
Amanda was stunned for a long time until she heard a beep sound and hung up the phone.
Iverson’s “good night” reverberated in her ears.
She stared blankly at the phone screen and saw that it had returned to the chat interface.
The “I love you” she had deleted naturally could not be seen. It was like a dream. She would have thought she was dreaming if it weren’t for the call history.
After a while, Amanda finally returned to her senses and replied, “I’m moving tomorrow, so I can’t have lunch with you at noon. I’ll set an appointment for it next time.”
No matter what, she should thank Iverson properly for all the help he had given her.
At night, Amanda tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep.
As soon as she closed her eyes, she saw all scenes of her spending the day with Iverson. Her ears were filled with his voice.
She had to admit that this man was charming.
Early the following day.
Amanda packed up her few belongings and moved to her new home.
“Thank you. Just put here.”
After sending away the workers who helped her move things, she closed the door and stood in the clean living room, feeling refreshed.
“Knock, knock…”
The doorbell rang.
“I’ll get it!”
Amanda thought that the workers had dropped something, but when she opened the door, she saw Iverson’s assistant, Jamie.
“Jamie? Why are you here?”
“Hello, Miss Jewell. Mr. Byran knows you’re moving today, so he asked me to buy some daily necessities for you.”
As he spoke, Jamie waved the bags in his hand.
Amanda was stunned for a long time. “Some daily necessities?”
She looked at Jamie and then at the young woman behind him. “Then, who is this?”
Behind Jamie was a young and beautiful urban beauty in a beige suit. Her hair was tied up and meticulously arranged. Her smile was respectful but distant.
Jamie introduced her. “This is Mr. Byran’s personal secretary, Linda.”
“Hello, Miss Jewell.”
“Hello.”
Amanda came back to her senses and quickly stepped aside. “Come in first. I’ll pour you some tea.”
“I haven’t packed up yet.”
“Miss Jewell, please don’t bother. Just leave everything to Linda.”
Jamie put down the items.
Amanda was rummaging through her closet for tea when she saw Linda enter the kitchen out of her eye. “Linda, just put the things on the ground. The kitchen is over there.”
Linda acted as if she didn’t hear and took her things straight to the kitchen.
When Amanda saw her take out tomatoes from the bag, she realized something was wrong.NôvelDrama.Org content.
“Jamie, why did you buy vegetables?”
Jamie said calmly, “Mr. Byran said he’d like to have lunch with you at noon.”
“I said I’m busy.”
“Mr. Byran knows you don’t have time, so he asked Linda to come here to cook. We’ve bought groceries, so you don’t have to stand on ceremony, Miss Jewell. Just leave everything to Linda.”
“Asked someone to cook at home?”
Amanda thought that she had misheard. “No, this…”
“I’ll be off then. I need to pick up Mr. Byran.”
“Ah! Jamie!”
Amanda failed to stop Jamie. Only she and Linda were left in the room with the sound of the door closing.
Embarrassed, she walked to the kitchen door and said hesitantly, “Linda, how can I let you come to my home to cook? Don’t cook; let me cook.”
Linda said expressionless, “Miss Jewell knows how to cook?”
Amanda was speechless.
She didn’t know how to cook. Except for instant noodles, she had never made anything edible, which was also one of the critical reasons Mrs. Elder Sean criticized her.
Linda could tell the answer at a glance. She said flatly, “There are professionals in every field, and I’m Mr. Byran’s personal secretary. It’s my job. Miss Jewell, you can tell me in advance if you have any preferences.”
Amanda coughed. “It’s all right. I’m not a picky eater. Is there anything I can do for you?”
Linda glanced at her and said, “No need.”
Amanda could clearly feel that she was being looked down upon.
She had thought that although Iverson was not expected, the people around him were as kind as Jamie. She hadn’t expected Linda to be Iverson’s 2. 0 version. She was so unapproachable that the people around her were speechless as soon as she opened her mouth.
