Chapter 169
169 Summoned
Damian’s POV
“What if I don’t?” I tease Scarlett Fuller.
Why is she so afraid of me? I don’t think I have over offended her in any way. But she looks at me as if worried that I would eat her alive.
“Then I will ask you what makes you think you have the right to say so, when she can go and do whatever she wants to do,” Sebastian Knight shoots me a hostile look.
He doesn’t seem to be what Ava Fuller told me about a guy Scarle last time he didn’t help Ava because he cares about his image in pu her against me for such a slight tease.

“You seem to be afraid of me,” I ignore the protective husband, asking the little bunny, “Why?”
She freezes where she is like a scared bunny. Now I’m really confused. Wasn’t that question completely harmless? But it was like I said I would kill her.
Linth is here, and I don’t want her to spot Lilith. That’s all.
[I’m out at a bar. Wanna come?] I text Lilith. If she lies to me, then I’ll keep her secret away from her best NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.
friend for now.
I just remembered that Scarlett was the girl with Lilith when I saved her. Well, I didn’t remember. I saw her on the street getting into a car in front of the fight club the same day I went to look for Lilith, so I asked and Lilith told me they were best friends. I might have called Scarlett a mean girl when she asked me
whether I remembered her.
But that can hardly explain her fear of me.
I’m leaning toward her being my Alice. After all, she shares Mom and Dad’s appearance too much to ignore. She even talks like Mom: fierce, lively, and cute with a shade of mischief in her eyes. Aya Fuller doesn’t look like Mom nor Dad, and talking to her just doesn’t feel right.
So why is Mom’s necklace on Ava Fuller’s neck?
1-” Scarlett stutters, and I wait with amusement, curious what kind of an answer she can give me.
But Sebastian Knight’s phone rings and she purses her lips, looking over at him. Pity.
Sebastian Knight pauses when he looks at his phone, then he shoots a nervous look at Scarlett Fuller. I can’t see who is calling, but there is few possibilities.
Ava Fuller. Who else could make a husband nervous other than his alleged mistress? I have been looking into what happened for Ava Fuller’s sake, originally. But if Scarlett Fuller is my Alice then…I’ll take Ava Fuller out even if Scarlett did force him to marry her so long as she wants him.
My sister gets what she wants, period.
Though I wish my Alice wouldn’t want a man who doesn’t want her. She deserves the best. And from what I have heard about this man, he doesn’t deserve her.

Scarlett stands there, looking at Sebastian Knight with a calm look.
I know that look. I have seen my share of divorces. That’s the look of a wife who knows better than to expect too much from her husband, who is suppressing her hope but waiting for him to make the right choice at the same time.
I want to know his choice, too.
He ends the phone call.

I look over at Scarlett with a smirk, only to freeze where I am
She doesn’t look as happy as I thought she would be. She bites her with sorrow, I thought I saw my mom! That’s her look when I told he
“You–I” I stand up and grab Scarlett’s forearm, but Sebastian Knight is faster. He pulls her behind him, facing me with a cold glare: “What the fuck?”
“Sorry,” I mumble. Oliver comes between me and Sebastian Knight, and I sit down, not looking at her.
She is my Alice. She has to be! No one can look so alike Mom! No one but her own daughter!
“I’m sorry if I scared you in any way–” I apologize but she wouldn’t accept it. She shakes her head and dodges my eyes, “–”
Her phone interrupts me this time. She looks down at her phone, showing it to Sebastian Knight: “It’s Mom. You know it’s about Ava and it’s serious.”
Sebastian Knight frowns: “I didn’t answer–”
“They are summoning me and you know why,” Scarlett Fuller cuts him off, staring into his eyes, “Do you want me to go?”
