Chapter 3196
Chapter 3196
Serenity hung up and said to Zachary, "Let's order when Ms. Doyle gets here."
"Sure, honey." Zachary was indifferent.
Ms. Doyle was Grandma May's bride candidate for Dylan. If nothing unexpected happened, she would be his sister-in-law in the future. It was not a big deal for them to meet in advance. The only thing was they had no clue who Dylan would choose in the end.
That was his business, though. Dylan could worry about it all by himself. Zachary could not be bothered.
Serenity took Sonny to wash his hands while Zachary sat on the sofa. Dylan stood waiting at the entrance, not knowing who Serenity had invited for dinner.
He texted Peter, but Peter had stopped replying to him.
"That damned Peter stopped replying after hearing I got into trouble. Are you scared I'll drag you down with me or implicate you too?" Dylan cursed Peter softly.
Soon, he heard the sound of high heels. It sounded a little familiar, like...
After some thought, Dylan remembered now. It sounded like Imogen's. It could not be her, could it? She was all the way in Huntington and she did not know Serenity, so why would Serenity treat her to dinner? He must have been mistaken. Or this person's strides were very similar to Imogen's.
Dylan suspected he misheard, but when Imogen's figure appeared in his line of sight, he could not lie to himself any longer. It was Imogen Doyle. He had not been mistaken.
He looked at her in astonishment. As he watched her approach, realization suddenly dawned on him.
No wonder Serenity said he had done something bad and Zachary said he had embarrassed their family. Imogen must have snitched on him to Serenity.
Why had she come all the way to Wiltspoon? She did not even tell him, catching him off guard.
"Mr. Dylan York."
By the time Dylan regained his senses, Imogen was already standing in front of him.
"Long time no see, Ms. Doyle," Dylan greeted calmly and politely.
"It has been a while," Imogen said meaningfully.
Dylan forced a warm smile and said, "When did you arrive in Wiltspoon? Why didn't you let me know? I would have picked you up from the airport and done my duty as the host in welcoming you." Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.
Imogen retorted, "You refused to answer my calls and text me back. You probably even blocked me already, so how was I supposed to tell you? And if I did, would I even be able to make it here? You might have stopped me on my way here."
Dylan's expression remained unchanged despite Imogen's accusations and he smiled. "You must be joking. How could I possibly do such a thing?
"I'm not refusing to answer your calls. I used a different number in Huntington and I left that phone behind when I came back to Wiltspoon. I didn't know you tried to contact me." Dylan lied through his teeth.
It was true that he used a different
number in Huntington, but he brought that phone everywhere with him. He had seen Imogen's texts but had not replied, and allowed the phone to just ring when she called instead of picking up.
