Rewriting My Heart's Fate

Chapter 489

"How the hell am I supposed to trust you, Ethan? We're engaged, and you're still hooking up with other women in a place like this. Doesn't that show how screwed up everything is?" I shot back. "I..." Ethan trailed off, his face drained of color. "Please, Evelyn, just give me a chance to explain this. I swear, I never cheated on you!"

"Enough!" I snapped. Then, I stressed every word as I continued, "I'm done with your lies and empty promises. It's over. You go your way, and I'll go mine."

With that, I stormed off without looking back.

Ethan called my name behind me, his voice breaking, but I tuned him out and let the tears fall. I knew I'd never trust him again. All his promises were just empty words. He betrayed me in the end.

I grabbed my suitcase and left the Grayson residence, my body shaking with anger as I cried my eyes out.

Why the hell was life kicking me when I was already down? I'd given everything to my career. What did I do to deserve this?

When I arrived at the hotel, I called up Kevin and Lianna. I'd been distant with them lately, but they probably kept Evelyn Studio running smoothly while I was absent.

They showed up soon enough, and I laid everything out for them.

"Stop crying, Evelyn," Lianna said, pulling me into a hug. "Vivian's such a bitch! She's not getting away with this!"

I was touched. I nodded and squeezed their hands tight.

...

The next morning, something insane happened. I turned on the TV and saw all the crappy stories about me were gone. Instead, the news was filled with apologies and proof I didn't plagiarize. en

The news even said the jerks who screwed over Grayson Group were locked up for cooking the books dodging axes. Word was some mystery big shot stepped in, took down those traitors, and put me

back on top.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing. How was that even real? Who had the power to turn everything upside down overnight?

"Are you alright, Evelyn?" Lianne asked, eyeing me with concern.

I snapped back to reality and forced a smile. "Yeah, I'm good. Everything feels way too sudden, like it's not even real."noveldrama

Kevin leaned over. "No way, this is insane! We just hit the jackpot, Evelyn! Who do you think pulled this off?"

I shook my head with a wry smile.

Only one person crossed my mind, but I couldn't bring myself to dwell on it What if... what if it wasn't him?

"Who cares? Let's just get to work!" I said.

The thought of Evelyn Studio's success got Kevin fired up. While we were still chewing it over, a surprise visitor showed up.

It was Vivian. She was dressed in high-end outfits, strutting in like she owned the place.

I shot up in surprise.
