Chapter 534 Drake Was Taken as a Liar
It never occurred to Drake that his face should cease to have an influence on others at this time; After
all, even these people thought him looked very like Drake, but they would not have associated him with
Drake.
The men were behind him buying ice cream for their girlfriends, so no one wanted to help, but instead
they kept urging him.
"How much altogether?" As Drake pondered what to do, Sophia appeared.
"Twenty dollars and fifty cents!"
Sophia pulled out the purse and took some cash.
Then she handed it to the seller.
Drake pulled a wry face.
After the ice cream was made, Drake took it and said resignedly, "I never thought in my life that I would
have been so embarrassed."
"You might be more embarrassed than today."
He still had a long way to go to learn to be a common person.
"You're right, Sophia. I used to rely too much on others to do those things for me, and now that I'm on
my own, I have to count on my own."
"Come on, honey! I have confidence in you!" Sophia smiled faintly.
"Don't flirt with me here, because you can't afford the consequences!" Drake came close to her ear.
"Go away!" Sophia rolled her eyes and blushed.
Bonnie looked at her mother and father, so in love with each other, and the smile of joy came back to
her face.
Sophia did not dare to let Bonnie have much ice cream, and when Bonnie had eaten a third of it, she
took it from Bonnie, and then snatched a few bites.
Bonnie looked at the clothes inside when they passed by a clothing store, and said, "Mommy, the
clothes here are all so nice. Will you go try them on?"
"The brand here is beneath your mommy!" Drake pulled Bonnie.
Sophia wore custom-made clothes, but today they went to the ordinary mall where the most expensive
clothes were only worth over one thousand dollars. They only went there because they wanted to enjoy
the life of common people.
"Drake, you are wrong. Although there is a difference between expensive and cheap clothes, it doesn't
mean that I can't wear cheap ones. Bonnie doesn't have a sense of spending money now, so it's not
good for you to instill such an idea in her at such a young age." Sophia looked at Drake.
Drake really had not thought of that. Sophia handed the bag to Bonnie and moved toward the interior.
Sophia took a few dresses that suited her taste, and went inside to try them on.
She dazzled not only Bonnie but Drake as she came out.
The clothes were cheap, probably costing only three to five hundred dollars; Yet they seemed to be of
well-known brands when they were worn by Sophia.
"It's so pretty! Mommy looks good in everything!"
"OK. Buy it!" Sophia tried on several dresses in a row. She was delighted, and, as her daughter were
fond of them, made the decision at once.
Drake, of course, offered to pay, but the card he held out made the saleswoman look at him as if he
were a fool.
"Sir, we can't swipe cards like yours here!" The saleswoman was still wondering if the handsome man
was a fraud.
She had seen a lot this sort of scammers who took some fancy cards to help women pay the bill, but
the cards couldn't be swiped, so women needed to pay for themselves.
The women always thought the scammers were rich, but in the end they were swindled out of all their
money. So the saleswoman wanted to remind Sophia.
"How come you can't swipe it?" Drake looked at her unexpectedly.
Before, he had been unable to use his card in a small booth, and now it was the same here at the
clothing store.
"We can only swipe regular cards. And we are not authorized to swipe your black card."
"You're not authorized?" It was the first time Drake had ever heard anything so ridiculous.
Sophia understood; It was, after all, an ordinary shopping mall. She smiled and said, "Let me pay the
bill!"
The saleswoman, however, did not move.
"What's wrong?" Sophia looked at her curiously. Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
The saleswoman thought they were both women, and, determined not to let one more be cajoled into
paying, spoke up. "Miss, I certainly have no doubt about your decision to pay, but I hope you can look
at the man next to you cautiously."
Sophia, a little confused, glanced at Drake and asked, "What's wrong?"
"I've seen a lot of things like this today. This man must have lied to you about being rich! But he can't
swipe his card every time he takes his card, right? Miss, you are so good-looking and kind. Don't let
this man fool you!"
Sophia understood at once and smiled.
Drake understood, too, and he spoke resignedly, "So, you take me for a liar?
The saleswoman looked at him scornfully. "I admit, indeed, that I have never seen such a handsome
liar like you, and if I were her, I would be happy to be cheated by you too; But as an outsider, I still want
to remind you that cheating is against the law. Tell me how much you've cost her or the police station
will teach you a lesson."
Drake again put on a wry face. What the hell did he do to make him be taken for a liar?
But Sophia could not help laughing. "Don't worry, he's not a liar; he's my husband!"
The saleswoman looked at her in disbelief. "What? You two even got a marriage license? Is his name
on the property certificate of your house? No, you have to hurry to change the name. And I see that
you have earned a lot of money. You should get rid of him, lest he swindles you out of all your savings!"
"No, he's really my husband, and he's not a liar as we've known each other for years."
"I really haven't seen such an impressive con man like him, hiding his real identity for so many years. I
have to hurry up and call the police!"
Sophia and Drake didn't know what to say.
"Papa, Mommy, what is a liar?" Bonnie, however, looked at the two people strangely.
Sophia knew the saleswoman would never believe her no matter how she explained it, and she had
never seen such a warm-hearted saleswoman, so she decided to do nothing but wait.
When the police officer came over, he took a look at Drake's ID card and immediately said respectfully,
"Mr. Riley, I am so sorry. I did not expect to get you involved in this. It's totally a misunderstanding!"
Mr. Riley? The saleswoman looked curiously at the man before her, and began to wonder why the
name sounded so familiar to her.
The policeman chided, "We are happy that you help us identify the liar, but next time you should see if
it is really a liar or not. He is Mr. Riley of the Riley family. If he is a liar, what are we then?"
Mr. Riley of the Riley family? The salesman soon understood.
"Sorry, I'm really sorry. I didn't even know he was Mr. Riley!"
