Chapter 497 Ms. Greenspan, You're A Good Drinker
Drake received a phone call which told him to attend a dinner party this evening.
Normally, Drake would not go to party. However, every party he turned up was most important.
Drake even asked Sophia if she wanted to go with him.
Sophia said, "I'd better not. If I go with you, Bonnie will have to stay with Emma. As we can't spend
much time with her in the day, we should not always partake in the party. It's not good for our child."
Drake also knew it. Since Bonnie came back, he had tried his best to accompany her. Nevertheless, he
had no choice when he should work.
"Well, I will get back as soon as possible."
Sophia nodded.
Drake looked at Paul and asked, "You seem to have a lot of time these days."
Paul was always thin-skinned when talking about his love affair, so he blushed, "Yep, I'm quite free.
Aria is busy with her film recently while I have nothing else to do."
"A day off. Pay her a visit."
Paul looked at him, feeling surprised, "I should go to the dinner party with you..."
"It's not like you're the only one that can go with me."
Obviously, Drake changed his attitude into coldness, creating a vibe which made people feel like being
in an air-conditioned room.
Paul hurriedly said, "Roger, Mr. Riley. I'm leaving."
When Drake showed up in the party, no assistant was with him, which surprised other participators.
They asked, "Mr. Riley, are you alone? Where's your assistant?"
Drake sat down like an emperor, with an aura of power.
"I want to have a drink with you today."
Normally, if Drake didn't want to drink alcohol, they would ask Paul to drink. But today, his attitude
made everyone satisfied.
After a while, when it was time for dining, a woman walked in from outside. She made her apologies,
"Sorry, I'm late."
The organizer stood up and said, "Never mind. It's rush hour while here is far away from where you
live. It makes sense you're late. Take a seat!"
"Thank you for your understanding. I'll drink three glasses for my being late!"
It was Jessica who took a seat then. Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
Since there was only an empty seat next to Drake, she rightfully sat down next to him.
Drake recognized it was Jessica's voice. He whispered to the man on his other side, and then both of
them rose to their feet.
Then, everybody found that Drake switch places with him.
Someone bantered, "Mr. Riley, come on. Are you a a hen-pecked husband? You can't even sit next to a
lady?"
"You know, I'm too attractive. And as a good man, I must put an end to any opportunity of a love affair."
Drake saying in this way proved that the man talked to him also had a high status.
"You're faithful. We should learn from you."
People around the table smiled.
Jessica threw a glance at Drake. She thought she finally got closer to Drake, but he still kept her away.
Fortunately, Sophia was not here, and thus she still had a chance.
Jessica hid her feeling for Drake and pretending to say calmly, "I said I would drink three glasses of
alcohol for being late."
The organizer said, "No, Jessica, we won't take it serious. No need to do so."
"Come on. I gotta drink to show my sincerity."
Then she finished drinking three goblets of wine.
"Ms. Greenspan, you're a good drinker."
"And Ms. Greenspan is generous as well."
"Since Ms. Greenspan joined the Cannon Group, our partnership is much closer."
Everybody smiled.
Jessica was a smart girl. Hearing their compliments, she stood up and toasted to them.
"I'm still a nobody. Without the grooming of my boss, I won't have a chance to drink with you. After this
meal, I hope we'll be nicer to each other. Thank you."
People like being flattered. It seemed that Jessica had learned how to engage with others with tack and
respect in a short time.
"Ms. Greenspan, you're so sweet. Let's make money together."
"And it's not good for a lady to drink too much."
"I must. All of you taught me and helped me a lot. It's my pleasure to have a drink with you. It's a
chance to express my gratitude to you, too. Just enjoy!"
There was a smile on everyone's face.
When it was Drake's turn, Jessica said, "Mr. Riley, If you don't want to drink with me, I won't push you."
Drake glanced at her but kept silent. He even didn't raise his goblet.
Before, people here, more or less, knew that Jessica had been pursuing Drake. However, he got
married, so it was normal that Drake didn't talk to her.
The organizer realized that it was a bit awkward now and hurriedly said, "Cheers to all of us!"
After a long while, when Drake got a nature's call, he heard a noise of retching.
He didn't care about it and walked straight to the male washroom.
As he walked out, he saw Jessica, with her eye rims red, being harassed by some guys.
"Whew, Miss, you're drunk, aren't you? You know what? Drink is necessary, but too much makes you
uncomfortable."
"Drinking is uncomfortable, but sex is the other way round. Why not hang out with us?"
Jessica was a bit drunk and walked unsteadily. As they groped at her, she almost fell down when she
tried pushing them away.
"Hey!"
One of them held her in arm directly.
"Miss, you really need help!"
Their hands were groping Jessica's body.
"Get away!"
When Jessica tried again, she noticed Drake was there. She shouted, like gripping the last straw, "Mr.
Riley, save me!"
Drake stopped.
The guys looked at him and then one of them patted him as a warning, "It's none of your business. Get
out of here now."
Drake darted at the place the guy touched, and his face showed his disgust.
Another one saw he didn't move and said, "What are you doing here?"
Jessica ran to Drake and grabbed his arm, "Mr. Riley, I don't know them at all. They are harassing me
because I'm a woman who stays alone here. Please, give me a hand!"
The guys pulled her back and fixed her against the wall.
"Miss, how can you say that? We played with you last time. Do you forget it?"
"Let go! I have totally no idea about you. Get off!"
