Rejected Luna Queen

Chapter 52

Nesta’s POV

1 bit my lip nervously, my back pressed against the cool wall of the pack house kitchen. My heart. pounded in my chest as I tried to remain as inconspicuous as possible.

Elara had told me that Luca had invited Nolan, but she hadn’t given me any details before disappearing. Now, I was alone, trying to keep my anxiety at bay.

I glanced around the kitchen, the faint hum of the refrigerator and the distant chatter from the other rooms doing little to soothe my nerves.

I had tried to make myself a sandwich, but every bite felt like lead in my stomach. The bread and cheese lay untouched on the plate in front of me, mocking my futile attempt at normalcy.

I forced myself to take another bite, chewing mechanically as my thoughts raced. What was Nolan doing here? Was he looking for me? Did Luca know I was hiding from him?

Why the fuck does he want me now? I already know he hated me from the way he rejected me. What does he want?

The taste of the food turned to ash in my mouth, and I swallowed hard, fighting the urge to gag. I pushed the plate away, my appetite completely gone.

My eyes darted to the doorway, half expecting Nolan to appear at any moment. The thought sent a shiver down my spine. I couldn’t afford to be found, not by him.

Taking a deep breath, I tried to focus on the sounds around me. The faint clinking of dishes, the murmur of voices, the distant laughter–all signs of life continuing as usual, oblivious to the turmoil inside me.

I couldn’t stay here forever, but where could I go? Elara’s absence left me feeling more vulnerable than ever. She had always been my rock, my confidante. Without her, I felt adrift.

A sudden wave of determination washed over me. I couldn’t let fear paralyse me. I had to find Elara, understand what was happening, and make a plan. But first, I needed to calm down, to think clearly.

I took a deep, steadying breath and leaned against the counter, closing my eyes. I visualised a calm, serene place–anything to anchor myself.

When I opened my eyes, I felt a bit more composed, ready to face whatever came next.

With a final glance at the uneaten food, I slipped out of the kitchen, moving quietly through the halls of the pack house. I kept my senses alert, avoiding any areas where I might run into Nolan.

My mind was already forming a plan: find Elara, get answers, and figure out

V next move.

For now, I would stay hidden, keep a low profile, and hope that whatever storm was brewing, I could weather it without being swept away.

1 stood in the corridor, my mind raced with thoughts that made my stomach churn even more than the uneaten sandwich in front of me.

I placed a hand over my belly, feeling the slight swell that was barely noticeable to others but constantly on my mind. I needed to eat because it wasn’t just about me anymore–I was carrying a baby. Nolan and Rowan’s child.

A wave of anxiety washed over me. What would happen when Nolan found out? Would he know immediately that the baby was his? Would Rowan understand? The implications were terrifying.

Nolan had always been unpredictable, and the idea of him discovering my pregnancy filled me with dread.

Would he be mad that he couldn’t kill me because I carried his child? Or would it make him even angrier, knowing he was tied to me in a way he never wanted?

I couldn’t decide which possibility was worse: his fury at being unable to eliminate me or his rage at the very existence of our child.

I shuddered, the weight of these thoughts pressing down on me like a physical burden. Taking a deep breath, I tried to calm myself. My baby needed me to be strong.

I couldn’t let fear dictate my actions. I needed to eat, to stay healthy, to protect this innocent life growing inside me. But the food just wouldn’t go down.

I forced myself to go back to the kitchen to take a bite of my uneaten food, chewing slowly, methodically.

The bread was dry and tasteless, but I swallowed it down, reminding myself it was necessary. I needed to keep my strength up, for both of us.

I continued to nibble at the sandwich, my thoughts kept, spiralling.

Would Nolan try to use the baby against me? Would he see it as a means to control me, to keep me under his thumb? Or would he reject us both, leaving me to fend for myself?

And what about Rowan? How would he react? Would he be a source of support, or would he distance himself, unable to reconcile the complexities of our situation? With his new mate?

I shook my head, trying to clear away the dark thoughts. There were no easy answers. All I could do was take things one step at a time.

I pushed the plate away, feeling slightly more resolute. I couldn’t let fear and uncertainty rule me. I had to stay strong for my baby, for myself.

I stood in the kitchen, trying to muster the courage to eat for the sake of my unborn child, I heard the click of heels against the tiled floor.

I looked up to see Lila, Alpha Luca’s ex, striding into the room. Her eyes immediately locked onto mine, and the contempt in her gazet

She stopped a few feet away from me, crossing her arms over her chest.

“So, this is where you’re hiding.” she said, her voice dripping with disdain. “While Luca is out there fighting for your safety, risking his life because of you.”

I blinked, taken aback by her hostility. Before I could respond, she continued, her tone growing harsher.

“That ruthless brute of a Prince, the one you’re so entangled with, is going to kill him. And it’s all because of your worthless ass.”

Her words stung, cutting deep into the fragile composure I had been trying to maintain

I wanted to defend myself, to tell her that it wasn’t as simple as she made it out to be, but the fury in her eyes silenced me. And she wasn’t wrong. No one deserves to die because of me.

Lila took a step closer, her glare intensifying. “Do you have any idea what you’ve done? Luca is a good man, and he’s out there fighting for someone who doesn’t deserve it. Someone who brings nothing but trouble and chaos wherever she goes.”

I clenched my fists, struggling to keep my emotions in check. “I never wanted any of this,” I said quietly, my voice trembling. “I didn’t ask for him to fight for me.”

“But he is,” she snapped, her lips curling in disgust. And for what? For someone who doesn’t even care about the consequences of her actions. You’re nothing but a burden, and now you’re pu

putting

Luca’s life at risk.”

The weight of her words pressed down on me, suffocating me with guilt and shame. She turned on her heel, throwing one last venomous look over her shoulder.

“If Luca dies because of you, I’ll make sure everyone knows it was your fault.” She threatened.

With that, she stormed out of the kitchen, leaving me standing there, shattered and hollow. Her accusations echoed in my mind, each one a dagger to my heart.

I had to do something, anything, to fix this, to make it right. But as I stood there, paralyzed by fear and uncertainty, I realised I had no idea where to start.
