CHAPTER 88
Chapter 88
Aurora stayed in silence for a long moment.
Then she turned around to face Damien with a far–away expression.
“What do you think last night was?” she asked.
The muscle under Damien’s right eye twitched.
He sensed her aloofness.
Joy was quickly fading away from his face.
After a small pause, he tossed the question right back at her, “What do you think last night was then?”
“Sex,” she answered in a straightforward manner.
“And nothing else?”
“No.” She shrugged, “Maybe a little bit of worry. I was told that mating is a part of this healing process. So—”
Her chin fell into Damien’s iron grip.
“You were having sex with me out of pity?!” he snapped, looking down at her with dark eyes.
Aurora was not intimidated by him. She looked back at him calmly.
“Your wolf needed me. And you enjoyed the sex. Why can’t we just leave it like that?” she said.
“Because I want more!”
Damien growled, sounding enraged and frustrated.
“I want you to come back and be my Luna. I want to claim you as mine, righteously! Seriously, Aurora, we were wonderful last night. I can tell that you desire me, just like I desire you. So why can’t you come back?”
Aurora breathed out a small sigh.
“Like I said, it was just sex. I won’t deny that I enjoyed the sex. But it doesn’t mean that I will be coming back to your side. I can enjoy those amazing sex even with other-”
Damien clenched her jaw abruptly.
“DON’T,” he warned her dangerously.
Aurora tilted her head and broke free from him.
“You get the drill,” she said.
Damien stood on his spot stiffly. Blood was oozing from the bandage on his chest. His hair was messy, and his eyes were bloodshot.
He looked like a defeated beast,
“I don’t get it.”
He said hoarsely after a long pause.
“You have feelings for me, clearly. So why are you pushing me away? Why make me fall for you and then become cold again? Is it because of another man?”
“This is not about any other people.”
“Then-”
“I am tired of being your Luina, Damien.” she said lowly, “Staying in that empty room all night and wondering when you might show up… It was like hell. When I left Silver Blade Pack, I had kissed my past goodbye. I can forgive you for the pain you caused me. But we can’t go back.” Damien stared at her deeply.
There was a mixed expression on his face: anger, frustration, agony, pain. Those emotions were so heavy that even Aurora started to feel hard to breathe.

Chapter 88
Eventually, he asked, “Yet you are fine with us having sex?”
Aurora bit her lower lip.
Then she nodded slightly.
Damien took a hand to stroke her long hair. His hand came to her car, his thumb gently rubbing her earlobe.
“Like we are fuck buddies,” he said.
Aurora didn’t know where he was going with this. She could only nod again reluctantly, “…if that is what you want to call it.”
“Fine.”
Damien turned away from her abruptly.
“You should leave my tent now, Gamma Aurora,” he said with his back facing her. “Like you said, we have plenty of things to do today.”
His tone was cold and distant.
Aurora looked at his blood–tainted bandage, “at least let me change the bandage for you-”
“Get the doctor. You can go now.”
He picked up his shirt and pulled it over his head. Then seeing that she was still standing there, he asked ironically, “What are you still doing here. Looking for a second round?”
“…I will get the doctor for you.”
Aurora turned around and walked out of the tent.
Aurora wondered down the street absent–minded.
After a brutal war, Crimson Fortress’s once bustling street was now scarred and broken. There was blood, weapons, and burned–down houses everywhere she looked.
Yet soldiers were all helping to get local residence’s lives back on tracks.
Temporary shelters had been set up. And there were makeshift markets that offered essentials for survivals. Street vendors served hot meals, filling the air with the smell of chicken soup that waft through the streets.
Aurora knew that she should be looking for Rivena and other Gammas. And they should discuss their next moves.
But her mind was still on Damien.
Her rationality told her that she did the right choice by rejecting Damien.
But her heart was not as determined.
The hurtful look on Damien’s face played over and over again in her head…
“Gamma Aurora!”
Aurora jerked around and saw a man running down the street towards her.
It was that local smith she saved from the rogue. Silas Voss.
“Gamma Aurora how are you doing?” he shook her hand enthusiastically, a bright smile on his face. “I just want to thank you again for saving my family. If there is anything you need, just like me know.”
Aurora forced out a smile, “You are welcome. How’s your wife
nd child? Do you have a place to stay at?”
“Oh yes. The rogues burned down our house, but soldiers built a tent for us on the ruins. Now I am working as a volunteer to help rebuilding the city.”
“That is nice.”
Aurora could feel his gratitude. But she was tired and had a lot on her mind and was in no mood for small talks.
“Listen, Silas, I probably need to talk to my-”

Silas suddenly leant in, his face all serious.
“Gamma Aurora, I want to volunteer myself to serve in your army. I hate the rogues more than anything. And luckily, I have some handy skills that can be useful in your army. I build weapons and am good with mechanism.”
Aurora frowned.
She appreciated his enthusiasm. But it was against the rule to enlist civilians.
She was searching for a nice way to turn him down when another person called her from her back:
“Aurora!”
It was Rivena, and Kaelan. Both of them looked worried.
Rivena ran up to Aurora and said urgently, “There is something you need to know—”
She paused and gave a quick glance at Silas.
Silas took the hint.
“Please think about it, Gamma Aurora,” he said that and walked away.
Rivena waited for Silas to disappear before saying to Aurora in a low voice, “The rogues that fled last night were seen moving toward the same direction. Our men followed them and saw them gathered at the Grand Canyon.”
Grand Canyon?
It was 200 miles from here, deep into the rogue’s territory.
“Maybe that is their headquarter,” Aurora said.
“And there is something else…” Property © 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.
Kaelan gulped.
“Our men said that they heard some loud cheering and howling in the canyon. All the rogues were roaring with the same name… the ‘Rogue King‘ Their passion ran so high that it didn’t sound like they just lost a battle.”
Aurora widened her eyes, “So the Rogue King is in the Grand Canyon now?”
“He probably never left their headquarter,” Rivena said.
This Rogue King was truly a mystery.
First, they thought that he was in Crimson Fortress; yet now they knew that he was hundreds of miles away.
They thought they had defeated him by taking down Crimson Fortress.
But as it turned out, they were not even close.
“We need to let the others know,” Aurora said.
She turned to leave. Yet Kaelan grabbed her wrist.
“Did you do it last night?” he asked, looking lost.
“Do what?” Rivena asked curiously.
Aurora’s jaw tensed. She shook him off forcefully and snapped, “You are crossing the line here, Kaelan!”
She hurried away in fume.
Aurora was so eager to get away from Kaclan’s interrogation that she didn’t look for her surroundings.
If she were a bit more cautious, she would notice that Silas had been hiding in a corner, listening to their conversation attentively. He never walked away for too far.
Now seeing the three of them left, a cold smile slowly appeared on Silas’s lips.
