Chapter 322
Chapter 322
“Ouch!”
I immediately yelled out in pain. The burn on my back wasn’t that big, the bruised area took up more of my back. But the burn hurt so much that I couldn’t handle it.
Neil quickly grabbed my shoulders and helped me back into a side-lying position. He said sympathetically, “I know it hurts, just try to bear it.”
“I think I just lie down for a bit.” I was still lost in pain, feeling completely drained. All I wanted was to lie down and rest.
Neil looked a bit puzzled. “Lie down and rest? Is that a good position?”
He probably asked unconsciously, but I immediately got his point. I felt a bit embarrassed and didn’t answer his question.
When Neil realized what he’d said, he couldn’t help but laugh. He had a nice voice, and it was even more charming when he laughed. “But given the size of your breasts, I don’t think you’ll be under much stress. He joked about my figure at such a time?
I was unfazed. “You’re right. Your technique is not good.”
Neil’s smile disappeared instantly, and he quickly asked. “My technique is not good?”
“Otherwise, why haven’t you reacted yet?’ I was feeling a bit better, I was even joking with Neil.
On hearing this, Neil asked suggestively. ‘Do you need me to try it out now?”
I was immediately on guard Luckily, I was lying down, so Neil couldn’t do anything if he wanted to.
Neil also realized the problem, and he sighed helplessly. I’ll just wait until you’re better, we’ll try it then.”
“Why don’t you ask the doctor to arrange the discharge and take Bailey and the others with you.” I changed the subject and instructed Neil.
Neil nodded, “Okay, III ask my mom to accompany you, it’ll be safer.”
Soon, Faith, who was shopping outside, returned. When she heard that I was going to be discharged the next day, she tried to earnestly persuade me to return with her. “Irene, why don’t you move back to Sterling Estates? I can take care of you there. You can bring your
mom too.”
I responded. “Well see. Don’t worry, I have Hannah to look after me.”
Faith sighed deeply, not insisting anymore.
The next day. Neil arranged my discharge.
To my surprise, Bonnie appeared again. She stood next to Neil, looking nervous, Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
As soon as Faith saw Bonnie, she got angry. She snapped, “What are you doing here again? Neil, did you invite her to the hospital?!” “She’s coming back with us” Neil said while looking at me.
I immediately showed displeasure, frowning and not saying anything.
I could feel Bonnie watching my reaction.
“No way!” Faith flatly refused. “She can go back the way she came!”
“I came by plane. Neil said you were planning to go back to Rosemont today and asked me to go with you. Sorry for the inconvenience.” Bonnie didn’t sound sorry at all, she seemed rather pleased.
Faith’s face darkened. I could feel the tension in the air, Bonnie was surprisingly composed.
“I’m totally against it!” Faith declared firmly. “I can’t possibly share cor with her. Neil, you make the decision.”
“You can take her car” Neil nodded at me, indicating that Faith should take my car.
Faith looked taken aback. I immediately said, ‘Faith, why don’t you ride with Oscar’s parents? Bailey can drive. That’s four people. Nell and I can go together”
I seemed to confuse Faith even more. She opened her mouth to say something but didn’t.
In the end, Neil, Bonnie, and I shared a car. I was injured, and my back couldn’t touch anything. If it had to, it had to be cushioned with a pillow to alleviate the pain.
Bonnie opened the rear car door for me. “Irene, why don’t you sit in the back? There’s more space, and you can lie down if you’re uncomfortable.”
“Fire” I responded coldly and got in the back. As long as I didn’t touch the wound, I was mobile.
Seeing that I didn’t object, Bonnie smiled and took the front seat.
Neil didn’t bring his driver this time, so he drove. Bonnie chatted with him all the way, completely ignoring me.
I didn’t mind, but it reminded me of myself in the past, going out with Neil, sitting in the passenger seat, trying to make conversation. It was a happy feeling.
“Neil, can I try driving? It’s a long way. You shouldn’t be driving all the time. I want to drive too.” Bonnie suggested this when we were taking a break.
“No need.” Neil refused outright.
“Please let me try, okay? If not, I’m not going!” Bonnie started to act spoiled.
Neil didn’t react, but I knew this wouldn’t work, I signaled him to agree to Bonnie’s request.
Neil took a deep breath, then slowly exhaled. I could tell from his face that he was trying to control his temper.
“Okay, but drive slowly.” Neil finally agreed.
Bonnie was thrilled. She took over the driving for the rest of the journey. Neil sat in the passenger seat. I thought Bonnie would just drive a bit slow, but it turned out to be quite the surprise.
As soon as we got off the highway, Bonnie started braking abruptly. The car would jerk to a stop now and then. Because of the inertia, I kept swaying back and forth. I bumped my back several times, causing me to break out in a cold sweat.
We had another sudden stop, and the pain in my back made me gasp.
“Irene, I’m sorry. The road here isn’t very good for driving. I didn’t do it on purpose…” Bonnie apologized with a guilty look on her face.
Obviously, she did it on purpose. I’m not a fool.
Bearing the pain, I said, “Maybe you shouldn’t drive anymore.”
“Are you dissing me?” Bonnie asked in a hurt tone. “I’ve been trying my best to drive smoothly, Irene. Don’t get me wrong, okay?”
No sooner had she finished speaking than the car suddenly ran over something. I was thrown back, the pain almost making me pass
out.
“That’s enough!” Neil suddenly yelled, and the car pulled over. “I’ll drive.”
Neil’s outburst scared Bonnie into silence. He got out of the car with a frown and walked over to the driver’s side, and Bonnie, with tears
in her eyes, got out.
I was in too much pain to pay attention to their reactions.
“Neil, do you… do you think I did it on purpose?” Bonnie asked with a sob as the car started again.
Nell replied coldly, “No, I just think you’re not familiar with this car.”
Bonnie looked back at me, her eyes full of jealousy. “No, you’re just worried that I might hurt Irene while driving.”
