Chapter 274
Chapter 274
I started having breakfast at the dining table, as if I hadn’t heard a word the servant said.
I didn’t ask him why he gave Bonnie more money in the first place. Every time I asked, the answer I got was always denial.
Now, I just treated Neil as a tool. Once the transaction was completed, there would be no debt between us.
Then Neils phone rang. He must have put it on silent mode last night, and it was just now responding. It must have been Bonnie calling.
I guess she must have been furious when she saw Ned pick me up. So she waited outside Sterling Estates all night.
Last time at Faith Whitmore’s birthday, she saw me, but she didn’t know that I was going to stay here.
“Aren’t you going to check it out?” I asked casually while eating I was very tired because of last night, and now I was also starving
“When she’s tired of waiting, she’ll leave. Neil responded. I didn’t know if he was trying to express his attitude to me or just saying it casually, “I have nothing to say to her.”
I looked down at the remaining food in my bowl, then pushed it away and started drinking a glass of milk. As for Neil’s response, I chose to ignore it.
After breakfast. Neil picked up his coat to accompany me out, but I refused, “You go to the office first, I want to rest a little longer. I’ll wait for Bailey to take me to see my dad”
‘T’ll take you.” Neil was about to put down his coat again.
“No need, Neil. If we really plan to get back together, it will be very tiring to go on like this in the long term, let’s just take it easy” I said with a frown
Neil paused, and his eyes flickered slightly, as if he were thinking about what I said.
A few seconds later, he nodded. “Okay”
While watching Neil leave, my nervous heart finally relaxed. From last night until now, I had been feeling a little uneasy.
After sitting for a while, I went to find the car keys, took a car from the garage, and rushed to the prison where my father was now serving his sentence.
As soon as I got out of Sterling Estates, I was blocked by Bonnie’s car. She hurriedly got out of the car, walked over, and began knocking on my window.
When I rolled down the window, I heard her yell, “Neil.”
I guess she didn’t even notice that was the one driving
“Why are you here?” After seeing me, Bonnie was stunned. Then a twisted jealousy appeared on her face, “Why are you here? Where is Neil?”
“He’s gone to the office. My smile was subtle, giving off a casual vibe, making Bonnie even more frustrated.
Bonnie’s voice was shaking a little, “That’s impossible! You’re not living here now, are you?”
I nodded, answering very casually, “Yes, Neil insists on me living here. After all, this is our matrimonial home, we’ve lived here for five years.”
“That’s impossible” Bonnie denied excitedly, Irene, you’re deliberately trying to piss me off, aren’t you?”
“What good does it do me if you’re upset? Didn’t you tell me that Neil loves you in his heart at the coffee shop last night? I really don’t understand why he brought me here to stay” I sighed lightly, “Maybe he’s just a playboy.”
Bonnie’s hand was tightly gripping the window sill, and her unwillingness to believe me was clear in her eyes. Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
“Where is Neil?” She asked again, seemingly determined to get an answer from Neil.
‘1 don’t know. Maybe he knew you were waiting for him here, so he left from the other side.” I closed the window after saying that, and Bonnie had to
withdraw her hand.
I drove off, and as to whether Bonnie was still waiting at Sterling Estates, that was her choice.
With Ned arranging things, I was able to see my dad smoothly.
In just a month or two, he had aged a lot, and even his sideburns had more white hair. I couldn’t help but cry.
“Rena, don’t cry How’s your mom? Did she wake up?” My dad smiled kindly
“Mom hasn’t woken up yet, but she is stable. Dad, don’t worry” I wiped away my tears and forced a smile.
“You haven’t suffered much since you were a kid, so you must be under a lot of pressure now, right?” My dad was worried about me from beginning to end, “If you can’t hold on, let go of the company. Your
mom and I left you some money; it’s enough for you to use. Your mom won’t blame you when she wakes up.
I couldn’t possibly do that. The company was my mom’s life’s work, and it was not the end of the road yet, I couldn’t possibly give up
Then we talked about the issue of those documents. My dad’s face was serious; he told me the ins and outs of everything he could.
Even he wasn’t sure if he had signed those documents because it all happened after drinking. The only thing he was sure of was that those people definitely got him drunk on purpose.
After I asked for the names and identities of those people, visiting time was almost over.
“Dad, take care of yourself, I will definitely get you out.” Before leaving. I promised him solemnly
My dad nodded at me.
Then I went straight to the company, and as soon as I got to the office, the assistant brought me an invitation to Russel Dawson and Chloe Reynolds engagement.
I looked at the invitation, feeling mixed emotions.
It was interesting. I once received Neil and Bonnie’s engagement invitation, and now I had received Russel and Chloe’s.
Two men, who I had deep relationships with, were both moving on and getting engaged to other women.
Then I received a message on my phone; it was from Chloe. “Ms. Finch, if possible, please do not attend Russel’s and my engagement banquet. Thank you.”
I was surprised. Was this invitation sent to me by Russel alone? He didn’t even discuss it with Chloe?
Since the bride-to-be didn’t want me to spoil the mood, I naturally wouldn’t go
“Mr. Daniel from Evershine Enterprises is coming to Rosemont today. Do you have any plans?” The assistant reminded me.
“See if he’s free; I’ll treat him to a meal.” I put the invitation in the drawer and told the assistant.
The assistant immediately started contacting Mr. Daniel’s assistant.
I had a feeling that if Mr. Daniel accepted iny dinner invitation, his daughter Kitty would also show up.
Also, things would become complicated once Kitty found out that I was now living at Sterling Estates. I really didn’t know how to explain it to her.
After a while, my assistant came to tell me that Mr. Daniel had agreed to have dinner together and that I got to pick when and where.
“Book a hotel for dinner; let’s have it tonight.” I didn’t want to rush home, living under the same roof as Neil felt a bit off.
“Sure thing, Ms. Finch” My assistant took the order and left.
After a day’s work, I freshened up a bit, then had Bailey drive me to the hotel we booked.
Just as I suspected, I wasn’t only greeted by Mr. Daniel of Evershine Enterprises but also by Kitty.
