Reborn Before The Divorce

Chapter 864 – Shot at the Wedding

Maddie was instantly a little shy, her cheeks flushed, “Thanks!”

“You’re the best man?”

“Yes, it looks like you’re the bridesmaid, and this bridesmaid dress looks great too.”

Maddie was a little overwhelmed by Vergil’s double compliment.

Nydia approached, “What are you guys doing?”

“Mrs. Pascall, I accidentally bumped into her and am making amends.”

“Oh, is everything okay?”

“Yeah.”

“Okay, go over and help set up the scene before it’s too late.” Nydia said.

“We’ll go set up then, Wagner, take a break.”

Vergil and Maddie went over to set up together, there was some understanding between the so called men and women working together.

“I think I bumped into you twice.” Vergil initiated the conversation.

“Seems like it.”

“Seems like we’re kinda related, do we have Facebook again?”

“Let’s see.”

Maddie actually knew there was, but pretended to open her phone and look at it anyway, “Yeah, added it a long time ago.”

The two of them hadn’t spoken much since they added it.

Vergil then sent her an emoji.

Maddie pursed her lips, a little confused as to what Vergil meant, did he have a crush on her? But what if it wasn’t, was it too presumptuous to think so?

The two continued to set up the scene.

“Actually getting married is kinda tiring, there’s a lot of stuff to get done.” Maddie felt a little awkward getting along like this and thought about talking to lighten the mood.

“It is more troublesome, quite a lot of people choose to travel to get married, it’s actually quite good, it’s less hassle.” Vergil said.

“Traveling to get married doesn’t take long, it’s not practical without a long vacation.”

“You definitely need a vacation for something as important as getting married, and I definitely need a vacation when I get married anyway, or else I’ll be in a hurry with Mr. Pascall!” Vergil half-joked.

Maddie was amused, “Do you have a girlfriend yet?”

“No, haven’t had time to look for one, and I’m even more afraid to do so now, in case I’m approached on purpose to deal with Mr. Pascall, then I’ll be a sinner.”

Vergil was cautious now, lest he should be the breach, for it was not a bad tactic, and the beauty trick was useful at all times.

“That’s true, a lot of people are very good at disguises.” Maddie nodded.

“What about you, do you have a boyfriend?”

“No, to be honest I’m quite scared, a lot of bad press nowadays, and I’m scared of men hitting on me, and I’m scared that men won’t get on, in short, I’m scared of a lot of things.”

“So it’s still good to find someone you know well.”

Maddie froze, her heart racing.

Was that a hint?

But in her eyes Vergil was really good, a very good match in terms of looks and build and income.

“Does that mean you have a target?” She also tried.

Vergil smiled, “I think I can try.”

With those words he walked off to another area to get busy, and it wasn’t like Maddie could follow up and ask him what he meant by that.

All she could do was look at him and withdraw her eyes, it was after that her eyes would always drift towards Vergil from time to time.

“Maddie, what are you looking at? Why are you distracted?” Nydia asked deliberately.

“No, nothing, maybe I got up a bit early today.”

“That’s right, then go back early to rest after you’re done in a while.”

“Uh-huh.”

Nydia smiled but didn’t say anything, it would be a beautiful thing if Maddie and Vergil could make it work, she felt that the two of them still stood together quite well.

The wedding was about to begin.Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

The place was all set up, it wasn’t very extravagant, but it was very well thought out and dreamy, at least Vultuulf herself liked it.

Vultuulf appeared in her wedding gown, holding her father’s hand, the delicate dress with long trailing tails, and Molly and Tavish followed behind with flower baskets, it was a beautiful scene.

Jesse and Nydia sat in the front row watching.

“Do I owe you a wedding?” He asked softly as he reached around her back and touched her earrings.

“You want to make it up to me?” Nydia thought about how her wedding to Jesse hadn’t been a wedding at all, with one not wanting to get married and the other in a wheelchair.

“Want to.” Jesse looked at Nydia fondly.

Nydia felt sweet inside, “Okay, I can design my own wedding dress.”

While the two were talking, Vultuulf’s father had handed her hand over to Vincent.

Vultuulf had tears in her eyes trying not to let them fall.

She was finally marrying him.

Vincent was also very emotional, but was trying his best to restrain himself.

In the presence of the priest, the two exchanged rings.

Vincent held Vultuulf in his arms and Vultuulf’s tears finally fell with restraint.

“Am I ugly for crying?”

“No, it’s beautiful, a beauty in tears will only I see pity.”

Vultuulf was amused by Vincent’s words.

She stood by Vincent’s side to receive everyone’s blessings.

However, just then …

“Watch out!”

A bullet hurtled towards Vultuulf.

The speed was so fast that it happened just in the blink of an eye, by the time everyone reacted, Vultuulf had already been shot, she fell down limply and Vincent immediately hugged her.

She tried to speak and as soon as she opened her mouth a large amount of blood spat out.

“Ambulance! Call an ambulance!” Vincent rushed to cover her wound, “Vultuulf, it’s okay, it’s okay, I’m a doctor, I’m a doctor, you’ll be fine!”

The wedding dress was stained with blood and her face turned white inch by inch.

“Vincent, I, I … love you!” She struggled to say the words, raising her hand to try and touch Vincent’s face.

Nydia rushed onto the stage, “People move out of the way first, Vincent, flatten her!”

“Trust me!” She said sharply, immediately pulling the needle out of her bag.

Jesse, on the other hand, immediately arranged for someone to hold the fort, not allowing a second wave of attacks to be launched.

In a short time, Vultuulf was covered in needles.

“I stopped the bleeding and sealed a few key spots for her, and was able to hold on until the ambulance arrived.”

Nydia was already sweating profusely, by now Vultuulf had passed out, Vincent had blood all over his hands and his ring was stained with blood.

When the ambulance arrived, they rushed to carry Vultuulf to the car.

“Vincent, you don’t need to do anything now, do it when you get to the resuscitation room, her life is not in danger for now.”

“Good.”

Vincent’s hands were shaking.

His eyes were red and he was obviously scared.

Vultuulf was shot in the heart position, he had to operate to know if there was still salvation, but based on his experience, in this position, it was more than likely to be fatal.

So he was panicking.

“I’ll go into the operating room with you when we get to the hospital, it’ll be fine, trust me!”

“You have to calm down now, you’re the best surgeon, you can’t put your wife’s life and death in someone else’s hands can you?”

Nydia’s words poked Vincent, he nodded his head vigorously and kept taking deep breaths and clenching his fists to calm himself.

When they arrived at the hospital, they both changed as fast as they could and went into the resuscitation room, where family members were waiting outside, filled with anxiety.

“Jesse, Vultuulf is going to be okay right?” Vultuulf’s parents were both very worried and grieving at this point.

“Nydia and Vincent are resuscitating together, I think it’s going to be okay.” Jesse replied.

“I’m going to ask God to trade my life for Vultuulf’s life too!”
