Chapter 614 - Bai Family Luncheon
Chapter 614: Bai Family Luncheon
Thus, the actual members of the Bai family did not treat this group of outsiders well.
Bai Chongshan as well as Bai Hong and his wife overheard Fang Xinxin’s whisper. A hint of smile appeared unanimously across their faces.
Bai Jingrou, however, clenched her fists tightly. She had planned to lead Fang Xinxin into mistaking the Bai family’s elders so that she would humiliate herself. Why did things appear to be moving out of her control…
A maid approached and bowed respectfully. “Lunch has been prepared.” C0ntent © 2024 (N/ô)velDrama.Org.
Bai Chongshan nodded sternly. “Let us all head there now.”
The group of them stepped into the Bai family’s dining room. It was connected to the Bai mansion’s enormous living room.
A large Chinese-style round table was placed in the centre of the dining room. A rotating tray was placed on top of it with various exquisite-looking dishes.
A lot of thought had also been placed in their seating arrangement. Elder Bai Chongshan took his seat first. Bai Hong and his wife then took their seats by his side. Next, Bai Qinghao, Huang Zhishu and Bai Jingrou took their seats.
Fang Xinxin deliberated over her own seat as she watched them. However, Bai Qinghao had already tugged the chair next to his. “Xinxin, sit here.”
She obediently took the seat he offered.
Bai Jingrou was coincidentally seated directly across from her.
Bai Chongshan glanced at Bai Jingrou and Fang Xinxin’s clothes with an insightful gaze. He then spoke to Bai Jingrou with some unhappiness. “Jingrou, pay attention to what you wear in the future. Don’t wear the same type of clothes as your future sister-in-law. Outsiders may view this as a sign of disrespect to her. You were too immature this time.”
These words were especially pleasing to Fang Xinxin’s ears.
Bai Jingrou’s future sister-in-law. In other words, Grandfather Bai approved of her relationship with Bai Qinghao.
As expected, Bai Qinghao’s relatives were just as wonderful as he was.
This time, Bai Jingrou’s eyes reddened genuinely. She spoke up in grievance. “Grandfather, I… I didn’t know that Miss Fang would wear this today.”
It was clear from the way she addressed her that she did not acknowledge Fang Xinxin’s identity.
Bai Chongshan naturally noticed this. However, as Fang Xinxin had yet to marry into their family, he allowed her to do as she pleased. “Do your best to avoid it. Do you understand?”
“I understand.” The more compliant Bai Jingrou behaved, the more enraged she felt on the inside.
Huang Zhishu watched as her daughter suffered a grievance. She was similarly angry but pretended to remain unfazed.
She had taught Chenxi and Jingrou that the more they wanted from the Bai family, the more they needed to keep their desires hidden.
“Grandfather Bai, you’re so adorable.” Fang Xinxin could not help but praise him.
She sighed internally and struggled to understand why she addressed such an adorable elderly as an ‘old peasant’ in her previous lifetime. She had immediately offended Bai Qinghao’s parents. Since then, she was completely isolated in the Bai family and only had Bai Qinghao on her side.
Thankfully, she had the opportunity to prevent the same event from repeating itself.
“Nonsense. How could you describe someone as stern as me as ‘adorable’!” Although Bai Chongshan reprimanded her, he did not appear to be unhappy in the slightest. Instead, he seemed to enjoy her words. The more he looked at Fang Xinxin, the more he was satisfied with her.
Fang Xinxin smiled without responding.
Bai Chenxi then stepped through the doors to enter the Bai mansion. He smiled gently to greet the elders. “Grandfather, Second Uncle, Second Aunt, Cousin, Mom.”
Huang Zhishu nodded lightly. Aside from her, no one responded to him.
He was used to this. He tugged his chair back to sit by Bai Jingrou’s side. “Cousin informed the entire Bai family to be present at lunch. I couldn’t possibly be absent for this.”
He did not look at Fang Xinxin. This was because he knew that the ones who held the Bai family’s power did not like him.
Right now, he did not have the ability to go against them.
