Chapter 658
Chapter 658
"Whose secret?" I asked casually.
Deborah looked at me, her lips moving as if she wanted to say something but was hesitant, as if fearing the consequences.Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
Realizing the severity of her situation, I raised my hand to stop her. "Then don't worry about telling me. I'll look into it myself."
"Licia, you don't need to dig into this, and please stop worrying about my problems. You've already helped me so much by paying off my debts, and I'm truly grateful," Deborah said, guilt lacing her words.
I looked at her, contemplating the secret she was reluctant to share.
"I'll pay you back, slowly but surely," Deborah said, avoiding my gaze.
With her current means of earning, repaying the five hundred thousand would indeed take her decades.
"Don't worry about the money. Just take care of yourself," I didn't want to burden her further.
Deborah shook her head, determined to repay me.
I didn't press further. Everyone has their own principles, and it wasn't my place to challenge hers.
Although Deborah refused to move back home, I insisted on getting her a new place. I rented a studio apartment for her, covering three years of rent, and thanks to Grant Smith's connections, I also found her a job at a local company to ease her burden.
I then called Fanny to arrange a meeting with her and Yates.
"Sure, I'll let him know. Once we decide on a time and place, I'll text you," Fanny said.
I agreed.
However, Fanny didn't get back to me, and I was unaware that she was facing a dilemma of her own.
Yates unexpectedly mentioned he wanted to meet Fanny's parents, which totally took her by surprise.
"Are you wanting to meet my folks because my uncle bumped into us yesterday?" Fanny couldn't think of any other reason for Yates's sudden decision.
"That's not it. I had planned to do this during my visit," Yates assured her, holding her close. "Even though our relationship is still young, our feelings for each other have a long history."
That was true, and Fanny knew it, but she still felt it was too soon. "Yates, do you realize what meeting my parents means?"
Yates intertwined his fingers with hers. "Of course, I do."
Fanny took a deep breath. "Yates,
maybe you should think it over. It we
don't meet my parents, it's just
between us. But once they're involved, it changes everything."

Yates turned her to face him, their eyes locking. "Fanny, I want to marry you. But it's not just about us agreeing; your parents need to be on board too."
His words warmed Fanny's heart, but she still questioned him, "Yates, are you sure I'm the one you want to spend your life with?"
This was the moment she had both longed for and feared. The thought of finally having what she wanted made her hesitant.
"Yeah, from the moment I met you, I knew it was you," Yates said, nudging her nose with his.
With such a declaration, what more could Fanny say? After all, this man was her entire youth.
Marrying him was a dream. Even as she fancied him, she had imagined becoming his bride one day.
"Alright, I'll talk to my parents, prepare them mentally," Fanny agreed.
When I finally got Fanny's message, she said we had to push back our meeting.
Her and Yates's family introduction was obviously a priority, so I wasn't in a rush.
That evening, changed into a fresh outfit and headed to the Sapphire Lounge, a prestigious nightclub owned by the Clark family in
Seabreeze City. The name itse
exuded dominance, attracting the city's elite and affluent clientele.
