Chapter98 Are You Alone
Are You Alone
"I understand," Adriana handed him a cup of tea.
Richard took the teacup and said, "I won't have dinner you tonight. Tomorrow Ted will pick you up at 7
pm."
"Ok."
Seeing that there were still a lot of pending documents on his desk, she then said, "I'll leave you to
work, and I'll leave now. Remember to have the soup, or it will get cold."
"Okay."
Richard had always been a man of few words. She had used to feel nothing wrong about it, but the
image of Pearl and him being together would always appear in her mind recently.
Was he also silent like this when he was with her?
Definitely not, she guess.
Humans were always greedy. She had felt that she only needed to keep Richard by her side, but now,
she couldn't help but want more.
Once she had a man, she wanted all of him, especially his heart.
When she left Richard's office, the secretary, June Lawson, greeted her, "Miss Wood."
Adriana politely nodded and asked, "Miss Lawson, how much time has Mr. Zellweger spent in his office
lately?"
"Quite a lot. He almost stays in the company all day recently."
"Oh, okay. I just want you to pay more attention, and remind him to remember to eat on time. He
sometimes has stomachache."
"Okay, I got it."
"Then I'll leave now. Sorry to trouble you."
"You're welcome. This is what I should do."
"If Miss Wood saw you rolling your eyes, you'll lose your job." After Adriana left, Ted came out of the
pantry with a cup of coffee. He saw his cousin rolling her eyes at the administration desk,
June had quite the shock, but when she saw it was Ted, she was relieved, "I just can't stand fake
people. It's obvious that she wants to find out Mr. Zellweger's usual whereabouts, but she just used a
lot of excuses."
"Women are just like this, aren't they? Wouldn't you be curious about your boyfriend's whereabouts?"
"But they're going to get married soon. Why is she still so suspicious? What's the point?"
Ted looked at her calmly and asked, "If you could marry the heir of the Zellweger family, but you'll never
know the whereabouts of your fiancé. Would you still marry him?" Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
"Of course."
After replying him without hesitation, June then said confidently, "He's a billionaire. I'm an idiot if I
don't."
"Obviously, many people think the same as you."
Including Adriana Wood.
As night fell, two women laid side by side in the VIP room of a beauty salon. Their faces were covered
with masks.
"What's up? Are you in a bad mood again?" Adriana's friend, Amy, asked, "Was your dear Mr.
Zellweger involved in a scandal again?"
"What kind of scandal does he even have?" Adriana said gloomily.
After leaving Richard's company, she felt very upset, so she invited her bestie to the beauty salon.
"All is good then. Richard owns Zellweger Group now. He could go out to enjoy himself with as many
women he wants but there's no scandal at all. You should be happy about this."
"But it doesn't mean that he has no one else in his heart."
"This again," Amy was clearly not in favor of Adriana's point, "How many men don't have any tricks up
their sleeves? Everything will be yours once you've married him anyway. You just have to bear with it."
"I feel that something may happen before the wedding."
"Something may happen before the wedding?"
"Amy," Adriana suddenly asked, "Can you get the drug that you mentioned last time?"
Amy was startled for a second, "Yeah, but what do you want it?"
"I just need it."
After saying this, Adriana clenched her fist. She then slowly closed her eyes.
She and Richard will get married soon, but as long as Pearl stayed in Kityall City, she wouldn't rest
easy. So she had to do something to secure her position.
The next day was the birthday of Victoria Louise.
The Mountain Hotel was full of guests. There were countless luxury cars in the parking lot.
Ted went to Adriana's apartment at 7 pm to pick her up.
Seeing Richard didn't come, she asked, "Where's Richard?"
"Mr. Zellweger still has a meeting so he'll be late. I'll send you to the banquet first."
Upon hearing this, her face changed a bit, "He still has a meeting this late?"
"There was an emergency meeting at 4 pm about the annual acquisition. If you don't believe me, I may
ask my colleagues to send you a video." Ted answered.
"There's no need." Adriana frowned a bit and turned to look out of the car window.
Hearing this, Ted was relieved and started to fully focus on driving.
It seemed that June was right. Miss Wood's demeanour was indeed not the same as before. She was
so suspicious of many things, but Mr. Zellweger was really in a meeting now.
When they arrived at the Mountain Hotel, Adriana showed the invitation to the reception.
"When will Richard come?" She asked Ted.
"I'm not clearly about it. Should I give him a call?"
"Okay. I just think it's not good for him to be late."
"Sure. Then I'll call him."
After Ted left the banquet hall, Adriana took a glass of juice and sat down alone at the bar. She didn't
know any of the guests. Small fries like her would not get in touch with people like them.
She felt annoyed because this was the first time she had openly attended an event with Richard.
However, he didn't come with her, as if he had done it on purpose.
Could it be because he knew that his mother tried to create an opportunity for her and was unhappy?
"Are you alone?" A male voice suddenly came from beside her, interrupting her thoughts.
Adriana turned around was astonished.
She had originally thought that Richard was already a very handsome man, but the man in front of him
was not just handsome. He was gorgeous.
He was tall with a fitting black suit, and his figure made him look like a model. He was looking at her
politely and in a gentlemanly manner.
Adriana could tell at a glance that this man was dangerous, but his advances had also proven that she
had charm to be flirted with by such a good-looking man.
"No, I'm waiting for my friend." She unconsciously combed her fingers through the thin strands of her
hair.
"What a coincidence, I'm also waiting for my friend," the man gave a small smile, his eyes seemingly
shining. "This one is not strong. Would you like a drink?" He took two cups of cocktails from the waiter
beside him.
