My Mirror Image by Maybe Not (Candice And Alex’s)

Chapter 0400

Chapter 0400

He scrutinized Candice from head to toe, his face unusually serious.

Under his gaze, she paused and looked up, asking, "Is there something on my face?"

Hanley's gaze was distant, his attitude somewhat cold as he asked, "You went drinking?" This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.

Candice knew he had misunderstood, so she could only explain.

However, Hanley's expression didn't change much after listening. He looked down at her, his jaw tensing, even the tenderness in his affectionate eyes becoming more serious.

He remained silent for a moment before speaking, his voice tinged with helplessness and sighs. "Don't go to such places in the future. Do you want your baby to grow up to be an alcoholic? Besides, Henry was there; it's not safe."

The day Hanley arrived in Solaris, Candice had told him about Henry's situation. After all, it couldn't be kept a secret, and as her current boss, Hanley had the right to know. Otherwise, if Henry caused trouble like Yvonne, it would be troublesome if Hanley didn't know anything.

She could see the concern in his eyes, so she nodded. "I won't go there again."

As soon as she finished speaking, a series of footsteps sounded behind her, followed by a faint smell of alcohol.

Sawyer followed behind Alex, quietly greeting her. "Candice, when did you come back?"

Candice turned and caught sight of Alex.

It was early winter, and he wasn't wearing a coat, only a thin shirt with the collar open, revealing a glimpse of his chest. After drinking, his skin had a pinkish tint, and his black eyes would be bright,

making him seem much more approachable.

With his coat casually draped over his arm, he looked down at Candice from a high vantage point, his eyes harboring inexplicable emotions.

Candice hesitated, and Sawyer explained in a low voice, "Mr. Elysian was persuaded to drink a bit too much."

"Since he's been drinking, Mr. Elysian should go back to his room and rest as soon as possible." Hanley spoke before Candice could. He had already stepped in front of her, blocking the faint smell of alcohol emanating from Alex.

Candice couldn't see Alex's expression, she could only hear a soft chuckle from him, followed by his retreating steps.

Hanley turned back to her. "Let's go."

The dishes Hanley brought were all delicious, with authentic Dorrington flavors.

During the meal earlier, Candice hadn't eaten much. Now, smelling the food, her appetite rose strongly.

Hanley poured some broth for her and said after some thought, "I'm going back to Dorrington."

Candice nodded. Hanley had only come here to handle customer orders. Now that the orders were settled, he definitely had to go back.

"When are you leaving?"

A hint of bitterness flashed in his eyes as he asked her, "Are you so eager for me to leave?"

Candice stopped eating, saying, "The projects in Dorrington are waiting for you to return. If you don't go back, Ryan will complain every day."

She knew he had initially planned to stay for only two or three days. But because she had been in the hospital, he had stayed longer. If she delayed him further, she would feel guilty.

Hanley hesitated for a moment before finally saying, "Take care of yourself if you're not feeling well. Don't go everywhere. Don't meet everyone."

The next day Hanley’s flight was in the afternoon, and he was in a hurry. After finishing up with the conference hall, Candice sent him to the airport.

Due to the issues with the Redshade Corporation tender conference, Hanley said he would go back to Dorrington to arrange the follow-up work, and then come back to Solaris. Meanwhile, Candice had to stay there to handle the Redshade Corporation matters.

When Yana knew Candice couldn't return to Dorrington yet, she insisted on coming to Solaris to find her, but she was stopped by Nadia. Candice had no idea when Barox had left. She had been extremely busy lately and had almost forgotten about him.

Once Hanley left, all the Redshade Corporation tender conference matters fell on her shoulders.

Although she had discussed most of the matters with Hanley, dealing with them was still somewhat tricky; especially with Quentin and Darius openly targeting Burning Star Studio and Aether Corporation, making things even more difficult.

Another meeting ended, and as Candice was packing up, Angela and Yondu approached.

Angela's studio was almost confirmed for success, and Yondu was with Abel so they didn't need to worry. They looked at Candice with pity in their eyes.

"You're really in a sorry state. This is the first time I've seen you so miserable. All the amendments seem tailor-made for you guys," Yondu said.

With a forced smile, Candice replied, "There's still a chance."

"Indeed, there is." Angela smirked and glanced towards the meeting room's entrance. "Do you see the opportunity over there?"

Following her gaze, Candice saw Alex and Sonia standing at the entrance of the meeting room. Sonia held some documents and was earnestly discussing something with Alex, appearing to be talking about work.

Candice quickly averted her gaze. Alex and Sonia discussing work? Who would believe that?

At the door, Sonia looked up at Alex with a hesitant and conflicted expression. She seemed a bit nervous, clutching the documents tightly in her hand.

"I know it's difficult for Aether Corporation to succeed in this tender conference. But I can help you." She straightened her back, looking into his eyes, trying to look calm. "I have a way to help Aether Corporation win the bid, and I can also persuade Redshade Corporation to revise the rules to be less biased against you."

Alex's gaze briefly swept over the red mark on her neck, his expression unchanged. "Not necessary."

"But you know how difficult Aether Corporation's situation is right now." Hearing his refusal, an anxious expression flashed across Sonia's face. She lowered her voice and pleaded, "Alex, I can help you."

Her voice was soft, but if one listened carefully, they could hear the hoarseness in her tone, filled with assistance. She stood in front of him and stared at him fixedly, stubbornly waiting for an answer.

"I don't have a habit of relying on women to do business." Alex's eyes were extremely cold, leaving only this sentence before he walked away.

Meanwhile, Sonia stood frozen in place. Did he know? Suddenly, a deep fear filled Sonia's eyes as she looked in the direction Alex left.

At the same time, her phone rang.

As soon as she picked up, she heard an impatient voice, "Why are you only answering now? Aunt Jocelyn wants you to find a job for your cousin. Arrange it properly, but don't give him too low a salary."

Sonia came to her senses and suppressed the doubts in her heart. "He didn't even graduate from high school. Where can I arrange a job for him?"

"How would I know? It's your fault for not being able to keep Alex. I think you're stupid. You didn't seize such a good opportunity. Do you think you can always hook up with such a rich man? You don't even know how to cherish..."
