Chapter 789
Chapter 789
Jasper punched Bradley, his voice strained and desperate. "Bradley, open your eyes and see clearly
who caused her death! It's you! You imprisoned her, denied her freedom, and forced her to choose
death over being captured by you!"
Kevin stood alongside Jasper. "There's no point in talking to him. He's not human—he lacks the human
emotions needed to understand that he's the one who killed Esther!"
Police cars, fire trucks, and ambulances raced to the scene.
Coastal Highway 9 had once been hailed as the most beautiful road. It offered breathtaking scenic
views when driving, and it was a popular spot for couples to take wedding photos.
Due to this accident today, warning signs were temporarily erected, prohibiting anyone from using the
highway.
Esther's car had plummeted more than 100 meters down the cliff, which made the rescue operation
challenging. The base of the cliff led to the seaside, which was inaccessible by car.
The firefighters were left with no choice but to use ropes to rappel from above.
The firefighters on the cliff's edge used high-pressure hoses to extinguish the flames. The blazing fire
had completely consumed the vehicle, turning it into a charred frame, with the driver's seat occupant
reduced to a blackened corpse.
The moment the body was hoisted up, Bradley rushed forward. His vision was extraordinary, and even
in the dark, he could clearly see the charred corpse.
The air was filled with a foul, nauseating stench. Despite Kevin's broad experience, seeing the charred
corpse still made him feel sick.
"This isn't Esther!" Bradley stared at the charred body, struggling to accept the reality.
"Bradley, are you blind?" Kevin withheld his discomfort and rebuked with anger, "The license plate on
the car matches Esther's car. You were continuously pursuing Esther, too. Now, you're saying it's not
her? Then tell me, who is it?"
Jasper patted Kevin's shoulder and advised, "Kevin, don't waste your energy arguing with him."
Kevin's eyes were reddened as he turned around to face Jasper, whose eyes filled with profound grief.
"How much pain must she have been in!"
Kevin couldn't bear to think about the pain Esther must have felt when falling from the cliff and the
agony when the fire engulfed her. In her final moments, she must have been terrified and full of regret.
Kevin wiped away his tears and wanted to admit that it was his fault. He shouldn't have let Bradley
keep chasing after her. She had only been in such a rush because Bradley had been persistently
pursuing her and colliding with her car.
Kevin thought that if he could turn back time, even just for ten minutes, he would have grabbed the
steering wheel from Bradley's hands. He would rather fight for control of the steering wheel, even if it
meant they both had an accident, even if it meant broken limbs, as long as they were still alive. It would
be better than Esther departing this world in such a manner.

Jasper looked at the charred body on the stretcher and said in a pained voice, "She was terrified of
pain. Yet, Bradley repeatedly hurt her like this..."
Kevin took a deep, painful breath and comfortingly put his arm around Jasper's shoulder.
"Jasper, you know, it would have been so much better if you had taken Esther from Bradley back then!
What's with this pretense of being a gentleman?"
Jasper looked up, forcing his tears to stay back.
