Chapter 726
In the ICU.
Felix quietly watched over Esther. He read a book and stayed by her side in silence. When he grew
tired of reading, he grasped Esther's hand and nestled his little face against the back of her hand, © 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
eventually falling asleep.
Seeing Felix sleeping so peacefully, Agatha, who had just entered, chose not to wake him. Instead, she
gently lifted him and placed him in Esther's arms.
Felix slept peacefully in his mother's embrace, and they cuddled closely. Agatha hoped that Esther
might wake up from her coma upon feeling Felix's presence.
Agatha examined Esther and administered acupuncture treatment as planned. As she inserted the final
needle, Esther, who had been in a coma, suddenly opened her eyes.
"Grandma Foster..." Esther's voice was hoarse as she gazed at Agatha in disbelief. "Am I dreaming?"
Agatha was accustomed to life's uncertainties and couldn't help but shed tears at that moment.
"No, dear, this is no dream."
Tears welled in Esther's eyes. She had thought she would die when she collapsed in a pool of blood,
but there she was, alive.
"Grandma Foster, it hurts so much." Esther couldn't help but whimper when she saw Agatha's
concerned face. "It really hurts."
She felt like every cell in her body was screaming in pain.
Agatha gently touched Esther's forehead and, considering her condition, casually remarked, "It's
supposed to hurt. Pain will help you remember."
Tears flowed from Esther's eyes like broken pearls.
Agatha softly patted Esther's shoulder and shifted her attention. "Felix is in your arms. Take a look at
him."
Esther glanced at Felix, peacefully sleeping in her embrace. Her pain seemed to vanish at that
moment, replaced by an overwhelming sense of contentment.
"Esther, due to the issues between Bradley and you, Felix developed psychogenic mutism."
Agatha summarized Felix's condition to Esther.
"Don't be alarmed." Agatha explained Felix's condition briefly, "In Felix's mind, he couldn't protect you
or confront his powerful father. That's why he developed this condition. Esther, your son is guarding
you in his own way, so you must stay strong."
Esther's heart raced. The monitoring equipment struggled to keep up with her heightened heart rate,
emitting a piercing alarm.
Agatha held Esther's hand firmly and emphasized, "Esther, hold on. You can do it."
Even so, Esther's electrocardiogram alarmed Agatha with its intensity. Just when Agatha feared Esther
might not make it, Felix awoke. He didn't speak but reached out and tightly embraced Esther's neck.
'Mommy, don't die!
'Mommy, 'I love you!'
