My Gentle Wife is a Real Divine Being

Chapter 684

Debra chuckled to herself.

It appeared Shelia hadn’t changed after all. She was still as arrogant as before.

People like her, who flaunted their rise, usually had the hardest falls.

In the underground parking lot, Marion had just stepped out of his car. He popped a lollipop into his mouth when a pair of hands covered his eyes from behind.

“Quit messing around.”

“How did you know it was me?

Marion grabbed her hand, a smirk playing on his lips

“Even with my eyes closed, I know it’s you.”

“I heard you never let anyone sneak up on you from behind.”

“That’s true.”

“I’ve got some bad news.”

Debra turned serious, recounting everything that Ben had just shared with her, watching as a deep frown formed on Marion’s face.

She reached out, smoothing his furrowed brow with her thumb.

“What’s with the face? I’m not even that upset, but you seem more worried than I am.”

“It’s my fault. I thought Ben and Michael could handle it.”

Debra linked her arm with his, offering a reassuring smile. “Well, it’s already happened, and all we can do now is try to fix things. Besides, this was my problem to begin with. You’ve done nothing wrong.”

“Did Shelia give you a hard time?”

“Not really. I can handle myself. You know I’m not one to lose in a verbal sparring match.”

*Just making sure you get the respect you deserve,” he replied, his voice softening with affection.

“Don’t you usually not bother with women?”

“When it comes to you, I make an exception.”

“Alright, since you’re being so good, let me show you something.”

She pulled out the divorce agreement and the finalized divorce certificate, placing them in front of Marion. The official stamps and the word ‘Divorce‘ were clear as day.

Marion stared at the documents for a long time.

“What’s wrong? Not happy?“.

“No, I’m happy.”

“Then why did you freeze up like that?”

“I was just thinking about whether City Hall will open on weekends.”

“Huh?”

Before she could process what he meant, Marion grabbed her hand and pulled her into the car.

“Marion, stop messing with me.”

“I’m not.”

He eagerly started the engine, and the car shot forward with a sudden burst of speed. In no time, they were parked in front of City Hall.

Looking up at the sign, Debra asked, “Marion, have you considered one thing?”

Marion turned to her, his eyes filled with determination. “I’ve considered everything. The only thing I want is for you to marry me.”

“That’s not what I meant,” Debra said, hesitating.

Marion’s eyes dimmed slightly. After a long pause, he gathered the courage to ask, “You don’t want to?”

Debra quickly shook her head. “It’s not that I don’t want to. It’s just that I didn’t bring my identification documents.” Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
