Chapter 1529
A healthy person suddenly losing a kidney would inevitably face significant challenges to their life and health moving forward. Most people become weaker after such a surgery.
From the way Finn spoke, it sounded like he was merely asking for a small favor from Steven and the others. In reality, they suspected he was planning to ask for bone marrow donations.
Finn had always been driven by ulterior motives. Everyone knew that to achieve his goals, he was willing to disregard anything, even family—he would abandon his wife and children if it meant securing a comfortable life for himself.
However, Skylar never imagined Finn would stoop so low as to target Steven and the others' kidneys.
"This is something you should decide. Do you want to tell Steven and the others?" Joe asked.
Skylar furrowed her brows. "This man has no shame, and his behavior keeps getting more outrageous. For my brothers, it's devastating to have such a father.noveldrama
"If they find out he's targeting their organs, it will hurt them even more. He hasn't shown up these last few days-maybe he's already given up." "Given up? I don't think so. We should prepare for the worst," Joe said, not as optimistic as Skylar.
Skylar nodded in agreement. "You're right."
Anyone with a sense of decency and shame wouldn't abandon their family. And after doing so, they certainly wouldn't have the audacity to return and make such a request.
Joe gently pulled Skylar into his arms, resting his chin on her head. Her hair was soft and smooth, with the lingering scent of shampoo-a scent he particularly liked.
"Steven and the others haven't truly seen the darker side of human nature. Finn and his lot won't give up easily.
"The girl has been waiting for a long time, and since she hasn't been able to get a transplant, she likely doesn't have much time left. They'll come after Steven and the others again," Joe said solemnly.
Skylar clenched her teeth and said, "Why don't they just give their own kidneys? How dare they target my brothers' kidneys? It's absurd!"
She was furious. She loved her family with all her heart. There was no way she would let these shameless people hurt them.
Joe looked at Skylar, her face
flushed with anger, and couldn't help
but smile at how cute she looked.

"You're right. They've never even considered donating their own kidneys. They haven't bothered with compatibility testing."
"Shameless!" Skylar was genuinely furious.
Joe gently soothed her anger, then suggested softly, "Let's go out for dinner tonight."
Skylar shook her head. "I don't really feel like eating out. I had a barbecue with my colleagues for lunch, and my stomach still feels off. I'll just cook some pasta and make a couple of dishes instead."
She stood up, preparing to head to the kitchen.
Joe stood as well. "I'll help you."
Skylar smiled. "Okay."
The two of them worked well together when it came to daily life, always contributing equally. Neither of them expected the other to bear the weight of the relationship alone.
At the variety show's recording site, the live broadcast tested celebrities' abilities to entertain on the spot.
Charles had initially wanted to decline the show. Finn's recent reappearance had taken a toll on his mood.
However, the show's director had previously offered him opportunities during his lowest point, giving him exposure that eventually led to roles with speaking parts.
Out of gratitude and obligation,
Charles found it difficult to refuse. The company also believed the show would benefit his career. Since he had already signed the contract, backing out would mean paying a hefty penalty fee.
With no mentors, the 20 participants were handed scripts and divided into groups to perform scenes. Their performances would be judged by a live audience vote.
Before Charles even entered the venue, his phone-which he had handed over to Freddie-had been ringing non-stop.
