Chapter 1418: Anomaly

Unable to handle it herself, she had no choice but to go back and find Ayan.

So, after leaving the police station with Grace, she had already planned to head straight back to Franklin Bay. Just as the car started moving, Grace suddenly brought up an idea, "Cami, should we go and see Vere?"

Camille was taken aback and instinctively looked at Grace, asking, "What are you saying? You're not having a change of heart, are you? Grace, let me tell you, it's not a good idea to entertain such thoughts."

Camille was a bit anxious, her eyes filled with worry. In reality, there was a high possibility that this idea would come up because Grace was easily swayed and lacked her own judgment due to being influenced by Brody Page before. It was evident to everyone, which was why Camille was so concerned.

However, Camille's reaction made Grace unable to hold back her laughter. She said, "Cami, I'm not that foolish."

This time, Camille was stunned and quickly said, "I didn't mean to call you foolish. I'm just afraid that Regina might deceive you due to your soft-heartedness."

"Of course not. I just think Vere is innocent and want to go and see him. It's also an opportunity to learn about some things we don't know. Right now, it's only Vere with Regina, and there might be some unexpected situations, you know?"

Camille fell silent for a moment and then nodded lightly, agreeing to the suggestion.

So, the two of them turned around and headed towards the small villa where Regina resided.

Since Grace had been there yesterday, she was familiar with the route and easily arrived at the villa. She pressed the doorbell, and Vere opened the door.

Seeing Grace, Vere's face brightened up. He wasn't very familiar with Camille and didn't see her often, so he felt more acquainted with Grace.

Vere asked Grace, "Sister Grace, where's my mom? Didn't she go out with you? Why hasn't she come back yet?"

Grace replied, "Auntie had some other things to take care of, so it might take a few days!"

Vere nodded and asked, "Did she mention anything specific?"

Grace shook her head, "It's something related to adults, and I'm not very clear about it."

The three of them followed Vere into the house. After Auntie finished cooking for him, she left, so now Vere was the only one at home. They all sat down in the living room and had a brief chat. Since Vere's grades weren't exceptionally good, Regina didn't want him to attend university in Hance City and planned to send him abroad.

From Vere's response, it could be concluded that he himself didn't know about his relationship with Brody, but he knew that his Uncle Brody treated him exceptionally well, and Aunt Page was also very responsible. As for his own mother, Regina, she had to take care of the small shop most of the time, so it was Auntie who accompanied him.

While they were chatting, Camille received a message from Ayan on her phone: "Haven't you already returned from the police station? Why haven't you arrived home yet?"

This person seemed to have a pair of eyes fixed on her, watching her every move. Such attention was actually quite good, at least for safety reasons.

A faint smile appeared at the corner of Camille's mouth, and she calmly replied, "Your mother asked us to come back and bring her some fresh clothes and daily necessities. Do you want to take us to her room?"

Vere looked at Camille, still a bit shy, but quickly nodded, "Okay."

Vere led the two of them to Regina's room, while Grace stayed behind to chat with Regina. Camille pretended to tidy up the clothes but discreetly glanced around and noticed a safe in the wardrobe. What was inside was unclear.

After they finished packing the clothes, Vere suddenly asked, "Sister, can you help me bring some money to my mom? She's not used to using a phone, and I'm worried it might inconvenience her."

After finishing speaking, Vere walked familiarly to the wardrobe and opened a locked drawer. Inside were neatly arranged stacks of cash, and at first glance, the amount was considerable.

Grace and Camille exchanged glances, then Grace asked, "Vere, why do we have so much cash at home?"

"It was sent by Uncle. Mom isn't used to using a phone, so we have more cash at home. She said this money is to be put under my name when I come of age," Vere said, smiling. He added, "Mom doesn't allow me to tell anyone, but you're my sisters, not just anyone." Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

Vere believed that Grace and Camille didn't lack money, so naturally, they wouldn't have any thoughts about this money. That's why he spoke the truth without any worries.

However, Camille's and Grace's hearts skipped a beat upon hearing Vere's words. It seemed that some things were gradually moving toward the truth.

Nevertheless, the two didn't show any sign of unease in front of Vere; they simply nodded calmly.

Leaving Regina's room, Grace carried the things intended for Regina and said to Vere, "It's getting late. We should go now. Tomorrow, we'll bring the items to Auntie. Stay safe at home, and if you need anything, give me a call, okay?"

"I know, Grace. Don't worry," Vere obediently nodded in response.

Once the two of them left the villa, they got into their car directly. Instead of immediately driving away from the villa, they stopped by the roadside not far from it.

Confused, Grace looked at Camille and asked, "Why aren't we leaving?"

"Let's wait a bit," Camille said. She didn't know if they could wait, but considering the time, which wasn't early anymore, and the approaching mealtime, she wanted to see if Vere was really alone. She also wanted to know if Regina was truly hiding something from everyone.

During this time, Ayan called as well. Although Camille replied to the message, she started to worry when she realized that Vere hadn't returned yet.

Ayan asked, "Where are you staying?"

"Near Regina's villa. I've discovered something. Can you have someone investigate it? I suspect that Regina's child has no relation to the Armstrong family. She must have a man she's hiding from everyone. The boyfriend she claims to have in another city is likely just a cover for us. Maybe there really is another man involved."

Camille didn't want to say this in front of Grace, but the situation was urgent. Another minute delay could lead to unforeseen circumstances, so she had to be straightforward with Ayan about her thoughts and discoveries.

Her words greatly surprised and shocked Grace. Since Camille was still talking to Ayan, Grace couldn't interrupt for the moment. She could only focus all her attention on Regina's villa.

Their position allowed them a clear view of the villa's entrance. The separate small villa gates and garage doors were all in the front, and anyone wanting to enter would have to go through the main gate.

Grace kept a close watch, while Camille's voice echoed in her ear, "I suspect this man has been hiding behind Regina all along. Or maybe he has some other identity. Otherwise, he wouldn't tolerate Regina's relationship with Dad. My mind feels so chaotic. Can you figure out the connections? Did your previous investigation of Regina reveal anything related to this man?"
