Chapter 265
Chapter 265
“First, let’s see who can find the mastermind behind those previous incidents. Second, outperform me in marksmanship.” Cynthia listed the tasks one by one.
Joshua found these two tasks easy. “And what about the third?”
“I haven’t thought of it yet. Once you’ve completed these two tasks, I’ll let you know. But let me make it clear, as long as you haven’t won all of them, even if you lose, don’t come to disturb me for the rest of your life.”
“Alright.”
Cynthia breathed a sigh of relief. Finally, she would have some peace and quiet for a while. She glanced at her wristwatch and saw that it was already past ten o’clock. Then, she spoke slowly, “Can you open the door now and let me go back?
“Stay here tonight. We’ll compare the second task early tomorrow morning,” Joshua said, confident in his marksmanship. Then, he turned around and grabbed a bag. “It’s clothes for changing”
Cynthia contemplated rejecting his offer, but after a moment’s thought, she could not be bothered to argue and accepted the bag. After that, she went to the room Joshua had pointed to.
Once she entered, she lacked the door behind her and threw her coat on the bed before heading to the bathroom with the sleepwear.
Joshua heard the sound of the door locking. In that instant, he did not know whether to commend her for being cautious or criticize her for being overly guarded against him.
Cynthia was in the bathroom, washing her hair and taking a bath. As she pondered over the tasks she had discussed with Joshua, she recalled some things.
Initially, she had no intention of getting involved in the previous incidents, as she could not be bothered with such trivial matters. However, when she put herself in that person’s shoes, she decided to take action.
Joshua suddenly appeared in Nexuria and visited her home, repeatedly bothering her. Judging from the modus operandi of the person behind the scenes, they would undoubtedly target her.
What a.. trouble.
Meanwhile, in a dark underground basement overseas, the room was illuminated by dim lights.
A disheveled woman with bruises and red marks on her face lay on the ground, her eyes closed.
Her neck, feet, and hands were all bound with iron chains
Several dead snakes lay beside her.
Thump, thump, thump
Footsteps echoed through the basement.
The woman in the white attire trembled at the sound. After enduring prolonged torment, her body instinctively feared this kind of noise,
As the footsteps drew nearer, a man dressed in a suit, exuding a dangerous aura, entered the basement.
His skin was pale, but it gave off a sickly impression.
“Wake her up,” he said, flicking the cigarette in his hand, his gaze fixed on Jayleen in the corner.
Immediately, the person following behind him poured a bucket of ice–cold water on Jayleen’s face.
Splash!
The frigid water sent shivers down her spine
Jayleen jolted awake, abruptly opening her eyes and sitting up.

The icy water flowed down her neck, soaking her clothes and causing her to shiver.
The man took a deep drag of his cigarette, then flicked the butt onto the ground and stomped on it before walking toward Jayleen NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.
His face was not much different from Joshua’s, but it always gave off a serpent–like danger, permeating the air with peril.
“Have you made your decision?” The man crouched halfway before Jayleen, raising his hand to pat her face.
“Jayleen.”
Jayleen shuddered, a mixture of fear and dread coursing through her.
