Chapter 532
Selena never saw it coming when he decided to flip the script and ordered a DNA test for Callum and little Mateo. He didn't even bother checking his own DNA because he was dead sure that the kid wasn't Callum's. So, it had to be his.
Selena was baffled. Everyone except her closest friends thought she and Callum were a couple. Even Everett had been under that impression for the past three years. That night at the police station, he was so angry because he didn't believe the child was his. So, what tipped him off?noveldrama
She was positive... she hadn't let anything slip...
Without her noticing, Everett had moved in close, his big hand gripping her chin, making her look up at him.
He wore a cold smile. "Selena, do you think I'm an idiot?"
"Or did you really think you and Callum could pull the wool over my eyes?"
"You had the nerve to keep my child from me for three whole years; you should've known there'd be hell to pay once I found out!"
Selena's breath hitched. "The child is mine!"
He had left them to fend for themselves. She'd gone through so much to bring little Mateo into this world and raise him. What right did Everett have to just swoop in and claim him now? "Yours?"
Everett's fingers brushed over her pale lips, almost teasingly. "Can you have a baby all by yourself?"
"If you're so set on having a kid." Selena forced herself to stay calm, closing her eyes for a second. "There are plenty of women who'd be happy to have your child. Why are you fighting me for him?" Whether it was Margot back then or the new women in his life now, he was never short of female company, much less potential children.
But Everett was done with patience.
"Selena, this isn't up for discussion."
She hadn't asked him when she took the child away, after all.
Suddenly, the door swung open, and a tiny figure came bursting in, charging at Everett with little fists flying.
"Don't you dare bully Mom!" the kid shouted, determination on his face.
Everett looked down at the little guy, who barely came up to his knee, and whose punches were more like tickles.
Selena was shocked to see little Mateo awake and running in. She rushed forward to scoop him up.
But Everett was quicker, lifting the boy effortlessly with one hand.
He chuckled, "Quite the brave one."
Just like his dad, Everett thought with a hint of pride.
Little Mateo wriggled in his grasp, clearly uncomfortable.
Selena's heart was in her throat. "Everett, give me my child!"
The issues were theirs, not the child's.
Everett shot her a glance, anger flaring up inside him.
Even fierce beasts didn't harm their own young. What did she think he was?
With the boy in one arm, Everett's lips curled into a slow, deliberate smile. "Since you're stepping out, you won't have time for him. As his dad, it's only right I look aftechim.”
With that, he turned and walked away.
Selena couldn't believe it. It was one thing for him to drag her away last time but now he was taking
right from her home. Conte son
She wasn't having any of it. She grabbed her dress and ran after him.
His strides were long, and she stumbled trying to keep up, but by the time she got outside, he was already in the car with Mateo
She banged on the window.
Through the glass, his face was all cool detachment.
He left her with a single ultimatum.
"Selena, you've got one day to decide. Do you want a divorce, or do you want the kid?"
