Married At First Glance: I Am Not Ugly

Speechless And Surprised

“That’s good. But we have heard stories about how arrogant and annoying he is towards people. How were you able to cope with that?” Mr. Robert asked.

“Um…. you know the saying that no one is perfect and honestly, I am not too. I guess we both understand that we have weaknesses and we both try everyday to overcome our weaknesses.

Like recently, he has changed and he doesn’t talk rudely to his staff and he treats them pretty well.”

Marissa noticed that they must have been informed by someone about Alexander’s attitude and so wanted to ask more about him before they decide to give him the contract.

Mr. Robert looked at Alexander and Marissa and then decided to ask a very tough question and he asked Marissa and not Alexander.

“Marissa, why do you think that your husband is a good fit for this contract?”

Marissa maintained her composed demeanor as she answered,

“Hmmm…. I believe my husband, Alexander, is the perfect fit for this contract for several reasons.

First and foremost, he has a proven track record of excellence in this industry. His expertise and dedication have consistently led to successful outcomes in previous projects.”

They nodded as Marissa spoke.

Alexander on the other hand was impressed. He never thought that Marissa could know so much about business and about him.

Sophie, one of the clients, nodded in agreement and chimed in,

“That’s impressive. It’s clear he’s passionate about his work.”

Marissa continued, “Yes, passion and commitment are just a couple of his many qualities.

He’s not only a skilled professional but also a leader who fosters a positive work environment.

Recently, he’s transformed our workplace, treating our staff with respect and kindness, which, in turn, enhances their productivity and job satisfaction.”

“Hmmm… really? That’s impressive.” Robert said.

“We had heard a lot of stories tha Mr. Alexander wasn’t a very kind person and he always threatens to fire anyone who doesn’t deliver their best in the job.”

Alexander was about to speak when Marissa decided to continue.

“Well, everyone has weaknesses and I believe no one is perfect. Even a white cloth has a little stain, but when you wash the shirt, the stain removes.

So I believe that Mr. Alexander here is like the shirt and he’s working on himself to become a stainless shirt so that everyone around him can be happy.”Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.

Mr. Robert smiled as he was impressed by Marissa’s illustration to explain how an imperfect person can become perfect if given a chance.

“So you believe that if we award Mr. Alexander the contract, he would not only deliver but he would appreciate everyone who works hard and widely to bring out the end result?”

Marissa nodded and spoke.

Marissa explained,

“I’m sure that if you choose Mr. Alexander for the contract, he will do a great job and treat his team well. I’ve seen how he’s working on improving himself, and I think he can create a positive work environment.”

One of the clients, Sophie, chimed in,

“It’s nice to see such a good partnership. Marissa, your trust in Alexander’s leadership is impressive.”

The clients were pleased with Marissa’s straightforward and thoughtful answers. Her presence helped them feel more confident in Alexander’s abilities and consider the contract more seriously.

“You’ve chosen a remarkable partner, Alexander. Her insights and your dedication make a compelling case for this collaboration.” Mr. Robert said.

“Yes sir…. I sure did pick the right partner…” he said as he stared at Marissa. He didn’t know when he held her hand.

Marissa, who was speaking, stopped and looked into his eyes.

She didn’t know what was going on in his mind but it was obvious that he was impressed by how she explained so much with confidence.

She smiled at him and he smiled back, both obviously lost in their world forgetting that they were not alone.

“Alright, Mr. Alexander. We will award you the contract, because your wife here did a really great job in convincing us that you are indeed a different man.

And we admire her confidence.” Mrs. Sophie.

Mr. Robert agreed and chimed in.

“Don’t forget to mention beauty.”

Hahahaha.

Marissa blushed, feeling a bit flustered by the unexpected praise. She nodded in appreciation.

“Thank you so much for your trust,” she said.

Alexander was still holding her hand, and he gave it a gentle squeeze.

“We won’t disappoint you,” he assured them.

The clients seemed satisfied with their decision, and they continued their dinner, discussing further details of the upcoming contract.

After the dinner, Marissa and Alexander left the grand hall feeling a sense of accomplishment. The night had taken an unexpected turn, and it looked like their faux-marital escapade was off to a good start.

While they were in the car, Alexander couldn’t hide it, but he was really impressed by Marissa’s ability to handle things in there.

He had thought she would just be a way of convincing his client that he was married to get the contract, but Marissa surprised him with the way she spoke that she became an asset who helped him secure the contract he had worked for months to secure.

“Marissa, you did a really great job today…. I honestly didn’t believe-” she cut him off.

“Believe that I could pull this off without your help.”

He nodded.

“Well…. you don’t judge a book by it’s cover.” she said.

“Before we came on this trip, I did some reading about your company and your biography of the things you have accomplished in the years as a single business millionaire.

So I just used the information to convince the clients about how good you were and that they could trust their project with you and that you would deliver.”

Alexander staring into her eyes spoke.

“I was so impressed and I’m sure they were more impressed more than they said.

I never thought you could talk like that.”

“Well…. surprise!” she said, as she smiled.

“Thank you, Marissa…. I really am grateful for helping me pull this off.
