Chapter 19
Chapter 19
Derick narrowed his eyes as he wore a cold expression on his face. There was a blend of righteousness and cunningness on his face.
“Your dad spent thousands on that antique, only to bring back a fake Shouldn’t you be asking Mr. Mitchell about it instead of coming here to bother Scarlett?” Derick said.
“Do you think I wanted to? She knew the antique porcelain was a fake with just one glance. Did you know your ex–wife was into antiques? How could you not?” Evan asked.
Steven had sent him to ask Scarlett about it, but he couldn’t get in touch with her. So, he had no choice but to come to Derick for her number. As luck would have it, he ran into her. Derick hadn’t known. His deep eyes flickered with thoughts. Ever since their douce, Scarlett had become someone he barely recognized. Her knowledge of antiques was news to
him too.
His eyes had a mix of colliness and hury, as if they were warning Evan to stay away from Scarlett.
Evan’s heart skipped a beat when he recalled that breathtaking smile. He had always disliked Scarlett, so why did he feel his heart race now? It must have been a momentary infaruation. At least that was how he tried to convince himself
“She’s beautiful, and now that you’re divorced, of course all the men are after her. Besides, aren’t you heads over heels over Eliza? If you’re not, I might just go after her myself.” Evan’s casual tone was infuriating.
Derick glared at him. “Did you find out anything about the heir to the House of Faust?”
Evan’s playful demeanor turned serious as he shook his head. “Nothing yet. Word is the lady who’s been abroad for four years is back to take over the House of Faust. She’s got a grip on all the family assets here in Huloon.
“They say she’s a prodigy. She skipped grades and earned her doctorate by 18, and she’s got multiple PhDs in different fields.
“There are all sorts of stories about her, making her out to be some kind of legend. But I’m curious to see who she really is. I’ve heard she’s cold and rarely meets anyone. Even when she’s back to handle business, not many people get to see her.”
Derick frowned, deep in thought, as if something was slipping through his mind, too quickly to grasp.
Upon seeing Derick going silent, Evan smirked mischievously. “What’s this? After hearing about how amazing she is, are you planning to pursue her too?
After all, none of their group of friends had ever been serious about a woman. Derick had been the exception because he stayed with Scarlett for four years.
Derick looked at Evan coldly. His gaze was dangerous and filled with hints of warnings. “Shut up. And remember, stay away from Scarlett.”
Evan was baffled. Derick didn’t want Scarlett, but he wouldn’t let anybody else get close to her either. What was his deal?
He recalled Derick’s glare and felt a chill down his spine. He had even sensed murderous intent from Derick just now.
“By the way, I saw the news on my way over. They’re saying your company’s secrets were stolen by your ex–wife. Is it true?”
Derick’s eyes turned cold and lonely. He didn’t say anything while his presence radiated coldness.
So, it wasn’t Scarlett after all
Evan felt uneasy at Derick’s silence. He and his bad habit of clamming up at crucial moments were annoying
He pulled out his phone and scrolled through the Latest updates. The news had changed again. It wasn’t scarlett who stole the new product documents, but Melanie from the same department, who had framed her.
The netizens left comments like “How the turntables!”
“Uh… So, let me get this straight. You called your ex–wife over just to humiliate her, and now you’ve realized you were wrong? Derick, being overbearing isn’t scary, but being a Tools,” Evan And.

Evan didn’t need to be told twice. He knew Derick wasn’t someone to be messed with
In the car, Scarlett regained her composure. Something didn’t add up. Melanie was weak–willed, not the type snobbishi, but she would never pull something like this.
with suspicion growing of her, she instructed, “Cin, look into Melanie after you drop me home.”
