Chapter 15
“Ah!”
A scream tore through the night air, echoing through the villa and jolting Ethan Lewis awake. Even the guards outside felt a chill. Within moments, medics in white coats, medical kits in hand, rushed upstairs.
Ethan was the first to burst out of his room so hastily that he didn’t even have time to put on his shoes.
He charged toward the closed door and, without hesitation, forced his way in. But before he could take in the scene, a blur of motion caught his eye. Lola, with a cold expression, clenched a triangular piece of glass in her hand and viciously stabbed it towards him. Ethan’s reflexes kicked in, and he sidestepped just in time.
“Kill them. It’s the only way to survive and escape!” Lola whispered these ominous words. As she saw Ethan evade, her grip tightened on the glass shard, and she lunged at him again.
Ethan swiftly reached out, grasping Lola’s wrist. His expression was a mix of pain and tenderness as he attempted to soothe her. “Layla, it’s me, Ethan, look at me!”
But Lola seemed not to hear, her assaults with the glass becoming more desperate.
A group in white lab coats rushed in. Seeing the situation, some restrained Lola’s body while others hurriedly opened a medical kit, took out a prepared syringe, and swiftly injected it into Lola’s arm. Gradually, Lola quieted down and closed her eyes.
Just as everyone breathed a sigh of relief, Lola’s eyes suddenly snapped open, and she stabbed the glass shard toward the person closest to her.
Ethan grabbed the front end of the glass shard without a moment’s hesitation.
“Layla!”
A woman with her face covered in a black veil quickly approached Lola, speaking softly.
“Layla, don’t be afraid. We’re home now, everything is fine. Layla, you are just tired, very tired. You want to sleep. Just sleep, and you’ll feel better. Rest assured and sleep. Ethan is here. You know he loves you, and so are your loving father and mother. They will all be with you, always…”
‘So tired…
A soft murmur came from Lola’s lips.
Her bloodshot eyes slowly settled into calmness. Then, her body suddenly slumped backward.
Ethan quickly caught Lola as she fell.
The room was heavy with the smell of blood. Lola’s blood splattered everywhere. Broken glass, a smashed vase, clothes stained with blood, and bright red splatter across the plush carpet like stark flowers.
Ethan sat on the floor, cradling Lola’s shaking body. His eyes were cold, filled with a dangerous intensity.
Lola’s gaze was empty, her eyes dim and tear–streaked, her hand gripping the shard of glass.
“Don’t worry, Layla. We’re home…
Heather Cox continued her hypnosis. Gradually, Lola closed her eyes, and her fingers holding the glass shard slowly
relaxed.

Lola’s wounds were not just on her palms but also on her arms, where scars crisscrossed her skin in a startling display. Some were old, others freshly inflicted, and some were recent additions just beginning to heal.
It was only after Lola finally drifted into a deep sleep that Ethan stepped out of the bedroom.
Standing silently by the hallway window, Ethan held a half–smoked cigarette in his bloodied hand, and his gaze fixed coldly outside.
Behind Ethan stood five or six men in white coats, each distinct in skin tone and eye color. Seemingly in a hurry, they had only managed to don their white coats. Some wore one leather shoe and one slipper, while others had only one shoe on.
“It’s been two years. Why haven’t you found a solution yet?”
Ethan turned around, his cold gaze sweeping over each face.
One of the men, with a foreign appearance, stepped forward hesitantly, speaking in broken Lumarian. “Mr. Lewis, considering the current situation, sedatives no longer work on Ms. Lewis. The only thing that can calm Ms. Lewis now is Ms. Cox’s hypnosis.”
Ethan turned again to gaze out the window.
The full moon perched atop the treetops, shining brightly. The silence outside was absolute, not a sound to disturb the stillness.
The door opened, and Heather, who had previously hypnotized Lola, stepped out. She looked up at everyone before turning her gaze to Ethan.
“Don’t rush this, Ethan!”
Ethan lowered his eyes, saying nothing as Heather’s voice rose again.
“The ordeal from two years back hit Ms. Lewis harder than you think. Before, only thunderstorms triggered her episodes, but today… The people and things you exposed her to brought all the past she is unwilling to face right before her eyes, only worsening her breakdown.”
Ethan took a drag of his cigarette, speaking in a stern tone.
“We are running out of time. She needs to come out of this quickly.”
Heather watched Ethan in silence for a moment, then spoke.
“What’s more important to you, Mr. Lewis? The battle for the family head position next year, or Ms. Lewis‘ health? Ms. Lewis can’t take any more stress. If this continues, there are only two possibilities. She’ll either self–destruct or fall into a deep slumber, never to awaken.”
After speaking. Heather turned and walked away. However, just as she neared the end of the hallway, Ethan’s voice, icy and authoritative, cut through the air.
“Heather, Dominick must die.”
Heather paused for a moment, then stepped into the room without a word.
Overnight, Talondria was abuzz with speculation about who “Ms. Lewis” was.
The next morning, a topic trended on social media, detailing the love story between Dominick and Jessica over the

event, the media captured Lola with a foreign man, hinting he might be the financial backer behind Lola.
Furthermore, some media claimed that Lola’s disappearance from Talondria two years ago was due to eloping with someone. Suddenly, Lola became the target of slanderous terms like “homewrecker” and “mistress, Within an hour, the story had spread like wildfire, shared over a million times. Nearly everyone was casting her as dishonorable. shameless, and vile.
“Mr. Sinclair.”
Henry pushed open the door and glanced at the man standing on the balcony watering plants, speaking in a stern
voice.
“There’s very little information available about Mrs. Sinclair. All we know is that she’s currently residing in Royal Haven. As for the man with her, there’s no information at all. No one knows where they came from. The mansion is not only guarded by security patrols around the clock but also employs the most advanced defense systems.”
“No leads?”
Dominick gave Henry a cold look.
Henry nodded.
Dominick raised his gaze and looked towards the courtyard, his mood soured thinking about the scene he had witnessed last night.
