Love or Leave Behind Chapter 8
Isabelle was shocked. “You’re really pregnant? That’s some serious bad luck.”
Shelmaine’s voice trembled as she said, “I just took a pregnancy test. It’s positive.”
“Pregnancy tests can be wrong. Why don’t we go to the hospital tomorrow to make sure?” Isabelle suggested.
“..I’m not sure.” Shelmaine suddenly felt her confidence wavering. “My mind is all over the place right now.”
“Where are you? I’ll come to y
o you.”
“No need. I’m fine” Shelmine wanted some time alone. Her thoughts and emotions were in turmoil
“Shelly, are you really okay?” Isabelle asked, still worried. “I’ll go with you to the hospital tomorrow.”
“It’s alright Ican go by myself,”
Unable to persuade her, Isabelle insisted that Shemaine contact her immediately if anything happened.
After the call, Shelmaine received a WhatsApp message from Samuel
“I can’t find a document. It might be at your place. Check for me.‘
What document was he talking about?
Shelmaine didn’t understand. She had packed everything and returned it to him, hadn’t she?
Shelmaine texted back, “Nothing was left behind. I had everything moved by the driver.”
A few moments after sending the message, Samuel called again
Shelmaine frowned before reluctantly answering it
“Why didn’t you pick up my call earlier?” Samuel’s demanding voice came through before Shelmaine could even say anything
She hesitated. “I don’t have any of your documents.”
“Is that so?”
“You can ask Brody”
Then, Samuel asked, “What’s wrong with your voice?
“Nothing” Shelmaine had no intention of telling Samuel about this. He didn’t like children, and now that they were divorced, even if she was pregnant, it was her responsibility to bear. It had nothing to do with him even if he was the biological father.
Samuel clearly didn’t believe her. His tone med cold as he said, “We’ve only been divorced for a short time, and you’ve already moved on?
Samuel thought that she was out on a date with another man…
Shelmaine smirked slightly. “Even if I were moving on, we’ve already divorced. It’s perfectly reasonable. I’m not like you.”
Her words seemingly managed to silence Samuel
Then, Shelmaine added, “I’m already divorced from you, so take care of your own affairs.”
At this moment, Shelmine didn’t want to back down. If it hadn’t been for Natasha, she wouldn’t be in such a mess.
“What do you mean by that?” Samuel asked
“Don’t play dumb, okay?” Shelmaine felt sick now. Her chest was tightening, and her nausea was rising. “Samuel, don’t take me for a fool I fell for your tricks once, but I won’t fall for them again.”
With that, she decisively hung up the phone and blocked Samuel’s number on WhatsApp. She then absentmindedly placed a hand on her abdomen and murmured to herself, Your biological father is a jerk. We don’t need him.”
The next morning, Shelmaine turned her phone off and went to the hospital for a check–up. She was anxious on the way there, but she knew she had to face the truth.
When the doctor reviewed the results, he said, “You’re pregnant. Five weeks along”
Shelmaine clenched her fingers. Her mouth opened slightly, but no sound came out.
She was experiencing a chaotic swirl of emotions.
When Shelmaine finally let the doctor’s office, her complexion was even worse than when she had arrived.
Samuel found out about the pregnancy, given his stance on not wanting children, he definitely wouldn’t want to keep the baby.
Bot Shelmaine had no intention of telling him anyway.
An hour later, she returned to the studio.
Shortly after arriving, Dora came to her with some troubling newsContent is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
