Chapter 7
Lyle frowned slightly. This kid always has a clear schedule and plan, and rarely follows his emotions, so why did he make such a sudden decision now?
After thinking for a few seconds, Lyle turned to Stephen, who was blinking and examining him.
“Later, send me promotional photos of the Eternal Love jewelry set.”This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.
After finishing speaking, he quickly walked back to the office, leaving Stephen standing there with a confused face.
Stephen thought they were going out together. But it seems that’s not the case.
At precisely three o’clock in the afternoon, Ella took Dylan and Paul to visit the project.
Their car drove through several roads before arriving. It is a fairly large and flat area of land, with the back facing the mountain and the front facing the sea.
“What is that place?” Dylan pointed to the end of the land and asked.
“It’s an orphanage.” Ella replied softly.
After speaking, she took them there. When the children saw a guest coming in, they all stood up to say hello. An elderly nun came forward and greeted Ella in a low voice.
“Hello Miss Ella.”
“Yes, hello, this is Mr. Dylan and Mr. Paul. Today I brought them to visit this land.”
“Hello, you two.”
Paul and Dylan both bowed slightly and turned to look at the children who were attentively pasting colorful shells to create countless souvenirs.
A little girl ran to give Dylan a peacock made from a snail shell.
“For you, uncle.”
“Why did you suddenly give it to me?” Dylan took it and asked.
“Because you let us stay here. You don’t force us to move away.”
Dylan turned to look at Ella as if asking a question, so she offered to take him to see all the areas in the orphanage.
Paul was fascinated by the colorful snail shells. He swooped down and glued them into the shape of a rooster. He was so infatuated that he didn’t care about his boss anymore.
Going through all the rooms, Dylan saw inside there were children with congenital disabilities lying in cribs and beds, their innocent eyes looking toward the door.
“There were many people interested in this project, but they all wanted the orphanage to move to another place, so I did not agree.” Ella slowly said.
“So why did you propose a transfer to me? From the perspective of an investor, I would be just like them.”
“But as a human being, you wouldn’t do that.”
“Reason?”
“Mr. Dylan is a good person, I know very well what you do. During these years, you have always been quietly involved in volunteer work. I hope you agree to take on this project but don’t force them to leave.”
Dylan looked at the peacock in his hand and then at the little girl’s face. That little girl reminds him of Nancy. The image of a little girl with chubby cheeks and slightly sad eyes filled his mind.
He wondered if Ella was in his stomach. She knew he couldn’t bear to chase these orphaned children away.
As soon as they got out to where the children were gathered, Paul finished making the cock. He smiled happily and seemed very satisfied.
“I will think about it and answer you later.” Dylan held out his hand.
“Thank you for taking the time to come down here.” Ella shook his hand and nodded slightly.
When Dylan returned to the city, it was already past eight o’clock in the evening. As soon as he entered the house, he saw Rosalind and his mother sitting and chatting. He looked at them with an expressionless face.
“Why did you come here?”
“What do you ask? She came to visit me.”
“Mom, are you not feeling well?” Dylan turned to Camila and squinted his eyes.
“It’s been a long time since I’ve seen your mother, so I came here…” Rosalind noticed that the atmosphere was not good so she immediately stood up to explain.
“You’re a big star now, it wouldn’t be nice for reporters to see you coming to my house.”
After saying that, Dylan quickly went up the stairs. Rosalind blankly watched his figure. She wondered if this man had a heart after all. How could he be so heartless?
But the colder he was, the more she wanted him.
“Don’t be sad, maybe during the surgery he received too much blood from strangers so his personality changed. Sometimes I wonder if he is still Nathan.” Camila’s face looks a little sad.
“It’s okay, I’ll come again another day, goodbye.”
Rosalind quickly walked to the car and sat in, resting her head on the steering wheel and crying for a while.
Then, she raised her eyes and looked up to the upper floor, where the window was still bright with electric light.
She felt so pitiful because she was always busy chasing after him but never received a response from him.
Rosalind met him in graduate school. Nathan seven years ago was a warm, gentle guy who always cared about helping people. She loved him for that reason, and finally, her heart skipped a beat.
Until one evening, after the year-end party, she secretly followed him home and saw him passionately hugging and kissing a girl under the ginkgo tree. At that moment, her heart felt like it was broken.
The next morning, just after seven o’clock, on Dylan’s orders, Paul appeared in front of the editing room to observe the staff.
He glanced sideways and vertically for a long time but didn’t see Nancy anywhere.
As soon as Mina arrived, seeing his appearance, she immediately suspected he had bad intentions.
“What are you doing here?”
“Mina, you made me almost faint.” Paul said while holding his chest.
“I’m asking you. Oh, or the president’s assistant wants to be the son-in-law of the editorial department, right?” Mina smiled and winked.
“Don’t talk nonsense. Ah, why doesn’t Miss Nancy go to work today?”
“She asked for leave. Today is Friday, so Mr. Lyle allows her to take the rest of the week off. Oh, you smell so fast. She’s only been here a few days.”
