Chapter 36
“That person is our president, right?” Daria suddenly spoke up.
Following Daria’s eyes, Stephen realized that the man was indeed Dylan, and next to him was Nancy.
When Daria saw Stephen’s face suddenly change color, his hands clenched and pressed down on the table, she became extremely worried.
“Stephen, what’s wrong with you?”
“Nothing, eat quickly and go home.” Stephen replied faintly.
“Do we need to say hello?”
“No need.”
Because Stephen expressed his discomfort, Daria stopped talking, she tried to eat quickly and followed him to the car.
The whole way home, Stephen’s face looked like he was at a funeral, his usual sense of humor had disappeared.
He remembered what Dylan said two days ago. It turned out that his close friend knew that he was interested in Nancy but still deliberately tried to get in the way.
Stephen felt uncomfortable because he didn’t know when the two of them knew each other. Maybe it was when they met at the company canteen, or maybe before that because Nancy’s attitude that day was very strange.
When Stephen took Daria home, Dylan and Nancy leisurely stood up to pay.
Dylan carefully opened the car door, covered Nancy’s head so she could sit in, then ran to the driver’s seat and turned the car around.
When they arrived, Dylan quickly got out of the car and opened the car door for Nancy to get out. She looked at him tiredly for a long time then spoke seriously.
“President, this is the last time I accept an invitation to eat with you. So, please don’t come here anymore.”
“You have the right to refuse, but I will still come. Nancy, is your heart not moved by me?” Dylan resolutely his stance. His deep voice also carried a bit of sadness.
“Does that matter?” Nancy asked coldly.
“Very important.” He nodded, his eyes looking forward to an answer.
“I am not moved. Now I just want to focus on work. You can come but don’t call and bother me anymore. Now, please go home.”
After finishing speaking, Nancy quickly went back into the house, locked the door, went upstairs, and closed all the curtains.
Dylan stood there and looked up. This girl knows how to make others disappointed.
Yesterday, looking at her confused appearance, he thought she was starting to have feelings for him. Now it’s good, she broke off the relationship with him with just one word.
Looking up at the door frame that was covered with curtains, he sighed softly.
“Nancy, is your heart made of stone? If you want to focus on work then I will use work to approach you.”
At eight o’clock in the morning, the editorial department’s quick meeting ended and everyone shuffled back to work.
Lyle went to Nancy’s desk and reviewed the year-end event planning script.Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
After asking her to adjust some content, he seemed satisfied. Mina also stood silently next to him, waiting for him to attend the meeting with the partner company.
“Editor Nancy, the president wants to see you.” Paul suddenly appeared and spoke loudly.
As soon as he finished speaking, three people with six eyes, not to mention a dozen other eyes, stared at him at the same time, making him confused and feeling like he was passing on a decree.
“Why does the president want to meet me?” Nancy asked worriedly.
“Ah, the president wants you to come up with an idea for the group’s first trip of the year.” Paul answered honestly.
“Dear Deputy General Director, does the editor also have to do this?” Nancy turned to her boss to ask for help.
“Usually, that’s the job of the company’s union.” Lyle was also so surprised that he was bewildered.
“In short, please come to the president’s office.” Paul leaned over, extending his hand to invite her in the style of a nobleman.
Nancy’s face was distorted, other employees also sympathized with her because they heard that the president was an extremely difficult, perfectionist old man.
Furthermore, they also heard that he had a long-term illness that he hid, and was so ugly that even if he had a mountain of money, he still couldn’t get a wife, and he’s been single until now.
Even though Mina knew, she still had to pretend not to know and pretend to be dumbfounded.
Mina felt that Nancy was forced by the chairman because it didn’t look like she was willing at all.
She felt that her thoughts were correct because Dylan was too violent. Although Lyle said that Nancy had fallen that day, Mina didn’t believe it, and the fact that high heels were in one place but Nancy was in another the day before made her even more suspicious.
Arriving in front of the president’s office, Nancy tried to regain her composure, took a deep breath, then opened the door and walked in, bowing low.
“Hello, president.”
“Please ask Stephen to speed up the process of appraising Sunny House’s new design for me.” Dylan said and gave the documents to Daria.
“Yes, goodbye.” Daria politely took it and quickly left.
When the girl’s footsteps disappeared behind the door, Nancy felt a chill run down her spine.
She looked up and saw the desk was empty. She blinked a few times and suddenly felt the breath on her neck and the whisper in her ear.
“I’m here.”
“President, please give me the job.” Nancy was startled and quickly turned around to avoid him.
“What’s up? Yesterday you boldly chased me away but today you’re timid.”
“This is the away stadium, yesterday was the home stadium.” She muttered.
Dylan’s ears were sharp enough to hear her words. He almost burst out laughing, but luckily he could hold it back.
After adjusting his face to be serious like the image of a big boss preparing to assign work, he gave Nancy a piece of paper, on which were many requests for the trip.
Nancy looked at the paper and was dizzy. She had to choose a location with the requirement of having a hot spring, then she had to choose accommodation, breakfast, lunch, afternoon, dinner, transportation, group games, and night parties…
The more she read, the more her headache became. What does this have to do with the editorial staff?
She secretly thought that the president was using the company’s work to take revenge on her. He didn’t have her love so he tried to torment her.
She feels that people who have power are hateful. She told herself to do well, making him open his eyes.
“Don’t worry, President, I will try.”
Nancy calmly accepted the job, bowed, and left quickly.
Seeing her like that, Dylan became even more depressed. As long as she says that this job is too difficult, she can’t do it herself and begs him a little, he can happily let the company’s union handle it.
Looking at that indomitable and brave appearance, not afraid of difficulties, determined to win, made him extremely uncomfortable.
