Chapter 918: Uncle, Don’t Be Afraid, Fight Back
The group returned to the wedding hall, where the ceremony was nearing its conclusion.
Tina, curious and restless, wandered over to the table where champagne was being served. She picked up a glass, determined to take just a tiny sip. She didn't believe that such a small amount could cause her to get drunk. Tall pyramids of champagne glasses were arranged in at least ten layers. Suddenly, one of the structures collapsed, sending the champagne tumbling toward Tina.
Just as she was about to leap out of the way, a pair of cool hands gently wrapped around her, pulling her to safety.
The flood of champagne cascaded behind her, the sound of the glasses shattering filling the air, and the sweet aroma of champagne wafting all around.
Tina glanced up and noticed the man who had rescued her. His hands had already withdrawn the moment she was safe. He stepped back, his amber eyes shimmering with a soft glow. A warm smile tugged at his lips as he nodded politely to her before quickly disappearing without saying a word.
Tina blinked, her thoughts lingering on the man. He was as strikingly handsome as Uncle Jared, and she found herself staring at his retreating figure in silent contemplation.
Just then, a pair of strong arms encircled her waist, lifting her effortlessly. Tina didn't cry out in surprise. Instead, her bright eyes sparkled with mischief as she looked at Jared. His sharp jawline was tense, his entire demeanor radiating a cool and distant energy.
He carried her outside the wedding hall to a spot where a swing was set up. Gently, he placed her down on the swing.
The breeze lifted Tina's curls, her delicate features glowing with a radiant smile.
Her voice was soft yet playful as she teased, "I wasn't staring at him on purpose. He saved me-I had no choice but to look at him."
Jared's eyes remained calm, his voice cold. "But after he left, you still kept staring at his back."
Tina blinked, her long lashes fluttering like butterfly wings. She hadn't thought of a good explanation yet when Jared's large, calloused hand cupped her face. Without warning, he kissed her fiercely, his passion overwhelming and dominant. His tongue delved into hers, claiming her completely.
Tina's body heated up quickly, and she refused to back down. Wrapping her arms around Jared's neck, she deepened the kiss until both of them were breathless. Only then did they reluctantly pull away.
Jared shook his head with a helpless smile. He could never win against his Tina.
Her eyes sparkled even brighter as she teased, "Why don't we head back to the villa now?"
Jared's ears reddened slightly. He had been the one jealous moments ago, yet somehow, he was the one blushing now. He buried his face in the curve of her neck, his lips brushing against her smooth, fair skin as he murmured in a husky voice, "Tina, the wedding isn't over yet."
Tina played with his hair, her tone nonchalant. "It doesn't matter! All the important parts are done. It'll be over soon anyway."
Jared chuckled softly, his warm breath tickling her neck. "Tina, are you that eager?"noveldrama
She coughed lightly, feigning modesty. "Not at all..."
Before she could finish, Jared picked her up and placed her in his car, carefully buckling her seatbelt. "If your father blames me for leaving early, Tina, you'll have to speak up for me."
Tina ruffled his hair with a grin. "Uncle, don't be so timid. Don't be afraid of my dad. Fight back!"
Jared started the car, the island breeze sweeping through and calming their restless hearts.
"If I fight back against your father, how will I ever marry you, silly Tina?" Jared's voice was warm and laced with amusement.
Tina thought for a moment. "Then how about I tie him up and drag him to the wedding? It'd work just fine!"
"My mom would probably help bring him over for my happiness too," she added with a laugh.
Jared's smile deepened, his expression relaxed and content. "That's my wife, always full of surprises."
As the car sped along, Tina admired the island scenery. Suddenly, Jared's phone rang. He answered it with a calm demeanor, setting it to speaker mode.
"Mr. Farrell," a voice reported, "we've thoroughly investigated all the routes that car might have taken. We found suspicious activity on the road leading to the East District. Additionally, someone deliberately tampered with the records of the deceased woman's past."
Jared responded with a simple, "Got it. Keep digging. Find out everything about her life before her death and report back to me."
As he ended the call, Tina's phone rang. She picked it up, and Jayden's voice came through.
"Young Mistress, our people have been investigating. It's confirmed that women have gone missing in the area, and none of them have been found. Their families still believe their daughters are alive, unaware that they might already be dead." Tina's brows furrowed, her expression darkening. "Keep looking. Find out where the bodies are and gather detailed records of every victim, including their physical data."
After hanging up, Tina sighed softly. "Looks like we won't be able to enjoy tonight together, Uncle. Let's head to that suspicious site in the East District."
Jared smiled faintly, his fingers brushing under Tina's chin. "I'll make it up to you tonight. Don't plan on going home."
The car shifted direction, heading toward the East District.
As they approached, the surroundings grew increasingly desolate. The wind picked up dust and sand, swirling it across the empty roads.
In the distance, a small village came into view. It was eerily quiet, with no sign of life, even in broad daylight. Jared parked the car and pulled out two sleek, compact pistols that gleamed under the sunlight.
Tina raised an eyebrow. "I didn't expect you to come so prepared. Looks like this village isn't as simple as it seems." Jared's gaze was sharp, his tone heavy. "I sent several men to scout this village, but none of them came back."
"I was planning to come alone, but since the intel arrived today, I guess it was fate that brought us here. Stay safe."
Tina smirked confidently. Her voice carried a commanding edge. "There's no one in this world who can beat me. If anyone needs to worry, it's them!"
The two stepped out of the car, pistols secured at their waists, and cautiously made their way toward the village.
As soon as they entered, Tina sensed they were being watched. Snipers were stationed in every house along the road. This had to be the place where the bodies were hidden.
No wonder Jared's men hadn't returned. The moment they entered this monitored zone, the snipers must have taken them out with precision.
Jared noticed the danger as well, but retreating now would only increase their chances of being shot. They had no choice but to move forward step by step.
Walking slightly behind Jared, Tina suddenly looped her finger around his pinky, pretending to pout. "We've been walking forever. I'm tired and thirsty."
Jared scanned the area. "It's my fault for bringing you to Ashbury and messing up the navigation. I thought there'd be people selling water here."
"How about we knock on one of the houses and ask?" Tina suggested, her tone light. But her meaning was clear-they could use the house as cover and eliminate any enemies inside.
What do you think?
