Living With My Lady Boss

Chapter 10

Faye nodded. “It’s pretty bad.”

“I see. Just do what you need to do and get it done,” Wilbur said calmly.

Faye nodded hurriedly. “I’ll be going, then. Bye, Boss.”

After saying goodbye, Faye practically bolted out of the door. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

Wilbur chuckled to himself and made himself a quick breakfast before taking a walk in the neighborhood park.

He found an empty spot and stretched a little before launching into a few martial arts moves.

It turned out to be more than ten moves.

Every move stretched the human body to its physical limits, to unbelievable points.

The moves were strung together to form a strange cultivation method, one that was endless and ever- changing.

Half an hour later, Wilbur was drenched in sweat, yet he felt impossibly light and free. His body felt refreshed.

Sweaty and satisfied, he got ready to head home for a shower before resuming his meditation.

Just as he exited the park, he bumped into two people carrying gifts.

The two people saw him as well and approached him at once.

“My goodness. I know you’ve left the Willows, but are you sleeping in the park now?” Yvonne asked her expression one of disdain.

Next to her, Blake’s expression was smug as well as he shook his head bitterly. “I know you’re not doing well, but you can’t be begging out here. You’re pretty smart, though, picking a wealthy neighborhood to do your begging. I guess you’re not completely brainless.”

Wilbur chuckled. “You’ve got quite the imagination, haven’t you.”

“Are we wrong?” Yvonne scoffed. “What can a useless freeloader like you do aside from begging?”

“Don’t worry. I won’t tell the security to kick you out. However, I’d advise you to get a job soon, or you’d truly be useless living like this,” Blake said.

Wilbur glanced at the two of them. “You seem pretty free for people with a wedding coming up.”

“Of course we’re busy!” Yvonne glared at Wilbur. “A few of my friends with high social status live here. We’re here to send them wedding invitations.”

“Well, I won’t be in your way, then. Please go on.” Wilbur left after that.

However, Blake shouted after him. “Remember to come to the wedding! You were once with Yvonne, so you should be there to see her happy.”

“I will.” Wilbur left without even turning his head.

Right then, Susie and her grandfather, along with their bodyguard, were nearby. Susie saw the entire scene.

She said to the bodyguard, “Bring Grandpa to go work out. I’ll be there in a second.”

The bodyguard nodded, then helped Benjamin into the park. Susie, on the other hand, sped up her footsteps and caught up to Blake and Yvonne.

“Excuse me, do you two know that man?” Susie asked.

The pair turned to look at Susie. They knew that anyone who lived in this neighborhood would be extremely rich and did not dare to treat her with any disrespect.

Yvonne answered quickly, “Yes, we know him. Is something the matter?”

“My name’s Susie Grayson. I’d like to know what that man does for a living. Can you tell me?” Susie asked.

Yvonne paused for a moment before saying, “He’s my ex-husband. He freeloaded off my family for three years without doing a thing. We just got divorced.”

“You should be careful of him now that he’s in the area. He can’t be up to any good. A broke person would do anything,” Blake chimed in painstakingly.

Susie nodded slowly. “Thanks. I understand now.”

After the conversation, she turned and headed into the park.

Sure enough, she was right. That man was indeed trying to get close to the Grayson family. How could someone like him be capable?

She was going to expose his true colors once her father was home, so her grandfather would not fall for that guy’s schemes anymore.

Wilbur, on the other hand, got home and took a shower before beginning to meditate.

Around evening, the doorbell rang.

Wilbur got up to answer the door and saw Benjamin holding a bottle of wine.

“Mister Grayson! Please, come in,” Wilbur greeted Benjamin, welcoming him inside

Benjamin placed the wine on the table, and Wilbur brewed a cup of tea for him.

Benjamin exclaimed, “It really is a miracle. Ever since you induced that wave of energy into me and I used your cultivation methods, I feel like I’ve been reborn. Looks like I’ll have a few more years to live.”

“Haha! You’ve lived a glorious life already. You should spend the rest of your time enjoying yourself.”

As the two were chatting, Faye came home from work. She saw that there was a guest and hurried to greet him.

Benjamin returned a greeting politely. Wilbur then said, “Could you whip up something? I think Mister Grayson would like to have a drink.”

Faye nodded, then went to the kitchen in her office clothes.

A while later, she emerged with four dishes in tow. They were simple dishes but smelled and tasted amazing.

Faye set the table along with a few wine glasses and served the two of them a meal.

Benjamin and Wilbur chatted, drinking away happily.

From the way Benjamin kept on clinking his glass with Wilbur, it was clear that he had not drunk in a long time.

Wilbur reciprocated as well. Despite Benjamin’s body not having fully recovered yet, he now had Wilbur’s cultivation method, so drinking a little would hardly affect him.

While drinking, Wilbur took out his pack of cigarettes and glanced at Benjamin.

Benjamin practically lit up at once, causing Wilbur to chuckle. “Would you like one?”

“I’d like one,” Benjamin beamed.

Wilbur handed him a cigarette and lit it for him. Benjamin took a few deep puffs, then exhaled a mouthful of thick smoke a few seconds later.

“That’s what life is about,” Benjamin said, lost in bliss.

Wilbur chuckled. “You shouldn’t smoke that much, though.”

“What’s living to ten thousand years old if your life’s meaningless?” Benjamin mused deeply.

Wilbur merely nodded, not saying anything.

Just then, the doorbell rang. Faye got up to open the door, and Susie barged in in a fit of rage.

“I knew you’d be here, Grandpa. You’re smoking and drinking too?” Susie stared at the cigarettes and wine on the table in shock.

Benjamin frowned. “What are you shouting about? You’re in someone else’s home. Where are your manners?

Susie cried out, “He’s scamming you, Grandpa! Look, he’s even making you smoke now! Don’t you know how your own body is doing?”

Benjamin growled angrily, “I know it very well. I know what’s happening to my body better than anyone else.”

Susie asked, “Then why are you smoking and drinking? What did the doctors say?”

Benjamin shook his head and glanced at Wilbur. “I don’t think we can keep drinking anymore. I’m getting really pissed off.”

After saying that, he got up and left alone, completely ignoring Susie.

Susie glowered at Wilbur. “You’re a liar and a cheat! How can you let an old, sick man smoke and drink just to get what you want? You’re really evil!”

Wilbur lit a cigarette and tuned her out.

Seeing Wilbur’s response, Susie turned to Faye instead. “What’s your relationship with him?”

“Who are you, and do I need to tell you?” Faye asked at once, getting straight to the point.

Susie spat coldly, “I don’t care what you are to him, but stay away from my Grandpa. Oh, and I’m sure you’re someone with power as well. This man’s a scammer, and I hope you don’t fall for his tricks and end up bankrupt.”

After making her statement, Susie left in a hurry to go after her grandfather.

Faye did not know what to say. What a rude lady!

“Boss, who was that? What’s the matter with her?” Faye asked.

Wilbur said calmly, “That old man is Benjamin Grayson. The girl is his granddaughter, Susie Grayson.”
