Chapter 672 Are You Going to Hit Me Again?
Xavia put on a gentle smile and said, "Don't overthink it. No mother in the world would not love her child. I just want your daddy to pay more attention to me so that our relationship will improve. Don't you want your parents to have a better relationship?"
Jasper tilted his head and replied coldly, "What your relationship is your business. If it's not working out, then get a divorce. Being with someone you don't love is like being trapped in hell."
This was something his school teacher had said. Several students in his class had parents who were divorced, and the teacher had tried to console them with these words. He found it quite reasonable. He did not like Xavia anyway, so her relationship with his father was of little concern to him.
Xavia froze for a moment, thinking that Jasper was implying that Joseph did not love her. Unable to control her emotions, she grabbed Jasper and threw him to the floor. "I went through so much pain giving birth to you and I've endured countless hardships. It’s fine if you don’t want to support me, but how dare you mock me!"
Sitting on the floor, Jasper endured the pain and clenched his fists. He looked at her coldly and asked, "Are you going to hit me again?"
"Disrespectful children need to be taught a lesson," Xavia declared, raising her hand high in the air. But before she could land a blow, a knocking on the door interrupted the tense moment and a nurse came in.
Xavia hastily lowered her hand and said to the nurse gently, "We're here to visit Mr. Harold."
The nurse did not notice what Xavia was doing as she was focused on Jasper. "Oh dear, why are you sitting on the floor? It's cold. Come on now. On your feet."
Xavia forced a smile. "He was being naughty."
Jasper had grown accustomed to Xavia’s deceitful behavior. He dusted himself off, grabbed his bag, and swiftly fled the scene. Xavia hurriedly chased after him. The nurse wanted to update them on Harold's condition, but they had left before she had the chance. She sighed and decided to wait for Joseph's next visit to talk to him about it. With the boundless energy of a child and an intellect beyond his peers, Jasper outpaced Xavia who sported high heels. Once out of the hospital, he flagged down a cab and headed to Fairlight. Everyone at the office knew him, and when Lucas received the call from the front desk, he put aside his work and went to bring him up.
"Is my dad here?" Jasper asked.
"Mr. Joseph is in a meeting right now. You can wait for him in his office."
Jasper shook his head. "I have something very important to tell him, so I need to see him now."
Lucas froze. "Did you have a fight with your mom?"
"It's not about that."
"Did you get a scolding from your teacher?"
"No."
"Did you fail your exams?"
Rolling his eyes, Jasper retorted, "Hello? It’s the weekend right now.”
Moreover, he always placed first in the class, so how could Lucas doubt his abilities?
"Oh yeah, it is. It slipped my mind." Lucas sighed dejectedly. He had been so busy lately that he had not realized it was the weekend.
Caring little for the troubles of an adult, Jasper ignored Lucas’ words and instead whispered, "I met the woman whom my dad was in a relationship with earlier today. If Daddy wants to know the details, tell him to end the meeting and come to talk to me now."
Lucas was shocked. His mouth hung agape. "You mean Chloe?"
