Chapter 78: Critically Ill
Chapter 78: Critically Ill
Quincy drove the Audi at 120 mph on the streets under the night sky of JM City.
He kept overtaking!
The car sped up.
One vehicle!
Another one!
Some of the drivers beside Quincy were frightened, and some were stunned. Most of the others
pointed at Quincy's taillights and scolded him for driving at a breakneck speed!
Quincy ignored the red light. At an intersection, a man riding an electric bicycle turned into a green belt
to avoid Quincy. He was pricked by the Sabina vulgaris. When he wanted to stop Quincy, Quincy had
been a hundred meters away.
Along the way, Quincy drove at top speed. He arrived at the People's Hospital in 20 minutes even
though it was a 40-minute drive.
"Sir, how many red lights have you run? My driving license will be revoked."
The driver said pitifully to Quincy. When Quincy drove the car at top speed, the driver's heart had been
in his mouth. At that time, he regretted allowing Quincy to drive his car for 10,000. This was not a
matter of money, but a matter of life. When the driver thought about it, he was afraid.
Quincy ignored the driver. He immediately got off the car and opened the back door to help Jane out.
"Don't worry. Your driving license will be fine." Since Quincy drove his car, Quincy wouldn't let him
suffer a loss. He would solve the driver's problem. After that, Quincy supported Jane and quickly
walked into the hospital.
When Quincy arrived at the ICU, Fred had been waiting outside the ward. When he saw Quincy, he
immediately walked over.
"Mr. Quincy, Miss Jane." Fred would not address Quincy as "young master" when there were outsiders.
"How's the situation?" Quincy asked with a frown. Jane had reed herself from his arms and rushed to
the door of the ICU. She looked inside worriedly through the glass window.
In the ward, several doctors dressed in white coats surrounded Hannah on the bed. They looked at the
numbers on the instruments beside them from time to time, and a few auxiliary nurses wiped their
sweat....
"Lady, don't look around!" The director of the People's Hospital walked over from the side. Noticing
Jane was looking inside, he immediately said.
The patient in the ICU was sent by Fred. The director did not dare to trifle with her at all. As soon as
Fred came, the director immediately arranged for the ICU without going through any procedures. He
asked the most capable doctor in the hospital to come over from home to treat the patient.
"The one in the ward is Miss Jane's mother." Fred frowned and said to the director.
Telling from Fred's expression, the director was surprised to know that Jane was someone Fred valued
a lot.
"Sorry for offending you." The director hurriedly apologized to Jane. Jane paid no heed to anything.
She only had her mother in her mind.
Fred said he didn't know the specific situation of Hannah. Quincy walked up to Jane. Hugging Jane's
shoulder, he looked at the ward with her. Jane did not say anything, but Quincy could feel her body
trembling slightly.
More than an hour later, doctors finished their treatment and walked out of the ICU.
"Dr. Morse, how is my mother? How is my mother?" Jane pulled the attending doctor, Morse Farley,
and asked anxiously.
Morse deliberately glanced at Fred. After receiving Fred's permissive gaze, he truthfully explained
Hannah's condition to Jane.
"The patient's condition is complicated. Right now, we have only temporarily stabilized her condition.
We still need to consult with our colleagues to conclude what exactly the situation is...."
Hearing Morse's explanation, Jane was stunned, feeling limp. If Quincy hadn't hugged her, she would
have fallen to the ground. All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
Quincy frowned and comforted Jane, "Don't be afraid. The doctor said that your mom was out of
danger now. Trust me. She will definitely be fine...."
"I want to see her." Jane refused to hear anything. She was extremely insecure and was about to
charge into the ICU.
The doctor stopped Jane and said, "Miss, please calm down. The patient is very weak right now. Her
body is full of professional equipment and she needs to rest. We have anesthetized the patient. Even if
you go in, you can't do anything...."
Quincy frowned and advised, "Listen to the doctor. If you go in, it may be bad for your mom's health
condition...." Seeing Jane behave like this, Quincy was extremely worried about her. "The nurses in the
ward will take care of Hannah. Don't worry, she will be fine..."
Under Quincy's gentle persuasion, Jane no longer insisted on going to the ward to see Hannah, but
she still rested on the glass of the ward and watched.
Quincy looked at Fred and said, "Find all the famous doctors in JM City and Shanghai immediately. If
they can't cure Hannah, they will be fired!"
"Yes, I'll do it right now." Fred said in horror. He had never seen Quincy so anxious. After that, he went
to arrange it.
The director and doctors at the side were all surprised. Quincy, who looked like an ordinary student,
shouted at Fred. Moreover, Fred was so obedient, which shocked them a lot.
Jane rest quietly on the glass window for more than three hours. Quincy kept her company for such a
long time. Fred told Quincy that doctors from famous hospitals in East China were rushing here. The
First Hospital had urgently convened a consultation to discuss Hannah's illness nervously.
"Take a rest." Quincy supported Jane's shoulders and slowly sat on the chairs on both sides of the
corridor. Jane was bending, resting her elbows against her legs. Her hands were on his forehead. She
was still deeply worried about her mother's illness.
"She will be fine. Believe me...." Quincy patted Jane's back gently. Seeing Jane so uncomfortable,
Quincy felt even more uncomfortable than her.
"What's going on?" A scream came from the ICU, and a nurse quickly rushed out.
Jane was shocked. She hurriedly stood up and ran to the door of the ICU. She saw that the nurses
were bustling in the ward. Hannah had woken up. Her chest rose and fell, and a red light was flashing
on an instrument around her.
"Mom...." Jane was so anxious that she loudly knocked on the door of ICU, wanting to rush in.
The nurse inside quickly walked over and opened the door. Jane was about to rush in when the nurse
blocked her.
The nurse said anxiously, "Miss, please calm down. Only doctors can come in. You won't be of any
help if you do. The patient is in danger. We have called for doctors. Please cooperate with us."
Quincy held Jane in his arms and didn't let her go inside. "Jane, calm down. You won't be able to help
us if you go in. We should believe doctors. Things will be fine...."
"Let go of me. I want to see my mom." Jane tried her best to get rid of Quincy's hands. She was
completely irrational.
Several attending doctors ran over. Quincy held Jane, who was struggling, and moved away from the
door to let them quickly enter.
Quincy comforted Jane loudly, "Believe me. Seeing Hannah become like this, I feel as uncomfortable
as you do. But we can't do anything at all now....I’ve asked Fred to find all the outstanding doctors in
East China. Believe me, Auntie will definitely be fine."
Although Jane still insisted on rushing in to see her mother, she subconsciously thought Quincy's
persuasion made sense. She didn't behave as irrationally as before.
However, 10 minutes later, a young doctor who had just entered ran out in panic. He ran up to Fred and
said in fear, "Mr. Thompson ... the patient's vitality ... is rapidly declining. It is beyond our expectations.
Morse said that ... she was dying."
"What?" Fred was shocked and immediately looked at Quincy. Quincy rounded his eyes and he paused
for a second. Jane, who was beside Quincy, had just calmed down a little and instantly became even
more emotional. She tried her best to charge into the ICU.
"If anything happens to Ms. Hannah, all of you will be fired. Continue treating her!" Fred shouted angrily
at the doctor.
"But ... Morse said that the patient was ... in danger...." The doctor muttered in a low voice.
Quincy got a clue from the doctor's tone. He let go of Jane and rushed into the ICU with her.
"What are you doing? You can't come into the ICU...." The young doctor in front of Fred said.
...
Fred slapped across his face. "How can you stop Mr. Quincy? Open the door!"
"Yes...." The male doctor hurriedly walked over and opened the door.
Quincy, Jane, and Fred all walked in. Standing beside the hospital bed, Jane covered her mouth with
tears and looked at her mother in horror. Hannah's face was pale and haggard. She wore an oxygen
mask and had several tubes inserted into her body.
Hannah's bed was surrounded by doctors. Jane was stunned. She was afraid that her mother's
treatment would be delayed. She felt that someone was gouging her heart bit by bit with a knife.
"How is Ms. Hannah?" Fred asked Morse.
Looking at Fred's serious face, all the doctors were extremely nervous.
"We stabilized the patient's condition just now, but now there is a sudden mutation. She has a
cardiopulmonary failure. Besides, something goes wrong with her liver, spleen, kidney, large intestine,
and respiratory tract...." Morse said truthfully. When he saw Hannah's condition, he was shocked. Her
condition was completely different from the one a few hours ago. This was a situation Morse had never
seen before.
"Tell me if you can cure her or not!" Fred ran out of his patience.
Morse was terrified, and the others didn't even dare to breathe.
"I'm afraid ... I can't" Morse answered with difficulty.
"If you can't cure her, you don't need to stay in the hospital anymore!" Fred angrily scolded him. Morse
was scared into kneeling on the ground. The other doctors and nurses also knelt down.
Morse knelt on the ground and said, "Mr. Thompson, forgive me. The patient's condition is quite
special. It is rare to deteriorate to such an extent in just three or four hours. Even the most authoritative
expert in the world may not be able to keep the patient alive in such a short period of time." He
explained to Fred in fear, hoping that Fred would understand them.
Hannah slowly raised her hand on the hospital bed. However, due to her fragile health, Hannah was
actually unable to lift her hand. There was a drip in her hand, making her look so pitiful.
Jane couldn't stand it anymore. She pushed the doctors away and walked to the hospital bed. She
looked at the doctor beside her and said, "My mom wants to remove her oxygen mask."
Others couldn't understand Hannah's intentions. Jane knew her mom well and she saw through her
mom at a glance.
Morse took off Hannah's oxygen mask.
With a deathly pale face, Hannah said softly to Fred, "Mr. Thompson, don't blame them for my illness.
It's my own fault. Now I want to talk to Jane for a moment. Please let them go out first."
"But...." If doctors left, Hannah would undoubtedly die. Fred looked at Quincy with inquiring eyes.
"Let's go." Quincy realized that the situation could not be changed. He, Fred, and the group of doctors
walked out.
"Quincy, please wait...." Hannah weakly said. Quincy stayed, while Fred as well as the doctors walked
out and closed the door.
