Chapter 1492

Chapter 1492

Steven asked again, “I’ve been yakking my jaw off, I’m parched, Can I come in for a drink?” Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

Jeo was soft-hearted, and Steven had just done him a solid. He wasn’t about to leave him high and dry. “Come on in.”.

Jeo went inside first to brew a pot of coffee for his ex-son-in-law. He wasn’t sure if Steven would fancy his best coffee, though.

Steven wasn’t a big fan of the strong aroma of this coffee, but beggars can’t be choosers. Any coffee was good coffee. “I can drink anything.”

Jeo quickly brewed the coffee and poured a cup for Steven. “I do owe you one for standing up for Hannah earlier.”

Steven said, “Hannah is my wife. Speaking up for her is a no-brainer.”

Jeo said, “You guys are divorced, and she’s not your wife anymore. You know that the last person Hannah wants to see is you. So, once you’ve finished your coffee, scram before she wakes up.”e2

Steven felt like he’d been stabbed in the heart, but he kept a poker face. “Alright, I’ll play by your rules.”

Jeo said, “And don’t show up here anymore.”

Steven paused for a second as he lifted his coffee cup, but quickly regained his composure. “Sure, rest assured, I won’t darken your doorstep unless Hannah agrees.”

Steven agreed readily, and Jeo thought that was the last he’d see of him. But the next day, Steven showed up in the village again. He wasn’t here for Hannah; he was here for business. He was warmly

welcomed by the local authorities and was taken to their model village for a visit..

After yesterday’s events, Steven became the talk of the town. Everyone had only good things to say about him. As soon as he entered the village, people recognized him. “Holy cow, isn’t that the son-in- law of the Ableson family? Why is he with the leaders who are touring the area?”

Someone said, “Maybe he’s the driver for the leaders.”

The person who made this comment got punched. “Open your eyes. Which driver walks ahead of the leader?”

“So, who is he?”

“Looks like he’s a big shot.”

“I heard he’s an investor from Harbor City and is going to invest billions here to boost tourism.”

“Who told you that?”

“It was in today’s news. Didn’t you watch the news? Oh, I forgot, some of you can’t read.”

The news wasn’t confirmed, but the word that Steven was an investor from Harbor City spread like wildfire. Neighbors once again crowded in front of Hannah’s house. Their attitudes had changed dramatically, all smiles now. “Hannah, where are your folks?”

It was the afternoon, and the autumn sun was just right. After lunch, Hannah was lounging in the rocking chair in the yard, soaking up the sun. She took off the hat shielding her face and looked at the people entering the yard. “My parents are at the store. What can I do for you folks?”

Kate answered, “We’re here to see you, not your mom. Your dad said yesterday that you haven’t been feeling well lately, so we brought some chickens and eggs from our coops to help you get better.”
