CHAPTER THREE
“N-Nix?”
“Stop, calling me that name.” She bowed of what I said. I hate someone called me that name because it reminds me of her. She’s the first person who called me that name. At first, I am so happy and feel special, but it changed when I hate her.
I rolled my eyes across her room and pushed the door to get inside. The room is clean. It’s perfectly fit for her — if I don’t know what she is. At first glance, you know that the person who occupied here loved paintings, sculptures, displays, and more.
“So, this is your room? How much grandpa spends for this shit?” She did not answer and remained bowed. “Leech,” I added.
“Do you need something?” she asked without looking at me.
“I came here to clarify something.” I turned to face her who looked up. Our eyes met and there was no denying the beauty of her eyes. Her almond eyes with curved eyelashes says a lot. No wonder that everyone likes her but not me. Her eyes can manipulates you. If I were one of those who believed that magic or superstitious belief existed, I would think that this woman is a witch. She bewitched everyone to like her.
“About what?”
“About our wedding.” I saw her face turn red. Don’t tell me she’s excited? “Why did you agree to marry me?” I didn’t hear any response from her. “Answer me, bitch.”
“I just want grandpa to be happy.”
“So, you’re just leeching her? Of course, because you will inherit something too. Maybe grandpa will give you 50% of his wealth.”
“I’m not chasing grandpa’s money.”
“O c’mon, don’t be play innocent. Everyone knows that grandpa loves you more than me. Because you manipulates him using your charm.”
“Why are you mad at me? I’m not doing anything with you. Weren’t we friends before?” she asked as if she wanted to cry.
“That was before when you hadn’t taken everything from me.”
“I’m not taking anything from you, Ni—– I’m not taking anything from you,” she said innocently. Well, she’s like a goddess. I can describe her as the epitome of beauty. Every men’s dream. IF only I hadn’t known her.
“There is, everyone’s attention, my parent’s attention, grandpa’s attention. You took what’s mine.” I pointed to all the displays. “See this all? I should be the one to ask grandpa for that, but since you came, I was thrown out. This all should be mine because I’m the only grandchild and not you.”
“I did not take anything from you and I didn’t ask grandpa for that.”
“Bullshit!” I shouted and saw her startled. She held her two hands as if scared. That’s right, she should have to be afraid of me. “Anyway, I came here to clarify about our fucking marriage. After the wedding, you will live for me in my condo. You will cook for me, wash my clothes, prepare my things, and please me in bed.” I whisper to her.
“C-can’t we just stay here?”
“I will be your husband so you will follow what I said. Don’t tell me you don’t know anything about housework? Of course, you’re a princess here so what do you know. But I don’t care, after the wedding, you will live with me.”
“But I can’t leave grandpa.”
“Stop leeching him, you will be my wife so you will come with me and you have no choice.” Then I went out of her room and left her.
–
I WOKE UP early the next day and headed to the veranda where grandpa always set. I saw him next to that woman talking. I approached them and grandpa noticed me immediately.
“Oh! Phoenix, you’re awake. Come and join us.”
“Good Morning, grandpa.” I kiss him on the forehead then sit next to grandpa. Opposite of this woman who puts coffee on grandpa’s cup.
“You and Hailey are the same. You kiss me on the forehead every time you saw me.” I fake a smile at him while this girl smiles sweetly.
“I already talk with —” I look at her. I am hesitant to mention her name. I don’t want to mention her name but I need to. “—Hailey yesterday in her room, grandpa. We both agreed that after the wedding she will live with me in my condo.” I really hate to mention this woman’s name.
“Are you, Hailey?” grandpa asked her.
“She will be my wife, grandpa. I want her beside me, and you said I should have to protect her. The mansion is far from my work.”
“Hailey,” grandpa called to her. “The decision is yours, Hija.” I was secretly angry because of what grandpa said. This woman will definitely decide for us?
“Yes, yes, I agreed, grandpa,” she said.
“Are you sure, Hija?” She nods.
“If you said so,” grandpa said. “So, you went to her room yesterday?” He diverted his glance at me.
“Yes,” I answered.
“You saw the paintings and the wood carving sculpture displays in her room?” I feel like my anger arise. I remembered again how beautiful it was. Those look expensive. Grandpa wasted millions of that stuff for sure.
“Yes.”
“That’s Hailey’s work.” I stopped drinking coffee because of what grandpa said.
“Whose work?” I asked. Maybe I just heard wrong.
“Hailey made those. She loves to paint, she loves to carve. She gives it as a gift to the staff, to my guests, to my friends. I introduced her works to some of my friends so at least she can earn.” I looked at her who was bent over. Grandpa took her hand. “Take care of her, Phoenix.” I just give him a fake smile. If it weren’t for my desire to get Luxury I wouldn’t have married this woman. And I don’t care if she make those paintings and such. She’s still a leech for me.
“Don Alejandro, we’ve fixed up the hall for Hailey and Phoenix’s wedding.”
“Grandpa, I thought there were no visitors? I told you I want it to make it simple.” Tss, she really loves to play as if she doesn’t want to, but the truth is that’s what she wants. Damn this woman.
“It’s not because no visitor we are not going to celebrate and make it at least fabulous. Who knows there will be other guests coming? Enrique will also come, right?” And who the hell is that Enrique and why does her face brighten after hearing his name?
“Who’s Enrique?” I won’t marry a woman with already a hook?
“Enrique Locsin, son of Emilio.” That crap. My classmate before that always fight with Jace. That arrogant asshole became her friends?
“Who is he to you?” I asked.
“My best friend.”
“Bestfriend, you have a boy best friend?” She nodded in response.
“Something wrong with that, Hijo? As far as I know, you have a girl best friend also, Diana Dane Dy, right?”
“Dane has been a friend since we were young, and Enrique?”
“They became friends when you left.” I did not argue with him. I don’t care what that man is her. Also, she wasn’t the one answering my questions but grandpa.
My phone rang. When I took it from my pocket surprised when I saw the caller. I quickly stood up and said goodbye to them.
“Office calls,” I said from a distance. “Jessa?”
“Is it true that you are a part-owner of Luxury?” I gulped upon hearing her question.
“Yeah,”
“Jace told me that you paid for the investment because you agreed to marry someone?” Shit, that dumbass mouth is always un-trusty.
“Jessa let me —”
“Do you still love me?”
“Jessa, what do you mean?”
“I asked you, do you still love me?”
“Yes, that’s why I’m doing this to get you back. This is all because of you.”
“Meet me at Luxury hotel, room 14, any time before the wedding.” And she ended the call.
Is she here in the Philippines? I thought she was in the USA to prepare for her wedding also. I don’t need time to think. I need to meet her. I need to talk to her because I miss her so much and to explain to her why I do this.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
