Hiding the Twins from Their Billionaire Father

Chapter 264

S31 7. Special Guest

“Wow, it turns out the inn is crowded today?” Sophia stepped onto the porch. When her eyes caught Frank’s face, her eyebrows arched

upwards.

“Frank Harper?” Her forefinger was pointed forward. Her mouth was kept open.

Frank smiled formally. “Long time no see, Mrs. Miller. What a surprise we could meet again. You came with Finnic?”

Diana’s expression suddenly stiffened, while Abigail stared wide-eyed. However, none of them made a sound.

“About that,” Sophia let out an awkward laugh. She tucked her hair behind her ear. “We did keep it a secret from the public. I’m not Mrs. Miller anymore. Call me Miss Moore”

Frank flinched. “You guys … aren’t together anymore?”

Sophia nodded with her chin bent. “Yeah, I know. We’ve only been together a few months. But what can we do?”

She shrugged her shoulders. “It turned out that we weren’t compatible. Moreover, his company was facing big challenges recently. His focus was divided. For him, saving the company was more important than saving our marriage.”

Frank froze a little longer. He realized that his revenge was what made the Miller Corporation fall and it was impossible for Sophia not to know.

“I sympathize with you.”

Sophia waved her hand in a graceful manner. Her laughter sounded polite.

“It’s okay. I’m actually grateful to be free from a toxic relationship. Being alone is much better than being with the wrong person.”

However, Diana still looked at Sophia with pity. While patting the thin hand she was holding, she diverted the conversation.

“Honey, you must be tired after the long journey. You should rest immediately. Abi, prepare a room for our special guest.”

Abigail gasped. Her finger slowly straightened to the side of her head. “Grandma, all the rooms in our inn have been rented. There are no

more available.”

Diana immediately frowned. “I don’t need any reason. Sophia is our main priority. Give her a room.”

“She can use my room. I don’t mind,” Jeremy said, interrupting the old

woman’s words.

“But, where do you want to sleep?” Abigail was amazed.

“I can sleep on the living room couch.”

“Jeremy, it’s winter.” Philip reminded

“No problem. Diana Johnson’s favorite guest is here. The least-liked guest like me of course has to give in.”

Jeremy’s tone was relaxed. However, Frank and Philip knew there was innuendo behind it.

“Sleep with the kids. They’ll be happy,” Frank nodded reassuringly.

“Let’s see the situation later. If I can’t stand the cold, then I’ll move to their room. Children need quality rest, right? Moreover, someone has upset their feelings.”

Satire again. Diana snorted. “Abi, quickly vacate the room. Change the sheets and spray some perfume.”

Jeremy’s hand rose. “No need. I haven’t touched a thing in the room other than the floor and my suitcase. And I don’t smell that bad.”

A second later, Jeremy shifted his gaze towards Sophia. “Your room still smells nice and clean.”

Jeremy’s expression was flat. However, Sophia lost her smile. because of that.

“Yes, this mister is right. You don’t need to bother changing the sheets, Abi,” Sophia said, without moving her straight gaze from

Jeremy.

“Then,” Diana rubbed Sophia’s arm, let’s go in. The temperature here is much lower than that of your hometown. Don’t get cold.”

Diana gave her encouragement. However, Sophia was reluctant to move. “Wait, Grandma. My suitcase.

“You don’t need to worry.” Diana glanced at Jeremy with a fierce expression. “You! Help Sophia carry her suitcase. You can also take your suitcase out of the room after that.”

Jeremy almost sneered. However, he just nodded and walked in. When Abigail was about to follow, Philip stopped her.

“Abi, can you tell us how long you have known Sophia?”

Abigail raised an eyebrow. “Since last month. She was in the process of divorce. She needed refreshing, to be alone from the outside world. Because she liked horse riding, she came here.”

“Out of all the farms, she chose this one?”

Abigail laughed awkwardly at Philip’s suspicious tone.

“Yeah, what’s the harm? DJ’s ranch is the farthest from the city. Maybe, she really wants to isolate herself? Get some fresh air? Or maybe get away from the signal.” Her shoulders rose slightly.

“You

So Known each other for long. But why does Grandma seem

so familiar with her? And you too.”

Abigail wrinkled the bridge of her nose, shaking her head slightly. “Are you jealous?”

Sighing with laughter, Abigail patted Philip’s arm. “Don’t worry, Phil. You’re still our favorite visitor. Once a month, Grandma says she misses you. It’s just that Sophia is very gentle and kind. The children at the orphanage like her too.”

Suddenly, Abigail’s finger straightened up. “Apart from that, she is

also tough. I admire her tenacity in facing life. It’s not easy to end a marriage that has only lasted a while. The pressure must be very big.”

While Philip was pensive, Abigail shifted her eyes around.

“When you get to know Sophia better, I think you’ll understand why. Grandma calls her a special guest. I think she’s special too. So, don’t be offended. You’re still the best visitors on this farm. Now come on

in.”

As Abigail left, Frank and Philip exchanged glances. Their jaw lines tightened.

“I think the probability is too small for it to be a coincidence,” Philip whispered, seriously.

Frank didn’t answer. He placed a hand on Philip’s shoulder and thought. “Looks like, something is out of our sight. Stay alert.”

Philip nodded.

“Good morning, Mommy,” the twins greeted when they entered the kitchen.

Kara turned her head. Looking at the toddlers in pajamas holding

hands, her lips curled up beautifully. “Hello, Little Angels. How did you sleep?”

“I slept soundly. Maybe because I was tired. I don’t usually cry like yesterday. My eyes hurt.” Louis rubbed his eyes.

“As for me, I didn’t sleep well, Mommy. I had a nightmare.” Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

“Oh yes?” Kara turned off the stove then kissed her children one by

one.

“What are you dreaming about?” She stroked Emily’s chubby cheek.

“I dreamed that a witch was attacking our castle. She was riding a broomstick while swinging her wand everywhere.”

Louis’ eyes widened. He had forgotten his sleepiness. “Then what happened? Did we manage to defeat her?”

“Luckily you and Daddy had a shield to ward off the magic. The spell turned against her. But poor Grandma Diana, she was injured trying to escape at the stairs.”

“Grandma Diana was in our palace?”

Emily nodded cutely. She looked too serious. “Maybe she just moved last night. Suddenly, Grandma Diana was there.”

Kara felt both annoyed and pitiful. Emily’s nightmare must have come from the commotion at dinner.
