Hiding the Twins from Their Billionaire Father

Chapter 260

S31 3. Unhealed Wounds

While the couple calmed the twins, Philip glanced at Abigail who also wore a gloomy look.

“Abi, if you don’t mind, can you prepare four rooms for us?”

Philip knew the inn was sufficient to accommodate them, and he suspected that the twins were becoming sensitive because they were

tired.

“Okay.”

After taking one last look at the toddlers, Abigail rushed in. At that moment, Diana closed the door to her room. Her heart felt strange

hearing the twins’ pain.

However, again, she clenched her left hand into a fist to support her right elbow. While sitting on the edge of the bed, she rubbed her neck as if there was something wrong with her throat.

“I can’t be influenced,” she said dryly. Then, closing her eyes, she kept repeating the affirmation.

“Hey,” Kara rubbed Frank’s shoulder before sitting down on the stairs too. Frank looked up, rubbing the back of her hand.

“Are they asleep?”

Kara nodded. “Their eyes must be heavy from crying. But don’t worry. Once they wake up, their joy will be full again.”

While Frank smiled sadly, Kara studied the situation. “What are you doing here?”

Frank’s finger pointed towards a field covered in light snow.

Watching drama in real life.”

Kara followed Frank’s gaze. As soon as she found Philip explaining something to Barbara, her mouth widened. “Barbara wants to learn horse riding?”

“I think so.”

“Then, where’s the drama?”

Frank’s finger shifted toward the barn. There, Abigail was pacing back

and forth, moving hay bales from the tractor inside. Her gaze

occasionally fell on Philip.

“You also think that Abigail secretly likes Philip?”

Frank nodded and smiled slightly. “She must be thinking about….

what it would be like to be Barbara.”

Kara’s lips pursed. Propping her elbows on her knees, she took a deep

breath.

“What a pity. It must be hard to give up the person we love for someone else,” she muttered.

Frank’s eyes shifted towards the corner. Seeing his wife’s concerned expression, he was moved to put an arm around her back.

“Thank you for accepting me. Otherwise, my fate might be worse than Abigail’s.”

Kara found sadness in those dim eyes. Not wanting to bring it up, she stroked his cheek then gave him a kiss.

“I am your loyal friend, Frank. I will always be by your side. You will never be lonely.”

The corners of Frank’s lips lifted higher. However, after a blink, his eyes became misty again.

“You know what? Apart from her love life, Abigail is much luckier than me. She has a love that I don’t have.

The curve of Kara’s lips shrunk. She realized that her husband had not managed to forget his pain.

“A love from Diana Johnson, you mean?”

Frank pursed his lips into one corner. “Yes, my grandmother clearly loves her. Otherwise, how could they live together? She even trusts Abigail to manage the farm.”

Kara didn’t dare answer. Denial or agreement, both felt wrong.

“I don’t know what sin I have committed to have to endure this. None of my family members love me.”

“Jeremy loves you.”

“But he’s different. He’s not completely Harper. He was more influenced by his mother and grew up independent. Whereas my grandfather? My mother? My grandmother?”

Frank shook his head helplessly. “I’m sorry you have to accept such rejection. I’m really sorry that my family was so rude to you and the children.”

Kara shook her head. “It’s not a big deal, Frank. Don’t worry about us.”

However, Frank’s shoulders dropped further. “I had high hopes when I came here. I thought Diana Johnson could prove that the Harper family could also welcome you well. But….”

“Hey,” Kara rubbed his chest, as if to ease the anxiety behind it, “it’s okay, Frank. Really. We don’t know what happened to your

grandmother in the past. Her attitude wasn’t because of you. You don’t need to feel guilty, hmm?”

Frank’s brows furrowed deeper, reflecting his feelings. However, his

common sense agreed with Ra

“You think so?”

“Yes,” Kara widened her smile, “maybe your grandmother had a deep wound. That’s why she was angry when she saw us coming. We reminded her of that pain.”

Frank was pensive. Too many memories flashed through his mind. Kara helped him choose one.

“Do you remember your mother? She was like that too. It’s not fair that she took her frustrations out on you. But that’s because her wound never healed.”

“So we have to heal my grandmother’s wound?” Frank’s eyebrows rose in anticipation.

Kara smiled softly. Her thumb began to smooth out the wrinkles on that handsome face.

“Yes. Therefore, stop blaming yourself or the past. After this, we will ask the twins to join us melting your grandmother’s heart.”

Frank’s burden slowly fell from his shoulders. His lungs weren’t too congested.

“Thank you, Kara. For your understanding and support.” Frank rubbed

her back.

Kara pursed her lips, trying to keep her smile from getting too big, but failed. She always felt proud every time she managed to cheer Frank

“You’re welcome, My Love.” She kissed his lips briefly.

Frank blinked. “What did you call me just now?” His eyes widened in disbelief.

Kara pursed her lips, raising her shoulders slightly. She was like Emily

who was holding back her amusement. “No replay.

“Come on, Kara. My hearing was a little blocked from you kissing me. My heartbeat covered your voice.”

Kara narrowed her eyes. “I said it before I kissed you.”

“But the break was too short.” Frank pulled Kara closer. “Come on, say it one more time. Otherwise, I’ll call you Queen Bee during this holiday.”

Kara pursed her lips, putting on a teasing look. “I don’t want to. It’s your own fault you didn’t listen properly.”

“You dare to be naughty in front of me?” Frank tickled her waist. Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

Kara gasped and quickly caught his fingers. “Hey, you dare bother me?”

“Yeah, I will keep bothering you until you repeat the romantic call.”

Kara laughed again. Frank’s continuous attacks were now merciless. After a few moments, her body collapsed in the man’s lap. She was helpless when Frank sucked her lips

Seeing that sweet sight, Diana’s eyes were filled with red streaks. Her chin trembled and her hand gripped the chest again. The tightness nearly killed her once. She never expected that it could rise again.

“Your family will never be happy, Rowan! You will never feel true love! Bury my words to your heart!”

Diana closed her eyes listening to the echo of her voice. She said it a long time ago, but why was it still so loud?
