Chapter 759
Chapter 759
Everyone was quite taken aback by this juicy piece of gossip.
"Does Director Bowman still have a thing for Mr. Whitfield, or why else would she be primping herself
up in there?"
"Nah, she's already married, plus the head of this company is her father-in-law. I bet she just can't
stand the idea of Mr. Whitfield not seeing her at her best. It's like trying to appear all perfect in front of
your ex."
"I sure would love to meet Mr. Whitfield's ex-wife. She must have been something to ruffle Director Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.
Bowman's feathers. Heard she was a Pritchard, a rich lady and a big movie star. But after she divorced
Mr. Whitfield, all the stories about her just seemed to vanish."
Suddenly, someone turned to Agnes, who was still engrossed in her writing, "Hey Agnes, you're a
Pritchard too. Could Mr. Whitfield's ex-wife be some distant relative of yours?"
Agnes had been hearing every word as they discussed the matter. She had been intentionally avoiding
the topic, refraining from participating, and quietly focusing on her work. But why on earth did the
spotlight suddenly shift to her?
Agnes chuckled, "Well, here's a secret, guys. That woman is actually me."
Everyone burst into laughter, "Agnes, you can't be serious! Everyone knows you studied abroad. If you
were Mr. Whitfield's ex-wife, then I might as well be Mr. Whitfield's number one mistress."
Another chimed in, "And I would be the second one then."
"You are indeed quite a character." They all laughed and gossiped, teasing each other.
Agnes sighed in relief.
She had done it on purpose. Claiming to be Jared's ex-wife was the perfect way to make sure no one
would believe it. But she couldn't keep up this charade forever.
When the truth came out, at least she had given herself a way out.
But what she didn't understand was why Jared had suddenly shown up at her company.
Did that afternoon aroused his suspicions? Agnes sighed inwardly.
Not long after, Yolanda emerged from the office. Just in time, as Jared and the station head walked into
the newsroom.
Yolanda flicked her hair and walked over nonchalantly. Upon reaching them, she greeted, "Dad."
"Yolanda, since you're still here, let me introduce you. This is Mr. Whitfield, the CEO of Tim Group.
They've chosen us to produce their promotional video. I want you to handle this project. So, it's good
for you both to get acquainted."
Yolanda, ever so poised, replied, "Dad, Mr. Whitfield and I are old acquaintances. No need for
introductions."
Then she turned to Jared, "Isn't that right, Mr. Whitfield?"
Jared's gaze fell on Yolanda, his eyes sharp as if he was sizing something up.
No wonder Leo said that Agnes had been sorting old newspapers at work.
So, it was because of her new boss.
Jared gave a small smile, "Ms. Bowman, of course, I remember."
The station head was delighted. The Tim Group had its own promotional team. Them choosing their
company to produce the video was like a pie falling from the sky.
Yolanda added, "Mr. Whitfield, let me show you around our News Department. We have the best talent
and state-of-the-art equipment. Choosing us for your promotional video is a wise decision."
Jared seemed indifferent, not responding. His gaze scanned the room and eventually landed on Agnes,
who was engrossed in her writing.
