Chapter 8 Unusual Gentleness

Her eyes widened. She tried to turn around, but he quickly wrapped his arms around her and embraced her from behind.

“A–Aren’t you going to eat?” NôvelDrama.Org holds © this.

“I want my dessert first.”

Huston planted a kiss on her neck, then trailed his lips down further.

She dared not meet his gaze, looking up at the light above them.

His kisses brought out a soft moan from her lips as her body melted into his arms.

“You have a sweet voice. Let me hear it more.

Evelyn gradually became lost in the whirlwind of passion. She seemed to start to understand why Jerry enjoyed having sex so

much…

The food on the table had cooled down, and Evelyn’s lingering hunger had transformed into exhaustion from Huston’s intense

actions.

In contrast, Huston appeared much more composed. After tidying himself up, he carefully washed his hands before sitting at the dining table and savoring the meal. He even offered comments on each

dish.

“No black pepper next time. It’s not to my liking,” he said as Evelyn emerged from the bathroom.

She pouted. “Just don’t eat it if you don’t like it.”

Huston’s hands, holding the knife and fork, paused. When he looked up at her, sheimmediately averted her gaze and stammered, “I–I mean, if you don’t want it… I’ll eat it.”

He patted the chair beside him. “Come here.”

She had intended to go upstairs and rest, but now she had no choice but to awkwardly take a seat.

Suddenly she recalled what happened during the day with Jerry, and took out her phone.

“I have something to show you…”

“Eat first,” Huston interjected without even glancing at her. “I prefer not to talk while eating.”

‘You certainly have a lot of quirks,‘ Evelyn silently cursed in her mind, but she still obeyed.

She found Huston later in a study on the third floor.

He changed into a dark blue satin robe, the collar slightly open, revealing his enticing chest and sun– kissed skin.

Evelyn lowered her gaze nervously and handed him her phone. “I took this video today.”

Huston watched the video without any display of emotion. “Make a copy and send it to my email.”

“Is… Is that all?”

He pondered for a moment. “If I were you, I would check Jerry’s hotel check–in records before he conceals any more information.”

She gasped with realization. Why hadn’t she thought of that before? “I’ll do that tomorrow!”

Just as she was about to leave, Huston stopped her. “Why did the video end so abruptly?”

Evelyn lowered her eyes quickly, “Oh. Um… My phone fell to the ground.”

Huston looked her up and down. He observed her face and noticed a few red marks on her cheek, slightly covered by foundation.

His eyes turned cold. “I listened to your conversation… They hit you?”

She quickly lowered her head and concealed the red marks with her hair. “No, of course not.”

“Evelyn, I don’t like being lied to,” His expression darkened. “I’ll give you one more chance. Tell me the truth.”

The threat in his eye’s sent shivers down her spine. She bit her–lip. “It was my husband’s lover… Maura.”

After a few seconds of silence, he let out a heavy sigh. Disappointment and frustration were evident on his face as he clenched his teeth. “It’s not uncommon to see wives beating up the homewreckers. How did it turn around in your case?”

Evelyn retorted in a soft voice, “I… also hit Jerry.”

He frowned. “Should I applaud you for that?”

She kept her head lowered and heard him walk away. Just as she wondered if she had made him unhappy somehow, he returned with a first–aid kit.

He sat on the sofa and opened the kit. “Come here.”

She obediently walked over and sat down. Huston gently applied balm to her red cheek.

The balm was soothing, its softness mingled with the warmth of his fingertips… His actions were unusually gentle.

She stole a glance at Huston out of the corner of her eye. He was focused and careful as he tended to her wound, completely different to when he was consumed by desire.

Even Jerry had never once been so caring with her.

Her heartbeat quickened. Just as she was about to look away, he caught her.

“What are you staring at?”

Her cheeks flushed crimson. This change didn’t go unnoticed by Huston, and his own heart beat faster.

“Thank you…” She murmured awkwardly.

He raised an eyebrow and put down the balm. “I prefer actions over words, you know.”

“What do you mean by acti-”

Before she could finish her sentence, he suddenly grabbed her chin and put his thumb into her mouth.

“I mean this.”
