Chapter 2386
Chapter 2386
"Huh?" Sophia asked curiously, "What misunderstanding?"
Zoey pointed at the bottle of wine on the table between them. "Drink up, and I'll tell you!"
Knowing the bottle was freshly opened, Sophia didn't hesitate and took a generous sip.
Zoey filled her glass again, "To be honest, Robin isn't as great or noble as you think. You've been fooled by his pretentious facade." Sophia's curiosity was piqued, "What do you mean?"n"Remember when we went to the rural area for the volunteer project? Do you know why we were all against Robin?" Zoey asked.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
Straightforwardly, Sophia said, "Because you were all jealous of his excellence!"n"Girl, you're too naive," Zoey laughed, sipping her wine before slowly explaining, "Why would I be jealous of him? Even if his grades were better, I had a higher starting point after graduation. What's there to be jealous of? We were against him because he's vain and would do anything to achieve his goals! That volunteer project was actually planned by him and Hugo, but most of the ideas were Hugo's. However, when it came time to report to the coordinator, he only mentioned his own name. He did it to steal the credit, to make himself look better, all for a chance at a scholarship! We were against Robin, actually to stand up for Hugo!"
Sophia was shocked, "You're making this up!"n"I'm not. If you don't believe me, ask Hugo yourself in the class group chat. Wasn't it like this? Hugo was so mad when he found out, he dropped out of the project," Zoey confidently claimed.
Sophia suddenly remembered, Hugo was indeed listed as one of the organizers at the beginning, but then he didn't participate.
Her heart sank, but she still couldn't believe Robin would do such a thing.n"And not just that, didn't Robin later donate books to an underprivileged school? Do you know where he got the money?" Zoey asked.
Sophia replied, "He earned it from his summer job!"n"Pfft!" Zoey spat out in disdain, "His earned money? That was bribe money!"n"What?" Sophia's eyes widened in shock.
Zoey sneered, "Our project caught the attention of a food company looking to advertise. They approached Robin privately, offering him two thousand dollars to help them out. When someone caught wind of this, Robin used that money to buy books for the school to shut them up!"
Zoey continued, "It's really something, isn't it? He took a bribe, and yet, he ended up with a reputation as a hero!"
Sophia was stunned, speechless.n"Are you serious?" Sophia couldn't believe what she was hearing.
Zoey nodded, "Absolutely. The
classmate who caught him even recorded it. Otherwise, why would Robin willingly give up the money? I still have the recording. Let me find it for you."
Zoey dug through her old social media account, found the recording in a private album, and handed her phone to Sophia, "Listen for yourself." Taking the phone, Sophia pressed play and listened closely.

The recording started with an angry voice, "Robin, you always seemed like such a decent guy, but I can't believe you'd do this. This food company has been exposed several times for poor quality, and you dared to advertise for them, even willing to let the kids consume their products?"n"I didn't, I—" It was Robin's voice, young and trembling, "They were donating food, isn't that a good thing?"n"Stop making excuses. I saw you take their money. I'm going to the coordinator right now!"n"Don't!" Robin's voice sounded desperate, "I didn't want the money, really, I made a mistake, please, don't tell the coordinator, or I'm ruined!"
The recording was filled with Robin's pleas, even offering to kneel.
In the end, he promised to donate all the money to the school, and only then did the classmate relent.
Sophia's face turned pale, her hand shaking as she held the phone, feeling a cold emptiness inside her.
Zoey took back the phone, scoffing, "Gladys was too soft-hearted to expose Robin. And now, our school even has Robin's photo on the Wall of Honor, what a joke!"
Sophia shivered, unable to shake off
the cold. She had been drawn to Robin by his talent and leadership in organizing that project, and later, his act tof donation had made her fall for him.
For ten whole years.
