Chapter 778 This Might Be A Misunderstanding
Milania walked out of her office and went to look for Saorise. Before she could speak, Saorise grumbled, “Today, I saw Skylar shopping for sleepwear, but in the end, she didn't purchase it. The online rumors about her losing money from investing seem to be true.”
Milania did not care about the rumors. She was more concerned about Saorise. “It doesn't matter whether she's losing money or not. Guess what? I overheard Valerie's conversation and learned that Skylar's collaborating with Hulk P. The management is playing favoritism. It's not looking good for you if things continue this way. You can't always be in her shadow.”
Saorise became vexed after hearing what Milania said. “I don't care what kind of backer she has. I got the female lead for 'Lord of the Rings' while she didn't even get the supporting role. So, why do I have to worry? It's only a choreography; there's no way she can outshine me.”
Milania was rendered speechless. Saorise had always been confident, perhaps too confident for her good. She did not want to nag further for fear it might annoy Saorise. Now that her popularity was rising, Saorise became less willing to accept advice and criticism.
Meanwhile, Skylar faced a roadblock; Hulk P refused to work with her anymore. Even though Kate tried to salvage the situation, Hulk P insisted on terminating the collaboration. This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Skylar wondered if they had been overaccommodating Hulk P to the extent that he was walking all over their heads. Everyone has their bad days. I don't understand why he's so mean.
Seeing the sky had turned dark, Skylar decided to deal with the problem tomorrow since there was no point thinking of a solution now. She got into the car feeling groggy. Just then, Penelope, who was in the car, had just finished a video call with her daughter.
The little fellow was crying for Penelope again. Penelope's mother was unhappy about her returning home late often and throwing the responsibility of looking after the child to her.
Skylar had three assistants, and all of them had love-related issues. Only Penelope accompanied her today as the other two had applied for medical leave.
Slumping comfortably in the backseat behind the front passenger seat, Skylar asked Penelope, “Do you remember Molly?”
Penelope replied, “Of course I do. The princess from our area, right? Back then, she was the only girl who wore tulle dresses and pretty leather shoes. Her family is wealthy, but her mother is humble. You could see her mother had a good upbringing—she was polite to everyone and had a heart of gold. She used to offer me yummy snacks when I went to her house. I recently bumped into her mother and was shocked that she had aged a lot. Her face has more wrinkles compared to my mom.”
Hearing Penelope reminiscing made Skylar recall the memories with Molly's mother. She remembered the older woman was pretty, elegant, and got along well with the neighbors.
Nobody liked playing with Skylar as a child because of her filthy appearance. The other children teased her for having no parents and spoke the worst of her parents. Being bullied by those kids was almost a daily affair.
Molly's mother did not despise her, though. Once, she noticed Skylar's shoe had a tear in the front, revealing her toe. She was heartbroken at the sight, so she bought Skylar her first pair of leather shoes.
The more Skylar thought about the past, the more she feared that Molly might be telling the truth.
Seeing Skylar suddenly becoming quiet, Penelope waved her hand in front of her, trying to get a response. Startled, Skylar jolted from her daze and blinked her eyes.
“Why did you suddenly ask about her? You rarely interacted with her though she's in the same company as you now. Is she trying to get into your good books?”
Skylar merely smiled and did not say anything more. She was reluctant to tell Penelope what she had heard. Inside her heart, she was hoping it might be a misunderstanding.
