Epilogue
Two months had passed since they found out that she was pregnant and Amber had been living in sheer bliss. She had nothing but praise for her husband who had been extraordinarily loving, patient, and understanding with her throughout this period.
In the past two months, so many significant events have unfolded. First, Devlin’s father and brother were both acquitted of their cases. It was uncovered that everything had been orchestrated by Harrison. Then, Raven gave birth to a healthy baby boy, filling their lives with so much joy.
At marmee’s request, they visited Harrison in jail. Despite the problems he had caused, Amber held hope that he would eventually find the peace he had long been searching for. In her heart, she had already forgiven him, and Devlin shared the same sentiment.
Harrison broke down when he saw Amelia after several decades. His initial intention had been to see her before he discovered that Amber was her granddaughter. It was Olivia who told him that Amelia has been living in California all these years. However, his determination to seek revenge had been consuming him, leading to the unfortunate turn of events.
“Forgive me, Amy. I am such a horrible person for bringing all these evil deeds towards your family.” He said sincerely, his head bowed in remorse.
“I have forgiven you, Lucas,” Amelia called him by his real name. Her voice filled with understanding. “And I also wanted to see you. For so long, it has been bothering me that I was not able to help you years ago when you came to the orphanage. Had I helped, perhaps you would have taken a different path, and none of this would have happened,” she continued, her voice faltering as she remembered the past.
“Please don’t blame yourself, Amy. I made wrong decisions in life. Did you know that Olivia gave me a chance to redeem myself? She allowed me to continue working in the company and became her trusted confidante. But how did I repay her?” he said with choked words.
“Right after she passed away, I resumed my plan to seek revenge against her family. She knew all along and was urging me to forget the past and make peace with myself. She even asked for forgiveness countless times for what her late husband did and her father-in-law. But what did I do? Hatred still consumed me in the end.” This time, he was sobbing uncontrollably.
Before the police returned him to his cell, he went down on his knees and apologized to Devlin and Amber. “I genuinely regret what I did. I hope you can forgive me.”
“You are forgiven. I hope you can find forgiveness as well and peace in your heart.” Devlin replied without hesitation. He noticed the old man’s deteriorating health and believed that choosing forgiveness was the best path, allowing him to break free from the burdens of the past.
Amber, her eyes filled with a mixture of compassion and sadness, added, “It’s not easy to carry the weight of hatred and revenge, especially for so long. We hope you can find healing.”
The old man nodded, grateful for their words. “I know I can never undo the past, but I want to be a better person even for these few remaining moments of my life.”
“It’s never too late to turn your life around.” Devlin said with a serious tone.
As they left the police station, Amber turned to her husband and said, “Forgiving him will bring some closure to this painful chapter in our lives.”
Devlin agreed, “You’re right. Letting go of the past is the only way to move forward and find the peace we all need.”
A few days later, they found out that Harrison had peacefully passed away in his sleep.
“Amber, I’ve been trying to get your attention. Your groom has been bombarding me with calls and messages for the past half hour,” her best friend Jillian’s voice interrupted her thoughts. Amber only smirked at her friend. It is not like Devlin is far from her. He is just impatient when it comes to waiting.
“Hey, is everything fine? Don’t tell me you have second thoughts about marrying Devlin?” Jillian jokingly asked. Amber merely rolled her eyes at her best friend.
“I’ve never been more certain. Besides, we are already married and in a few months time, we are going to have our baby.” Amber chuckled softly.
“So, in short, Mr. Devlin Wesley made sure that you’re going to be his by getting you pregnant while walking down the aisle.” Jillian giggled.
“But kidding aside, I’m so happy for you. You’re positively glowing with happiness.” Jillian said, getting teary-eyed as she hugged her.
“Ladies, it is time. I hope you haven’t ruined your make-up.” said the wedding coordinator as a reminder. The room buzzed with excitement as the bridesmaids checked one another’s dresses and makeup, making sure everything was perfect for the occasion.
“Let’s go. Marmee has been waiting for us downstairs,” Jillian said with a bright smile.
Today is her wedding day. Devlin took care of everything to set up their garden wedding at their spacious mansion. Following the celebration, they planned to embark on their month-long honeymoon together. Despite her visible pregnancy, it didn’t deter her husband from booking their honeymoon. Amber protested but Devlin insisted on having a long, enjoyable vacation with her.
Marmee embraced her tightly as she descended the stairs. “I’ve never seen you this happy and beautiful, my child.” Amber simply returned the hug and planted a kiss on marmee’s cheek.
“I couldn’t thank you enough, marmee. I love you so much.” Once again, they shared a warm embrace before Amber followed her bridesmaids.
As Amber slowly made her way down the aisle, she spotted Devlin from a distance. He looked dashing in his Armani suit, a broad smile never leaving his face. He kept his gaze fixed on her as she approached, his eyes filled with love and admiration.
Amber silently thanked Grandma Olivia for everything. It was her who insisted for them to marry even if they haven’t met each other yet. She must have seen something in the two of them. And she was glad that she agreed to the marriage. The road was not easy for her and Devlin. At the end, it was the love that they nurtured that prevailed.
As she got closer to her man, she noticed that he was trying to blink hard, probably to mask the tears that were about to flow. Tears of joy, indeed! She was feeling the same thing.
“You look ethereally beautiful as you walk down that aisle, wife.” Devlin whispered as he gently took her arm and entwined it with his. Then, they faced the man who was going to officiate their marriage in front of almost a hundred guests.
A kind-looking man with a warm smile welcomed them. “Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to celebrate the union of Devlin and Amber in matrimony.”
Amber felt Devlin’s grip on her arm tighten, and she looked up at him with a smile. “I can’t believe this is happening,” she said softly. This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Everything felt absolutely perfect. The garden of their grand mansion had transformed into a breathtaking scenic place full of vibrant flowers. The sun cast a warm, golden glow over the lush, manicured lawns, making the entire setting seem like a page out of a fairytale.
Their guests comprised an intimate gathering of beloved family members and cherished friends. Among the well-wishers were also the loyal employees who had been an integral part of their journey, working tirelessly to bring their dreams to life. And not to be forgotten, Devlin’s dedicated business investors who had shown unwavering faith in his vision were there to celebrate this momentous occasion with them.
The officiant continued, “Love has brought you together, and it is love that will sustain your journey together as a married couple.”
Amber couldn’t hold back her tears of joy any longer. She blinked them away and turned to Devlin. “I love you,” she whispered.
“I love you too, more than words can express,” Devlin replied, his voice filled with tenderness.
As the ceremony proceeded, their love filled the room, touching the hearts of everyone in attendance. Friends and family watched in awe as the couple exchanged their vows, sealing their commitment to one another with a kiss.
During the reception, the newlyweds found a moment to themselves. Amber touched Devlin’s arm, feeling the weight of their commitment. “You know, it’s incredible how far we’ve come.”
Devlin chuckled, “I do, and I’m grateful we followed what Grandma Olivia made us promise to do. I can’t imagine my life without you now.”
As they danced, their love story continued to unfold, proving that love could truly conquer all obstacles. Friends and family toasted their happiness, and the night was filled with laughter, music, and joy as they celebrated the love between Amber and Devlin.
Six months later, Amber found herself back in the hospital. She had just given birth to a healthy set of twins, a girl and a boy. Her husband stood by her side, tears of joy in his eyes as they gazed at their little bundles of joy. The twins were fragile and tiny, yet their presence brought immense happiness to them.
“Thank you so much, wife. This is another incredible milestone in our growing family,” he whispered as he gently kissed his wife’s forehead.
