Chapter 568
Chapter 568
Lucas had finally come to a heartbreaking realization: Linda was the one who cared the least about him. She couldn't care less if he lived or died. His eyes were blazing with anger. "Linda, you've wrecked everything. You've ruined my life. You're truly despicable."
As he tightened his grip, Linda frantically tried to pry his hand away, her eyes bloodshot and gasping for air. "Lucas... do you really want to harm... the child I'm carrying?"
Her words hit him like a cold splash of reality. The child-yes, that was all he had left. The only flicker of hope in his otherwise bleak existence. Reluctantly, Lucas released her.
Linda coughed violently, struggling to catch her breath. It took her a moment, but she finally did.
Lucas, now calmer, gave her a look colder than ice. "Linda, once the child is born, I want you out of the Moncada family. I never want to see you again."
He wished he could tear her apart for the betrayal, the lies, the way she'd manipulated him. But there was a secret binding them that couldn't see the light of day. He couldn't kill her, so the best he could do was banish her from his life forever.
With his secret exposed, Linda no longer needed to keep up the charade. She was done pretending, tired after three years. Picking up a hair tie from the vanity, she twirled it in her hand. "Fine, I'll leave. But before the baby arrives, you have to agree to two conditions."
"What conditions?" he snapped.
"I want a grand wedding, one that everyone knows about," she replied.
Lucas was unimpressed. "You've asked for that before."
Linda had the Moncada family cornered with the unborn child, and he knew they had no choice but to give in. "And the other thing?" he pressed. "The other thing... you'll find out when it's time."
Lucas's voice was sharp and cutting. "You think I'll agree to anything you want."
"Don't worry, you'll definitely want to do this."
Later that night, when Chloe
returned home, it was late. Yet, the bedroom light was still on. She walked in to find Connor lounging on the bed, engrossed in a book. His silver-rimmed glasses gave him a scholarly look, a rare sight for Chloe. Paired with his gray open robe, he exuded an alluring mix of restraint and seduction. Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Chloe sauntered over, giving him an up-and-down glance. She cheekily hooked her finger under his chin. "You've got some nice skin there." Connor chuckled, leaning back and purposefully opening his robe a bit more to show off his abs. "I dressed up just for you. Like what you see?" Chloe burst into laughter. "Who are you trying to impress with this fancy get-up?"
"You, of course!" he declared, pulling her into his arms and showering her with kisses.
Chloe giggled, her neck tickling from his affection. "All this because I met with Lucas?"
Connor propped himself up, feigning jealousy. "Did he spill his heart out to you today?"
Chloe couldn't help but laugh,
remembering the day they got their marriage license. Lucas had

would've thought he'd still be hung up on that?

Wrapping her arms around Connor's neck, she reassured him, "He could confess a hundred times, and it wouldn't matter. He's not as handsome as you, not as wealthy, and definitely not as stylish. What are you worried about?"
Connor, full of pride, nodded in agreement. Leaning closer to her ear, his voice turned husky with a playful edge. "And let's not forget, he's definitely not as skilled in bed as I am."
