Despicable Roommate

Jessie’s POV

Pushing hair off my face, I stood up and went to answer the door, wondering who had the guts to show up so early in the morning. I threw the door open and gasped when I saw who it was. Alec Warton was standing at my door looking like a dishevelled mess. He did smell kind of funny too.

“Please come in,” I said with a sweet smile. “It’s good to see you, Alec.”

He raised his hand to slap me but I caught it just in time. It seemed like he had not been eating well because his hands had no energy that day.This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

“Why did you kiss me? Did you know that Lynn was coming down the stairs?”

I chuckled. “Of course, I did. I knew that she was coming. I love you so much, but I know you were not going to see it until you broke up with her. You should be thankful I did what I did because it has shown you what type of person Lynn Harris is. She didn’t even listen to you, but ran away to the nearest guy for help. She didn’t give you a chance to explain yourself. Even criminals deserve a fair trial. The truth is that Lynn has never stopped thinking of you as a player. She was always expecting you to do something like this, that’s why she actually believes you did.”

“You’re a terrible person. I wonder what Lynn saw in you. I came to tell you that I’m not going to let this slide. I’ve had a rough couple of days. Just because I’ve been quiet does not mean I’ll let this pass without retaliating. You won’t know until it hits.”

He turned to leave and I chuckled. “I was only trying to help. I’m sorry your relationship ended like that.”

No response. I closed the door and went back to the couch.

“Did you really have to lie to him?” Lauren asked.

“Did I ask for your opinion on that? Let me remind you that without your contribution, my plans may not have succeeded so think carefully before running your mouth.”

A few minutes later, I heard a knock. “Come in,” I yelled.

The door opened and a beautiful perfume wafted in.

“Hey carina.”

“How far have you gone with the plans,” she asked, take a seat and placing her purse on the table. I told her what had happened since we had last talked. Carina and I had met during a frat party. We had a drunken chat but later went our different ways. We were not interested in friendship until we had a common enemy, someone that was standing in our way.

“She’s going to come for a talk,” Carina said. “I know these kind of girls. I doubt she’ll move on until she has heard his side of the story.”

“That’s why we have to make sure she doesn’t believe him,” I said. I had been waiting for Lynn to appear for the past four days and she had not made an appearance. I already had the security guard on payroll. He would inform me once she set foot in the building. So far it had not happened and I was beginning to wonder if the relationship was completely shattered and I didn’t have to do more to break them apart.

I was happy that Alec looked really miserable. How dare he reject me? Despite being way beyond my league, he had the guts to be arrogant to me. I could get a lot of men who had more going on for themselves than being a jerk on the college football team. I knew men who were millionaires, out of college who could make my life better but I had chosen to settle for him. I had been infatuated but now that had cleared up. I was no longer blinded by stupid love.

“When she returns, you have to find a way of getting into their apartment. If she finds you there, she won’t listen to him at all, and it’ll be the end of them.”

Carina smiled. “Wow, I like that idea. Ross and Chris are really boring sometimes. I need some fun, and I think I’ll enjoy messing with that little girl who thinks she’s better than everyone else. Ross and Chris have soft spots for her and it annoys me so much. I have a feeling that if she told Ross she wanted him, he’d leave me in a heartbeat. We need to get rid of her.”

Suddenly, the door to Lauren’s bedroom opened and she ran to me with my ringing phone.

“It’s the guard,” Lauren shrieked.

“Shush,” I said, grabbing the phone. “Don’t be so loud. Do you want the whole world to know what we’re up to or what?”

“Hey, Jude. What’s up?”

“She’s here.”

“Finally,” I said.

“I just let her through.”

“What the fxck, you idiot. How could you not let me before you did that?” I hang up the phone and turned to carina with a panicked look. “She’s already here.” I ran to the window and pulled the curtains apart. I let out a breath when I saw her standing in the parking lot chatting with Chris. “Good, she’s at the parking lot. Hurry up.”

Carina quickly got up and ran out of the room. I stood at the window, biting my nails, hoping that all would go as planned. A minute later, Lynn and Chris parted ways. Chris went towards the gate while she entered the building. Lauren joined me at the window.

“I don’t think this is going to work,” she said.

“What’s wrong with you today? It sounds as if you’re on that girl’s side.”

Lauren sighed. “Do you really think they deserve what you’re doing to them? You realised that it was just a crush, you don’t actually love the guy. Just let them be.”

“And let Lynn Harris win?” I said, shaking my head. “You know me well, Lauren. I’m disappointed that you think I can let this go. I won’t let them be happy.”

I stayed at the window for a while, anxiously waiting for carina’s report. I was tempted to call her but I managed to maintain some patience.
