Chapter 5 Have You Thought About Meeting Me
Angelina was a bit stunned and wondered, "What? He was looking at me?"
She instinctively looked toward the bedroom door, but no one was there.
There was no one in the room. Nor was there anyone outside the window on the right.
Angelina lost her train of thought and couldn't help but complain, "Are you telling a joke or a horror story?"
A burst of short, soft laughter came from the other end of the phone.
"Black suits you well."
Angelina moved her phone screen and glanced at her recently changed WhatsApp profile picture.
In the picture, she tilted her head slightly, revealing half of her face with a charming big smile.
The black slip dress emphasized her fair delicate skin, square shoulders, collarbones, and the faint outline of her cleavage.
No matter how beautiful the makeup was, it would be meaningless if not captured in a photo.
Angelina thought to herself, "So Might Keith was looking at her photo during the five minutes when he waited?"
She picked up her phone again and chuckled. "So I'm at a disadvantage?"
When she had messaged Might Keith, she was afraid the message would get unanswered, so she used her prominent Twitter account with a verified badge.
Angelina had always been straightforward and didn't deliberately hide anything.
In comparison, she was indeed at a disadvantage.
Because apart from Might Keith's voice, she knew nothing about Might Keith just like millions of his fans.
The man on the other end of the line paused for a while.
Then, he lowered his voice, and his breath seemed to be circling around her ear as he asked, "Have you ever thought about me?"
Angelina unconsciously clenched the pillow next to her. She had no resistance to this kind of voice.
After taking a breath to calm herself down, she asked, "Why should I think about you?"
Might Keith drawled, as if he was giving her time to think about her answer. "Have you ever thought about what kind of person I am? Have you thought about meeting me?"
Angelina was stunned and thought, "What? Meeting me?"
She had never imagined what Might Keith was like in real life, so she wouldn't pry or ask too much about him.
She would rather maintain the status quo than shatter her illusions.
The warm light of the bedroom cast small shadows of Angelina's eyelashes on her fair face.
Then, she said very seriously, "I have a pure appreciation for you, and I just love your voice."
It seemed as if it was only right for her to lust after Might Keith's voice.
Might Keith chuckled softly. "Well, I respect your opinion."
If one listened carefully, one could hear the doting tone in his voice. Perhaps he did not want their meeting to become Angelina's pressure.
Angelina looked like a sharp-clawed wildcat when facing others.
But in reality, she was a kitten who would retract her paws at the slightest touch.
"Is there anything you want to hear?" he asked. Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
Upon hearing this, Angelina responded, "Wait a minute."
Then she put on her slippers and grabbed the headphones on the table.
She even chose expensive headphones with excellent sound quality just to enjoy his voice.
As she lay down, she panted a little. "Okay. I don't know if you'll call me tonight, so I didn't prepare any script."
"Can I read French literature?" Might Keith's pleasant voice slowly rang out.
"Sure," Angelina whispered in response.
It seemed like she had never heard him read a French passage before.
First, a piece of gentle instrumental music played through the headphones, and then she heard him speak fluent French.
His pronunciation was very standard, but his tone was not formal. Instead, it sounded a little laid- back.
He was telling a story about a fleeing little fox.
The little fox sneaked into her owner's house, ate the food, and even took away a tie.
The little fox thought it was hiding well, but little did it know that her owner had already noticed it.
Perhaps because this story was really relevant, Angelina's heart began to race.
Tonight, she was just like this little fox.
After flirting with Might Keith, she ran away.
...
After hanging up the phone, it was already past midnight.
Keith gently rubbed his forehead, but what came to mind was Niles's earlier question.
"Didn't Miss Jefferson recognize your voice?"
Angelina didn't seem to recognize Keith's voice.
Keith's throat moved slightly, and a wry smile came to his face.
He had relaxed his voice in reality, so it sounded slightly different from that on the phone.
Tonight, he tentatively asked if they should meet up.
Angelina, however, explained formally and seriously that she only appreciated his voice.
Keith was afraid of scaring her, so he chose to cover up and take it step by step.
He still had plenty of time.
The little fox obediently followed her owner back home in the end.
So would Angelina, Keith believed.

"I asked many friends for help and pulled a lot of strings to get you an audition opportunity," Janet said.
After a pause, she added, "Even if it's just the third female lead in Director Gates' play, it's still better than the female lead in an ordinary director's play. All the people at the dinner are investors from The Old Palace. If you can make them remember you, maybe you can even skip the audition. I believe you don't want to ruin the good opportunity and disappear from the entertainment circle from now on, right?"
Janet signed Angelina up against everyone's advice in the first place, believing that Angelina was a trump card, but due to internal struggles within the company, Janet was transferred to Department B. A company executive's mistress became the main agent in Department A, and Janet's power was weakened a lot, so she couldn't help Angelina much.
Now, there were so many negative rumors about Angelina online. If she didn't seize this opportunity, she might really have to quit showbiz.
Angelina didn't like social gatherings, but Janet had been very good to her and had always worked hard to help her plan things.
Although Angelina knew this dinner party wasn't simple, she still had to go.
On the way there, Janet reminded her in a concerned voice, "I have other things to attend to, so I'll leave after dropping you off at the hotel. Be polite and don't embarrass those investors! Got it?"
Angelina wore a white long dress and a dark suit jacket, covering up her good curves.
When she pushed open the door to the private room, she realized there were quite a few familiar people there tonight.
Apart from Queenie, the female lead in the first drama that Angelina had played, and Sarah, a female actress from the same company as Angelina but with a different agent from Angelina, there were also a few D-list actresses who looked familiar but whose names Angelina couldn't remember.
The remaining people were the so-called rich investors.
Queenie was the first to speak, pretending to be concerned but actually gloating. "Angie, why are you also here? Don't you hate social gatherings the most?"
The snobbish actress next to Queenie followed suit and sneered. "Miss Jefferson, we thought a stunning lady like you wouldn't be interested in this kind of dinner party. What's wrong? Did you rush over when you found out Director Gates was preparing a new play?"
Angelina looked up at her with a smile. "So did you."
That actress clearly didn't expect Angelina to be straightforward, and she glared at Angelina angrily.
At the same time, many investors in the private room were looking Angelina up and down.
Before she arrived, they thought the actresses present were all somewhat attractive, but after Angelina came in, the investors found it hard to take their eyes off her.
"It's great that Miss Jefferson could come. I thought the rumors were exaggerated, but now I realize that Miss Jefferson is a real stunner who outshines all others," remarked Mr. Chanderson.
"Miss Jefferson, you're the first one to be praised by Mr. Chanderson like this. Why don't you come and toast him?" someone suggested.
