Chapter 87
Sydney got to the menu from the table and scan through it until she finally got what she wanted to have for lunch.
“I’ll have the Chipotle please,” she said and Jaxtom was just staring at her.
All the ladies he had ever dated were always receptive to what he wanted to give them but looking at Sydney she didn’t look or sound like someone who was going to succumb that easily to him.
Jaxton excused himself to go into the bathroom to ease himself but looking at it he spent even more time than he was supposed to.
Twenty minutes went by and still, he had not returned.
This already began to disturb Sydney because she knew he was not the type to fool around.
She was already getting annoyed and was about to leave when on turning she noticed he was coming back from the entrance area.
“Babe I am extremely sorry” he began to apologise but she wasn’t having it because she was pissed with him, she had things to do at the office and she made her waste at least twenty-five minutes at the rest her food was cold and she just wouldn’t understand why he kept doing things that annoyed her.
“What kept you away?” she asked finally as he settled down.
But he looked around for a while before he finally looked at her and then all of a sudden he got up from his sit and came to her and hugged her.
She relaxed in his touch but then again the same figure she had seen some minutes ago passed and she thought she was having hallucinations but she was not.
A figure had indeed passed and she was sure it was someone she knew so she pushed him away from her and asked what was going on.
As she finished eating she also wanted to refresh her makeup before returning to the office.
Sydney tried to shake off the feeling that she was being followed, but the unease inside her only grew stronger.
She couldn’t quite put her finger on it, but something about the way the person behind her moved seemed familiar.Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
As she walked she felt the presence but when she turned no one was in sight.
She quickened her pace and took a few turns to see if the person would continue to follow her, and they did.
Panic gripped her as she realized that it might be someone she knew.
She stopped abruptly and pretended to tie her shoelaces, hoping that the person behind her would pass, but they didn’t.
She looked up and saw another female who was getting into the bathroom and decided that she could be saved for now.
As she finished she walked into the restaurant and told Jaxton that she wants to go to the office.
When he stood there he noticed that her focus was not on him again so he decided to ask what was up.
“You look distracted, was it the food?” had asked concerned and she shook her head no and she thought it was wise for her to share her worries with him.
Besides she knew she could count on him now to protect her because the feeling she had was eerie.
Without making it obvious, she gestured for him to come closer, and when he did, she whispered, “I think someone is following me. It might be someone I know.”
Jaxton’s eyes narrowed in concern as he scanned the area. “Do you know who it might be?” he asked quietly. Sydney shook her head stating no.
“Then let’s leave here this minute the area might be dangerous,” he said and she rushed by his side as had held her hands in place with his.
Whoever it was would have to go through him before getting to her especially if it was a stalker and had known the history of stalkers some of them even get to the point where they kill those they admired or crushed on
“Was it male or female you saw?” Jaxton asked when it resonated with him that they didn’t even know who might have been following her.
If it was male or female, they could be able to teach back to see if it was a silhouette they knew or not.
As they stood there discussing Sydney starting at the door, the fright she felt was enough to have her check every perimeter with care.
“Maybe I am overthinking it, it just might be someone I know nothing about, or maybe the person doesn’t know me at all,” she said to Jaxton after thinking she just might be handling the situation wrong again.
“With the way you are shooked ill like to think you saw something or someone gruesome Babe, please be careful” he asserted but before she could buy and accept what it was he was saying a shadowy figure passed and this time and she screamed.
“What is happening?” Jaxton asked.
“I saw it again and it ran in the other direction and this time I am sure I saw it, someone is following me or maybe following us,” she said as she clung to his body.
“Let’s go into the elevator remember we have CCTV and we should be able to see whoever had passed while we were outside there,” Jaxton said to her.
And they all just walked up the elevator to the electronic room to find out what it is that had been frightening her because she looked frightened as though she had seen a ghost.
The truth was she had not even seen the person’s face but the way she had been frightened was enough to make her feel like she was doing something wrong or if someone was after her life.
“Calm down, here’s a glass of water have a drink,” Jaxton said as he gave her a glass of water.
Sydney was shocked and Paxton walked into the room asking what the problem was.
