Chapter 1383 Better Not To Meet
Zach's eyes were practically blazing. "Mom, why didn't you call me for supper?"
Claudia shot him a glance. "The last time you were willing to eat what I cooked, you were about her age, weren't you?"
Claudia pointed at Grape.
Zach locked eyes with Grape, frustration welling up within him.
Surprisingly, when Grape saw Laura, she immediately slid down from her seat and called out sweetly, "Aunt Laura!"
With a slight curve of her lips, Laura crouched down. "Grape, it's been a while."
There were familiar faces around, which gradually eased Grape's nerves. She reached out and grabbed her mother's hand. "Mommy, Aunt Laura is here. I like it here," she said. Josie curled her lips, asking Laura, "It's already so late. Are you still going out?”
It was clear that they were dressed for going out.
"Yes. We have something to attend to," Laura responded. She then gently pinched Grape's face and said, "I will bring you a toy when I return.”
Zach had long since grown impatient. "Can we speed this up?"Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
Grape tilted her head, her innocence shining through. "Are you also my uncle?"
Uncle? The term had Zach utterly baffled. He glanced at Josie, a scoff escaping him, laced with pure disdain. "Who's your uncle?"
Grape looked utterly bewildered, scared out of her wits.
Claudia was the first to slam the table. "Are you a child just like her? If you continue this ridiculous behavior, don't bother coming home!"
Quickly, Laura ushered Zach toward the exit.
Watching the two depart from Olsen Residence, one after the other, Josie took hold of Grape's hand, patiently explaining, "Philomena, this uncle of yours has a bad temper. It's best if you don't initiate conversation with him when it's not necessary. Just pretend you don't know him, all right?"
Although Josie couldn't provide Grape with the best conditions in Olsen Residence, she still felt more relieved to have Grape by her side.
Though Grape didn't fully comprehend, she still nodded. "Mommy, I won't put you in a difficult position."
In an instant, a pang of sadness welled up in Josie's eyes.
Unknown to the people in the house, Laura and Zach immediately distanced themselves from each other after leaving Olsen Residence, heading toward their respective cars.
Before they went their separate ways, Zach gave a cold, sarcastic reminder, "Have your affair if you must, but don't you dare make a spectacle that brings me shame."
Laura didn't meet his gaze. "The same words go for you."
After that, she drove her car straight toward Strasson Expressway.
The radio in the car was just broadcasting the evening news of the day. With a sweet voice, the host said, "At ten o'clock this morning, Eccentric Corporation finally confirmed a strategic partnership with Olsen Group. Both parties signed the contract, bringing an end to all the outside speculation. It's
worth noting that the person in charge dispatched by Olsen Group was none other than the daughter of the corporation's director.
Surprisingly, the man behind. Eccentric Corporation is a young man under thirty. As many netizens
have followed the news, they can't
help but admire the charm and
talent of the two. They've also started supporting their pairing-"
Laura stared straight ahead, lifting her right hand to turn off the radio.
"Apologies Ms. Brandel. It's too late. Mr. Bastille has already gone to bed," a servant said to Laura.
Even his lies lack substance. Laura looked up, gazing at the light that was illuminating the room.
"Could you ask him for me if he is able to sleep without anyone by his side?" Laura asked.
The servant was clearly in a difficult position. "Mr. Bastille has indeed already gone to bed for the night."
"It seems like you were specifically instructed. We're not meeting, are we?"
"Mr. Bastille said that, given the current whispers and rumors, it might be best for you two not to meet for a while."
Whispers and rumors... Laura smiled sarcastically. She then stopped lingering there and started her car to leave.
Oddly enough, at the fork in the road ahead, she changed her direction, heading to a place that was completely opposite from Olsen Residence.
