Chapter 77
Chapter 77
Yvonne knew well about how to behave. This time, she brought gifts for everyone, including a gift for Olivia.
It was a beautiful gemstone necklace which was quite expensive.
Upon seeing the gift, Amelia ed, “Why did you bring her a gift? She doesn’t deserve something so nice.” She was no longer hiding her disgust towards Olivia.
Yvonne glanced at Amelia and felt surprised. She didn’t expect Emma to hold such a significant place in Amelia’s heart. Amelia was willing to forgo even her pride just to slander Olivia and side with Emma.
Yvonne pretended to be embarrassed. “Previously, because of me, Olivia was embarrassed and couldn’t come home. I felt bad, so I thought of giving her a gift to apologize.”
“It’s not your fault,” Amelia comforted her. “From now on, Olivia has nothing to do with the Taylor family. You don’t have to care about what she thinks. There are only you and Emma as the granddaughters of the Taylor family.”
“What happened?” Yvonne pretended to be surprised.
Amelia reassured her and said, “It’s fine.” Then, she turned to Liam. “That girl doesn’t know how to appreciate favors. She’s also vicious and ungrateful. Keeping her in the Taylor family will only ruin our
reputation. It’s best to announce her dismissal in the newspaper and take back the shares she holds in the Taylor family.”
Worried that Liam might not agree, Amelia looked at Yvonne and added, “After retrieving the shares, we can distribute them to Emma and Yvonne.”
Liam sighed. “It has only been half a year since the banquet was held to announce that we found Olivia and it was reported in the newspaper. If we announce her dismissal now, the Taylor family will become the laughingstock of the entire upper–class society.”
“It’s better to endure short–term pain than prolonged suffering!” Amelia sneered. “If we don’t act now, with her wicked nature, she might do even more malicious things. When the time comes, the Taylor family will be implicated and it will be even more painful.”
Liam remained silent for a moment before saying, “It’s fine to retrieve the

shares, but let’s skip the newspaper announcement.”
Amelia smiled. “That’s right. Of course, we have to give the Taylor family’s shares to the granddaughters of the Taylor family. So, Yvonne and Emma will split it equally.”
Liam nodded. “Okay.”
Upon hearing this, Yvonne immediately refused. “It’s okay to give them to Emma. How am I supposed to be a member of the Taylor family and accept the shares? No, I can’t accept them.”
Emma quickly echoed her. “I can’t accept them either.”
Their modesty pleased Amelia, who clapped her hands with a smile. “These are our daughters from the Taylor family. So magnanimous! Unlike the one upstairs, she is narrow–minded, with a small mentality, money–minded. She didn’t even hesitate to accept it, without any show of modesty.”
The butler added with a smile, “Researchers might have prestigious titles, but they’re often quite poor. Relatives from my husband’s family work in research institutes, with many impressive titles, but they can’t even afford a down payment of 200 thousand dollars.”
Thinking of Olivia’s shabby appearance and the cheap clothes she was wearing without even a brand, Amelia frowned.
She felt no heartache, but embarrassment.
Amelia expressed her concerns and told William, “I remember she’s a shareholder of Charm, so she should have shares and shouldn’t be short of money.”
William was not well–versed in this matter and can only inferred based on experience. “Her shareholding might not be that substantial. Moreover, Charm has only been doing well for a couple of years. The dividends might not be that much.”
“She’s not worthy of the limelight,” Amelia said coldly. “A pheasant can’t become a phoenix even if it flies to the top. She’s not deserving of good things.”
As she spoke, she turned to Yvonne. “Yvonne, keep the necklace, it would be a waste to give it to her. By the way, after such a long flight, you must be tired. Go upstairs and rest.”
Yvonne elegantly ascended the stairs and entered the room that the butler had prepared for her. She leaned back in a chair and idly played

with the diamond necklace.
She couldn’t help but think that Olivia was truly in trouble this time. She thought that even the god seemed to be favoring her. She felt lucky to invite the renowned doctor, Isaac, and obtain the precious pill that was hard to come by. Speaking of which, even she was surprised.
Initially, she did not have much expectation. She was surprised that she managed to obtain it in the end. She hadn’t expected Isaac to agree so readily and even offer her the precious pill, claiming it was
beneficial for human health.
She was well aware that the one truly in charge of the Taylor family was Liam. So she needed his support.
But why would he abandon his own granddaughter and support an outsider like her?
Yvonne knew she needed to make herself more valuable to sway Liam’s favor away from Olivia.
And now, she had succeeded.
With Isaac’s assistance and the precious pill, her position was rock–solid. No one could threaten her status in Liam’s heart, not even William.
She chuckled inwardly. Well, it was William’s incapability for not being able to invite Isaac.
Amelia had been waiting for embarrassing photos of Olivia all day and into the night. But there was no sign of any activity from her room. She couldn’t wait any longer and pushed the door open.
Upon entering, she saw a slender figure sitting on the bed. The person’s back was very thin and seemed to be fragile. Her arms were so slender as if they could break with a slight fold. But her waist remained straight as if she was leaning against the wall.
The posture was casual yet elegant.
Amelia came from a prominent family, so she had seen many
debutantes. Under this influence, she had high standards for a woman’s posture and was quite picky about it.
But no matter how critical she was, she couldn’t find any fault in Olivia’s
posture.
She was pleased with what she saw and instinctively nodded. However, her gaze then fell upon the coat by the bed, and her expression turned to disgust.
10:33
She was wearing even a non–branded coat, something she couldn’t even recognize. It was like a street market purchase.
To Amelia, it seemed to lower the decorum of the entire room.
Normally, Olivia should have some money on hand. Apart from the research bonuses she gained, she also received dividends from Charm. Yet, she remained so frugal and unwilling to even buy a decent piece of clothing.
Her stinginess was extreme, and Amelia couldn’t help but disdain Olivia for this.
She found her destitute, miserly, and timid.
“Do you want to go to the washroom?” Amelia asked. She leaned against the doorframe, anticipating to witness Olivia’s pleading expression.
However, Olivia only raised her head slightly and showed no signs of the expected begging. Her expression remained icy cold.
“Aren’t you the one who forbade me from going?” Olivia countered.
“You’re somewhat clever.” Amelia chuckled softly. “I wanted to humiliate you. This is what you deserve. You should have anticipated this day when you harmed Emma. If you are willing to kneel down and apologize to her, I’ll consider letting you off.”
Olivia seemed unaffected by Amelia’s words, keeping her head lowered and remaining silent.
Amelia’s brows furrowed, and her patience waned. “Did you hear what I said? If you don’t want to be humiliated, then kneel down and beg Emma for forgiveness! You…”
Before she could finish her sentence, she felt a sudden shadow before her. Before she could comprehend what was happening, her body was forcefully pinned against the wall, and a hand was gripping her throat tightly.
Amelia was startled, her pupils dilating as she stared fixedly at Olivia. right in front of her.

Olivia’s right hand was pressed against her neck. Her arms were so thin that it seemed they could snap with a gentle twist, yet at this moment, they felt like iron limbs, exerting a pressuring force with a howling intensity.
“You…” Amelia was shocked.
Olivia gazed at her calmly. “Did you think the Taylor family could really lock me up? Amelia, you’re underestimating me too much!
“As long as I want to, the Taylor family can’t stop me at all. As long as I want to, Emma won’t be able to see the sun tomorrow. The reason I’m not resisting, surrendering willingly to your bullying, is because you bestowed the gift of life upon me. Because I still held illusions about you. I believed that maternal bond was inherent, that all mothers in the world love their children.”
